Seeing this it is so nuts how much he reminds me of an "Indie-DIY" Brian Wilson. I really hope for Weezer/Cuomo's next project that really ambitious side comes out. He always said in his older age he wanted to be a composer. It'd be so lovely he made a sort of Pet Sounds two... I know it's in him.

Think about it, he's doing whatever song those people want to hear at random. With all the albums he has plus unrecorded tunes as well as the recorded tunes he did alone, I doubt he could just remember the riff's and chords.

such is the nature of a hootenanny! i don't remember hearing any noticeable or grating mistakes. And anyway, everyone was way too into singing and playing along to even notice. lucky it wasn't a solo on a rather loud woodwind instrument (like the flute...)

yes it was, the snl cowbell skit was one of the best ones they've ever created. i do agree that people try to overdo it now, but to argue that it never was funny would just be wrong i'd say.
