At about D5 Tonex breaks into his mixed voice and falsetto at F5 ... Karen's high notes are in her full voice without compromising her tonality... Most counter tenor male singers can usually get to D5 without breaking into falsetto so why compare these two. It would be best to compare Karen with a singer such a Kim Burrell, Rachelle Ferrell and other singer alike who are closer to her range.

so the thing about this is that one is a female and the other is a male. it's kind of weird to compare the two because Karen's voice is higher than his just because she's a female. a lot of her notes can be done in her chest while Tonex's notes are done in his falsetto. and she probably could go into the 7s if she just used her head voice without belting. they are both good at what they do, but they're different.

I have to say Tonex hands down, his voice is so unique and he always brings us something new and different to look forward with his attire and definitely his voice.
To be able to growl in Bflat and B natural is absolutely amazing and no one else can do that except Karen. I love Tonex, but the higher he goes, the more it sounds and is less natural. He does, undoubtly, have an extraordinary range by far for a male vocalist. But Karen is all natural, everyday and very versatile. Not only that, most of her vocal acrobatics are done on the spot..she doesn't rehearse them. A lot of her recordings are and have been done "live".

Thats how you know Shun is the higher soprano naturally.

so the thing about this is that one is a female and the other is a male. it's kind of weird to compare the two because Karen's voice is higher than his just because she's a female. a lot of her notes can be done in her chest while Tonex's notes are done in his falsetto. and she probably could go into the 7s if she just used her head voice without belting. they are both good at what they do, but they're different.

If I were to vocally evaluate both of them Tonex would win because his range surpasses Karen's - Tonex's range: 4.1 octaves, Karen: 2.7 octaves. In addition, Tonex's runs are more precise than Karen's. And Tonex's more versatile than Karen.

He can dress properly whenever he chooses. Have you seen his "out the box" concert? He went from 50/60's clothing to a suit and then to camouflage pants and a t-shirt.

To be able to growl in Bflat and B natural is absolutely amazing and no one else can do that except Karen. I love Tonex, but the higher he goes, the more it sounds and is less natural. He does, undoubtly, have an extraordinary range by far for a male vocalist. But Karen is all natural, everyday and very versatile. Not only that, most of her vocal acrobatics are done on the spot..she doesn't rehearse them. A lot of her recordings are and have been done "live".

Karen has not met her match with Tonex, for one Karen can sing better and don`t even get me started on those echoes. She met her match with Lashun but that is it.
Melonie is good at low notes, but she does`nt have the range as Karen and Tonex. Nevertheless tonex and Karen are both gifted by God.

@bowiehs Actually Tonex has a wider range than Karen due to his ability to sing extremely low notes. I'm not even sure who can sing higher than who. Its just that C#6 is the highest note that I've heard both of them belt. Both are unquestionably skilled.

I have been a fan of her for a long time, and no I am not bias because she is my favorite singer. This was a amazing video, but you should have put that video when Karen sung oh the glory at that midnight musical, her range is impeccable, tonex can sing but karen do do more with her voice. She find notes under trees and rocks lol.

Emperor it is thin in comparison to Lashun and other dramatics. They claim she is a dramatic, but she is not. She is more of a lyric or spinto soprano, her voice is very flexible as a result out of the other sopranos.

@kmaur21 Emperor I understand Karen's voice now. I noticed as she goes higher her tone gets thinner, Shun gets louder and more powerful the higher. Karen is dramatic mezzo soprano that could hit super soprano notes with ease for singing so long but she is not a soprano as high as Lashun naturally.

I will admit Tonex could do more with his voice though and he has more range than KCS. I heard he can do whistle notes and he is a male singer so you know he could do to bass with ease. That note at the end he does is a C6# D6 and he hit a full C6 on that Sitcom I forget it but folks thought it was Shanice Wilson but it was Tonex.

@Godislove452 Karen is a mezzo soprano who can get up there and Lashun is a natural very very high soprano. It sounds like Lashun is screaming but those notes are effortless for her. Karen has too work harder to hit those C6's and be prepped in clear voice. Lashun could be straight up hoarse and hit a natural C6 or D6 with ease in a very hoarse moment too. Thats how you know Shun is the higher soprano naturally.
