sorry for posting to many comments, but when there is a note coming toward you, you have to hold down the fret before strumming. and if there is a sequence of notes, you hold down the fret and strum all of the notes without taking your finger off the fret.

yes it will work for both the DS Lite and the DS, but with the DS you have to plug in and adapter that comes with the game, or i think it cames with the game.
