@vutEwa Black salt is a dark pink colored rock salt used in Indian cooking that has a sulferous taste to it. It blends in well in dishes though. No other salt I've run into will substitute for it. I find it very good on boiled eggs myself although my wife can't stand it.

@marcus7w Sir ...you just have to take cumin seeds and roast them on a medium high heat pan for about 30 seconds ....be aware of not to burn them ....otherwise they will tast bitter and get dark ....enjoy your cooking ...

How do you make roasted cumin powder? I don't think I can buy it in a store.

@marcus7w Roast the cumin either on a pan for 2-3 mins on low flame or in microwave for 40-60 sec. Let it cool and then Grind it to make powder.
