hey guys I don't want to sound annoying but me and my friend teamed up and made this channel which will consist of short films, comedy skits, etc. we recently released our first video called the stranger for halloween. we would appreciate it if you checked us out, we put a lot of time and work into it. thank you!
Did this remind anyone of the TV series "The Six Million Dollar Man"? Remember in their credits: "We can rebuild him ... we can make him better than he was ... better, faster, stronger." Even the graphics at about 1:50 remind me of the graphics in their credits.
Neil is a genius, and the halo series is too fantasy heroic world to be a gritty, realistic take on how humans will interact with aliens once we meet them.
@DirtiProductions How can any type of film be original when it's all been done? No matter how minute the similarity, people will always be able to relate one film to another.
this sounds like ghost in the shell, but non-animated. realy cool, best out of adicolor adds i think. should become a series or something atleast, dont care who makes it as blomkamp is busy nowadays, just make it hapen.
this short film is awesome, NEILL BLOMPKAMP is my hero, more inclusive than JAMES CAMERON. NEILL simply is the better director of sci-fi what have been here, i was wating so much HALO, but "NO HAY PEDO". NEILL, you have a fan in MÉXICO.
Blomkamp is easily one of the most promising new Sci Fi directors out there right now. it was a pity what happened with Halo but he moved on and made an amazing movie. I absolutely love District 9, hands down one of the best sci fi movies made this decade.
I can only hope he moves from strength to strength, his concepts in the short films he has made show a lot of promise, Yellow is one i really do hope he makes in to a fully featured film. I love the way this man thinks.
@Mottahead Would District 9 qualify as a B movie? The budget was low IN COMPARISON to other movies, but it was still a staggering 30 grand if I recall correctly.
interesting choose for a title. the story takes place in an Asian city. scientists are of the same nationality. combat originates there. cant help but see the racial / cultural / maybe even poetic subtext in it.
2:08 sparked the thought. when they mentioned taking away emotions & feelings.
SIDEBAR: why is it when @least one parent who has an Asian background the child will also have Asian features? guaranteed! Almost as thought it is prominent over other genes?
If this was something sponsored by Adidas (read the description), this might mean that they own the rights to it and Neill can't make it into a movie. That would suck.
Can someone please tell me what he's saying at 1:57? It's "Make a *SOMETHING* human, make a better human, make a smarter human ..." I've watched a dozen times and cannot understand that word.
Here is what we do. This android escapes, and after years of failed attempts to catch it, the agency sends another android to track it. But this one goes rogue and goes all Terminator on us. Anyone else?
This MUST be full feature film! I can see it being a sci-fi version of some fugitive movie. Take Jason Bourne and put him into a sci-fi situation and bits of gritty realism. Sure this movie will play out well. :D
@TerenceTeng2 Matt Damon is in the new Neill Blomkamp movie too! XD he's going to be staring alongside jodie foster and the lead actor of d9. It takes place on a new planet, and it's possibly about genetic expirements on food... like The Jungle, but in sci-fi form.
It reminds me of I, Robot and Ghost in the Shell, if anything the point of the movie should be for yellow to replace humanity, then it would destroy the cliche of humans always win because we are not robots... Now I must go back to spending money on what the tv says I should. xp
@The0Archiver: Read a few of the novels by Peter F. Hamilton. The distinction between robots and humans will evolve. By the time the technology catches up with the fantasy of ambulatory robots that can be more of challenged than a dishwasher on wheels, the distinction will be moot. I think the vision of "Ghost in the Shell" may come about, but the "ghost" will already be there.
He Has to be the director for World war Z i don't think ive ever seen a director capture the air of the international community that is portrayed in the book quite like this director has
i liked how this one was the most interesting to watch out of all of the adicolor podcasts. it felt like i was watching a full movie in just 4 minutes.
But your creative energy could go into such a power version of Halo. I am dissapointed in you for refusing to make it after the success of Distric 9.
Maybe a filmmaker with enough guts will finally get the fame they deserve from making the movie. Truely disappointing
You need to understand the creastive process behind making a film before you understand why he called it.
He and Jackson spent no less than seven months working balls-to-the-wall on the Halo film, only for the studio to cancel it on them.
If you were working on a project for seven months just to have it completely cancelled due to matters beyond your control, you would also feel disheartened beyond the point of continuing.

@TheoSamaritan And to top that off, it was cancelled more than once. Neill has even stated that he couldn't handle the emotional trauma of another cancellation and has refused to work any further on it.
@TheoSamaritan that's how Rob Bottin felt after working on the "doomed" Freddy Vs Jason film( Concept art, Makeup FX and Directing) only to have it halted and the studio went with a shitty script, an Asian film director with little experience in Horror films and actresses with horrible boob jobs.
@TheoSamaritan That's a lie and anyone who's worked in the industry knows that's how business is. Sometimes you work hard, sometimes you get cancelled. The first thing they teach you at school is not to get married to your work. Now he went to VFS, one of the best film schools in the world for this stuff. Believe me when I say he knows this more than anyone. He got paid, that's what matters.
@xXull Theo's other account here I was only commenting on something he and Jackson both said. I know that's how the business is, but you put the work in and get screwed yes you will be disheartened, paid or not. Youtube wont let me link the article, but google it and you'll find out what I said was far from a lie.
It seems less like a short film and more like a movie trailer but a phenomenal movie trailer at that.. The visuals are stunning and I would love to see this made into a feature. It kind of rings of "I Robot" meets "The Bourne Identity."
Or just Ghost in the Shell meets Ghost in the shell. The concept is exactly the same, though this still does look very interesting, nonetheless. I would love to see this hit the big screen.
But I hate the idea of making a better, faster and smarter human, cause it's a huge challenge to make a robot that is eaven close to humans, it will take time to make something that would rivall humans, but by that time, humans will be geneticly making humans better, so it would be eaven harder to make a machine that would rival us.
But when they make the first machine that is close to us, it will become better very fast.
Wow, this is awesome! Kind of reminds me of Blade Runner (but better!) I Robot could have been a good movie if Neill Blomkamp was involved. As for Spielberg's A.I., I thought the effects were good but I didn't really like the story.
