  • I didn't buy my timeshare as an investment and am willing to pay reasonable maintenance fees every year. BUT, Diamond Resorts purchased the Point at Poipu property a few years ago and have raised the fees unreasonably each year. This year, we were given 2 months notice to pay $3500! No option to pay on a payment plan - either pay it all immediately or be foreclosed on and ruin our credit! We can't sell the timeshare and we can't pay. This type of extortion should be illegal!

  • ARDA is NOT helping The Point at Poipu timeshare owners AT ALL! Timeshare owners pay ARDA a fee to support timeshare owners, including the Poipu owners. What does ARDA do with our money?

  • I'm Canadian and I just bought a Palm Desert area timeshare for $13.08! I think these are HORRIBLE investments (if you even want to use the word "investment"), but to save BIG bucks on my winter vacation that I go to Palm Springs anyways for...a no brainer for me at this distressed price!!

  • timeshares are like quicksand, once you step into it you can,t get out. the only help you can get is to go in deeper " upgrade". now your in even deeper but no better off. the only solution is to go in even deeper. this will drive you to an early grave. then your children will have to suffer because of these scumbags.

  • $11,500 is cheap for a timeshare in Maui!

  • I hate timeshares they are a waste of money

  • Some important facts: Timeshares aren't for saving money on vacations , nor are they investments . They offer luxury and exclusivity . If one wants to save money , rent a 100 s.f. room in a cheap motel instead of a luxurious 1,200 sf condo in a resort . Most timeshares resales can be bought for near zero because of the poor economy . Last week I spent $85 a night for a 5 star timeshare suite on the beach . Of course a cheap motel would have saved me $10 per night , but not on the beach.

  • @jasavak Wow, you sound exactly like a timeshare salesman, next time at least try to cover it up a bit. Scammers gonna scam.

  • @tuxedomartini @tuxedomartini

Did you even watch the video ? . Time share salesman never tell you this . They are trained to tell you your going to " Save money in the long run " They also try to pitch timeshares as " investments " Timeshares are the opposite because you end up spending more and almost always lose the money you put in . Timeshares benefit people who want the luxury and comfort of a second home in a resort without 100% of the hassles and expenses .

  • So what are her Property Taxes every year on her house? DO people ever understand how expensive it is to keep up a property on the beach? Salt eates everything away. And taxes we all hate but thats life. Just a lil taste

  • Royal Holiday Club. Please contact me at kone203674@live.co.uk. I am a police officer from London, England who was duped into signing a contract, as a result of their misrepresentation and fraud. This was revealed as a result of our research on the Net. I am currently in contact with the Tourism authorities in the Bahamas. My intention is to compile a report to be sent to authorities and consumer rights in various countries. I will collect witness statements of deceived customers.

  • I always thought that people who bought timeshares were idiots. If you think about it, yeah, they are. They pay thousands of dollars and monthly fees for a one week per year vacation spot. It makes no sense! But then again, they probably thought of it as an investment. Yet, still. You would be an idiot to assume anyone would pay thousands and monthly fees for your time share. With thousands of hotels, timeshares make ZERO sense.

  • Great information. There are great buys on resale market but it's important you deal with an experienced professional to help you navigate the process. As a Realtor and Florida timeshare specialist, I help people sell their no longer used timeshares with no upfront fees. For buyers, I help them find deals with value. Most of our's are priced $2,000 or less so you get a quality resort for about the price of a hotel stay. Buying a timeshare for retail vs. resale is bound to cost you much more.

  • You have to be mad to buy into this. theres many people making millions out of these suckers. Don't do it!!!!!!!!!!

  • It all depends which company you buy though. buying a second hand timeshare online is stupid. Typically the reason the person is selling it bc they realized their week was worthless and wasn't worth anything to exchange. So why would anyone want a worthless week?

  • WHy the goverment let these thing happened? this is clearly a Scam and nothing is done... What's up Obama? do your presidential JOb and stop this!!

  • If you owe maintenance fees and die...guess what,...your family will enherit the fees. Refusing to pay will result in court action, and so you cant just walk away from it, or even DIE away from it...its like the Titanic that just hit the 'burg....someone's gonna sink. Good luck....

  • @ellonysman I'm not a lawyer but in general,if someone has not signed and has no knowledge of the agreement,(even a family member) how could they be held liable for the fees ? That is unheard of. But there are certain twists where I could imagine that an heir would have to pay.Such as if a family trust is used for payment etc. But very rare. That would be beyond stupid.

  • WESTGATE RESORT IS A SCAM!!!

  • failed...

  • What i sad scam...

  • Timeshares are a big scam..

  • i am a timeshare owner here in the Philippines and i really enjoy it.. owning a timeshare is not for financial benefits,..its actually for the happiness of your families. that is why i don't believe in the video.. owning a timeshare is better than taking a hotel room... how much do you think would it cost you?...

  • why not just get a hotel room?

  • If you have a timeshare that you would like to get rid of you can contact Property Donation Group. They may even be able to take your timeshare over without even charging you anything at all. The most it could cost to get rid of a timeshare with PDG is around $1,000. That is much less than what timeshare relief companies are charging nowadays. You can Google "Property Donation Group" or call (702) 518-8825 for more information on how to relinquish your timeshare burden.

  • It is really important for timeshare owners to get good accurate information about the timeshare industry as a whole. Thanks for posting this news video, very reputable and authoritative.

  • Seems like this is one of the most reputable/informative posts about timeshares. I haven't seen anything that has this much information in it, not to mention the authority this gets by being from abc news. . .

  • I used to be a timeshare salesman, I would get people super emotional and convince people that it was a great investment. You can't sell these things my mom bought one for 120 bucks off eBay. In the money you spend on maintainance fee's a year is the same amount you would spend on a hotel for a week. Please spare me how YOU got an awesome deal because i sold to tons of people who think they REALLY GOT A GOOD DEAL!

  • Timeshares work for people who value their quality time with the family and vacations, if you´re someone who does not take vacations, it´s not for you easy as that.

My timeshare has worked great over the past 10 years, it´s not an investment, its a treat, it´s something I desserve for the 50 weeks of hard work every year, and I know the kind of places I am going

If your vacation idea is staying at cheap ass motel 6 next to the interstate, timeshares are not for you, it´s not good or bad

  • great video

  • one word solution----HOTEL!

  • WESTGATE=WESTSCAM!THEY TARINED THEIR EMPLOYEES TO LIE AND DECIEVE PEOPLE THEN NOT LET THEM CANCEL AND HIDE THE SUPPOSEDLY 10 PERIOD CANCELLATION IN THEIR 32 PAGES CONTRACT!

    THEY ARE ALL CROOKS BEWARE!

BANDE DE MERDES!THEY STOLE US MORE THAN 4000$,TOOK ADVANTAGE OF US CAUSE WE ARE FOREIGNERS!

  • @sandybelle so being foreigner means you´re stupid? maybe you just did not read the whole contract

  • @1ebric I meant that they did not explained us what a a timeshare was! they made us believe it was a villa we were getting!!!

We could not read the 32 page of contract on the spot and since english is not our first language! But the next day when we called to cancel they would not let us!!!

They kept saying it was an investment,we could get some profit,etc...all the lies on the books but the worst is that THEY DID NOT LET US CANCEL THE NEXT DAY AND THAT IT SCREAMED SCAM!!WESTGATE IS SCAM!!!

  • We have been scammed by WESTGATE RESORT in Orlando,FL!

we are two foreigners who were believe that we were buying a villa for a cheap price.

the following days we wanted to cancel but they would not let us then our closing agent"con artist" supposedly working for the state of Florida disappeared and we felt trapped to pay otherwise they will mess up our credit!!!

We need help to expose them as scammers!!They won't give us our money back!!!

    WESTGATE =WESTSCAM!!!

  • Sadly, so many people get stuck in these timeshares. I came across a sight that may help some of you. They require no upfront fees and they don't list your timeshare. Check it out and let me know what you think? Go to: timeshare-resale-advisor.info. or wix.com/timeshareresale/timeshare-resale-advisor

    Best of Luck!

  • Have you tried Resort Vacation Gateway? It has a free trail.

  • Blame it on the timeshare company. 10000 is cheap for Hawaii.

Go to a Hotel and pay 500 a night.

  • Google "Gonzalez Timeshare solutions" you can find good articles about timeshare scam there.
