how can i get this to work ...

@michaelx3arts Man that could be anything. Motor shouldn;t have anything to do with it unless it's something in the new ECU of the V8. I would test the radio using a battery to make sure it still works.

I have a question. If I go to a junkyard and pull out a stock stereo CD player, do I have to get one from a Mercury like mine or couold I buy any stock stereo? For example, would a stock stereo from a Honda fit my Mercury with the right install kit, or they as different as the engines? lol

I installed a pioneer deck into my 08 aveo5 today it worked just fine for about 5 minutes then cut out. I've checked fuses and all the connections and everything seem sto be fine but the deck isnt getting power (i tried re-connecting the stock radio and that no longer works as well) im curious if you have any other idea on what else couldve happened, or what i should be looking at thanks!

@nationof1666 Odd. I would check all the fuses with a meter, you may have one that doesn't look fried. Check all of them. Make sure you cig lighter still works, that is usually tied into the stereo. If all the fuses are good, you may have a fried cable being as the stock unit no longer works.

@johnnysshop how would u go about bypassing the amp do u just run the wires frm the speakers straight to the deck (well thru the harness)

@johnnysshop uhhh im not sure i bought it used oh yeah i also installed sum kickers in the doors they were tha same size as the original speakers in the truck i took it to a local audio place and they said i need an aftermarket amp or they can override it by disconnectiong the factory sub

i have a 02 tahoe i jus installed a pioneer deck in and it powers up and everything but no sound come out of the speakers can u help i used a wire harness n soldered there wires color for color (it was my 1st time soldering but i think i did okay) wen i 1st turnd my truck on it worked for like 30 sec then stoped then did it again wen i turnd it off then on again

@screw602 Hmm... First guess would be that the amp in the stereo is fried. Was there a factory premium system in the car before?
