  • therapy vests are not half as effective as biphasic cuirass ventilation by united hayek. with BCV, you expand the lungs and oscillate on a negative baseline, creating the greatest surface area. Therapy vests LOWER FRC and collapse the lungs from the compression. (search united hayek BCV for the biphasic advantages)

  • Great machine, im using it for years holding a job down etc

  • I just got diagnosed with bronchiectasis, I'm 29 years old and have had the symptoms for 6 months, i cough all day every day and sometimes get coughing fits with phlegm coming out, sometimes blood. I have persistent chest and shoulder joint pain on same side as the bad part of the chest. Doctor hasnt told me much about the condition, where is the best place to look?

  • @ceniboy I've bronchiectasis, I'm 34. Please listen to me: you have to take this very seriously. Once it gets worse it is much harder to stabilise.

Chnage doctor if you need to - but get help NOW

  • I hope that thing benefits you alot.

Well, my younger brother (11yrs)who is also a bronchiectasis patient, but his case is now worse, and the doctor told me that its too late for him, he said the medicines are only working 10%, will this thing be good for him, and how we expect his health goodness, will this prevent further damage to the lungs or not

  • @123glasgow

Is your brother 11 years younger than you or is he 11 years old?

I'm so sorry the docs tell you that it's too late for him. Sometimes, I don't think docs should say that to people!! This machine would be good for him to help keep him from getting further infections, which in turn would prevent further damage to his lungs. But, I'm not a doctor, and I wouldn't have any idea of how good or not good it would be for your brother, but you should ask his dr. It's worth a try!

  • I am a bronchiectasis patient

    How much money this machine?

    It,s good for bronchiectasis?

    thank you

  • First, I'm sorry that you have bronchiectasis! It's not a good thing to have, but I always tell my husband, at least it's not cancer!

The machine costs about $16,000 but our insurance covered all but about $1300

I truly believe this machine saved my husband's life. Since he started using The Vest, he has only had 1 infection in 2.5 years. Before, he had an infection every month. We had to appeal the insurance but we won in the end and it was well worth the struggle! Hope you get one.

  • Hello Helen, We got the machine through Hill Rom. His pulmonologist had to recommend it and the insurance denied it, but we appealed and they finally approved it. The machine is extrememly expensive. We think it's $16,000 or so. Praise the Lord our insurance covered all but about $1200. Ask your doctor about it. Before Herb got "Thumper" he had an infection every single month. He has not had an infection in a year and 1/2 now!! All because of "The Vest by Hill Rom" I will pray you can get it!

  • I would like to know where herb got his

    machine. I suffer from bronchiectasis

and this looks like a pretty cool machine

  • I'm so sorry to hear this! Are you going to be able to get the Vest? it has helped my husband so much. I'll be praying for you.

  • Awe... see, moments like this make all those hours in school worth it! We hope it adds many years too! God Bless!

  • Cool!! What do you do? He has not had to take antibiotic for 12 months now!! It's just wonderful!! I'm so thankful for all the people who invented this machine!

    God Bless you too!

  • Studying to be a nurse with a special interest in respiratory and nervous system disorders. Knowing that lives really are changed and improved gives me a greater appreciation for my studies. Hopefully I can help someone like Herb.

  • Hey LambdaLady07,

Right, does respiratory mean is for a breathe/air right?

  • Yeah, thats exactly right. The respiratory system deals with the gas exchange in the lungs. Cool subject when ya look deep in it.

  • Oh, I see! Thank you for your tell me...

  • Herb is so funny... You too, Renae! Love you guys!

  • awesome... i am supposed to get one of these in the next month or so.

  • I was just looking back at my comments on my husband's Vest machine and was wondering if you got yours and how you are doing with it?

Let me know. We are so pleased with the progress my husband has made. He has not had in infection for a full year now! Bless you!

  • this scares me...my doc wants me to do this...

  • I have one too - and its excellent!
