Saw the documentary. George Harrison: Living In The Material World on HBO the other day i strongly recommend to all you Beatles fans out there to watch it rent it or buy it at some point. Great look at the life of the "Quiet Beatle" and yea this song is underrated. Its a Martin Scorsese production so you know its good quality.

To learn how to perceive hidden messages in Beatles' songs, go to TruthContest (dot) com, then open The Present and read through the section about The Beatles. I was blown away when I read this book, and now I hear Beatles' songs in a completely different and profound way.
I vowed to myself I'd only ever love George Harrison, and when I met the one guy who truly looked like him, I broke my vow and got my heart broken. Sorry George</3 );
I love you George! I've never met you or even known of you during your lifetime but I regret that. You're one of my favorite people ever. i was crying the other day thinking about how you're no longer with us, and i remembered Ringo's song.
This is one of my favorite Beatles songs. It's a real shame george went so religious after the Beatles and expressed that in his music. I'm not trying to offend the believers among us, but i'm just not a big fan of that.
I always try to think this was sung for someone who george loved very much (while it is actually sung to god)
It sounds like Yoko Ono was present on this track if you listen from 2:47 - 2:55 - very creepy screaming! But it's one of George's best ever songs. :)
@laissezfayre Nope, despite the creepy wailing, Yoko was not present. Not even John played on this track. It is a beautiful, haunting song. I agree that it's one of his best.
This song is so beautiful . Definitely and underrated George song . I really like this video with it to ! He was a good man , and he and John will be so dearly missed . R.I.P. George && John , Buddies && Pals . <3 (':
@feenyfighter I too have read this isn't a love song in the traditional sense. Read Harrison's biography, _Here Comes the Sun_. In there it states that this & many of Harrison's love songs written in 2nd person ("you" "your") esp. around this time are actually devotional songs that refer to George's spiritual quest to find God/Krishna in meditation.
Still, it works as a fu**ing STEAMY love song in MY book any day!
A beautiful song. Keyboard and vocals are haunting, the addition of the sitar was a master stroke. Hard to believe I only came across this track after hearing the stand-out Danger Mouse mash up.
George Harrison is my favorite Beatle. I love that he was quite, but showed his sense of humor everyonce in a while. He is also super talented and super HOT! GO GEORGE!
I have a custom mix of Long, Long, Long. In case anyone wants to prove me wrong, I guarantee that it's even more haunting...and underrated. You can find it on my channel!
Never ever will forget seeing him in concert....truly amazing. My office is a tribute to the Beatles essentially. Ground breaking music. Love this song!
this song always reminds me of george and pattie together. they were a perfect couple and they definatly loved eachother very much. i bet pattie regrets leaving george. i bet she misses him, but then again, we all do. R.I.P
wonderful song, so beutiful and fragile. But to be honest, everytime i listen to it the "outro" destroyes everything. This song is so moody and makes you float away when you listen to it and then this avantgarde noise. But the times where different back there and musicans made experimantal sound. And by the way everything the beates did, where good and right!
In honor of Ringo's 70th, I hope U will check out my "RINGO"video. It's very retro with Beatleish touches & was done as a labor of love and with the utmost respect for the Fabs. My attempt at putting a little bit of the Beatle spirit out there for Beatle fans. It's also my tribute to George Harrison's slide playing as well as Ringo's unique style.
So warm, so beautyful, so close to god... nobody can put words and music so well together, like George could. No musician can move me, like he does, still. Why does he mean so much to me, although I have never met him ?
From the lyrics...to Ringo's stellar drumming....to the message ... to the wine bottle rattling on the speaker at the end of the song, this one is pure George/Beatle genius.
"The 'you' in Long, Long, Long is God. I can't recall much about it except the chords, which I think were coming from Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands - D to E minor, A, and D - those three chords and the way they moved."
Geofree - My God, my God, I feel the same way. I thought I was the only one. I remember the day he died as one of the saddest days of my life. It was soon after the horrible sadness of 9/11, and I recall I wept, I sobbed, I cried like a father losing a son, or better, a brother losing a brother. I cried so long and so hard, and people asked, " Why ? You didn't even KNOW the guy." And I replied, " Yes, I did. He was my brother. " To this day, I weep, from my heart and soul.
Love song? Hymn? One of the least played and most beautiful GH songs...hehe, the rumbling at the end was supposedly a bottle of Blue Nun wine sitting on a speaker. Always innovating...
George has always been my favorite Beatle and person this was a beautiful tribute qith beautiful pictures of him and yes that song used to send chills always loved the lyrics as well as George
I love this song so much. Thank you for making this! This song is so beautifically written and it is so underrated... Long,Long,Long is defiantly a classic. LOVE THIS SONG
I`m a huge George Harrison fan and this was beautifully done and I can tell that you had a passion for him as well from the care that was taken to put this together. I especially loved the photo at 1:44, had never seen that one before and would love to get a copy of it....
lately I've been super hung up on this song and I Want To Tell You...George's songs and his voice have a way of giving me chills and just getting to me...Love U George
This song will live as an absolute favorite of mine the rest of my life. Yes I know the chills. In my mind though its about love for another person. Not relegious. But George ment it to be.
REST IN PEACE, George Harrison, MY LOVE!!! He was such a talented man, like the rest of the four beatles, but since we are on the topic of george, i must admit that he was a wonderful man who believed in peace and meditation...

I Me Mine, 1980 "There's a sound near the end of the song which is a bottle of Blue Nun wine rattling away on top of a Leslie speaker cabinet. It just happened. Paul hit a certain note and the bottle started vibrating. We thought it was so good that we set the mikes up and did it again. The Beatles always took advantage of accidents."

You're right. George Harrison used his time traveling powers in order to steal this song from Elliot Smith. With his amazing ability to manipulate the space-time continuum, he could have easily taken over the world. But Harrison just wasn't the evil overlord type.
Was Elliot Smith even alive in 1968? I think it's pretty obvious Elliot Smith was the one who did the borrowing from the Beatles as just about every band did.
"How can I ever have lost you? So many years I was searhing. So many tears I was wasting." He must have been writing this about his longing for union with the transcedant consciousness. How can that happen if you do not have as much passion for that as you do at the beginning of any earthly love affair.
George was the coolest Beatle. I used to think it was John, but no more. John used to back every silly cause on earth; George had more sense than to do that.
Bless you George. Thank you so much. See you in the next life xxx

Am I the only one who knows that George Harrison was blessed with the most beautiful and perfect hair to ever cover a human head? I covet it.

Harrison's hair was always welcome on my pillow!

John was a tool in some ways. A tool of Yoko, sorry, and a horrible father to Julian. Yes, he had some good things, but some serous flaws, imo.

you're wrong. Actually he was perfect. Just like everybody else
LeonSzillard 3 years ago
He was far from perfect, to whom much is given, much is expected, speaking of John Lemmon, again, a great musician.

George was the coolest Beatle. I used to think it was John, but no more. John used to back every silly cause on earth; George had more sense than to do that.

He is still with us, reminding us of a land free from anxiety.
He wrote this song about Lord Krishna,it's all about missing Him, now it is about missing George, this is now poignant but sublime nevertheless.
Hare Krsna!

I remember seeing George on the TV right before he died. I will always look up to this man as one of the greatest men who has ever lived.
