  • @pantstelly93 @mezzXO I was in the king and I show at the Lowry and was a prince(loved the dressing room) and they are NOT held on by elastic bands. They are on hair nets with hair grips attached (it hurt when they were putting them on me). If you want truth, just reply to this. I will remember it always. It is sad my performance is over. I was even in the Oldham chronicle! Please do not ask me about it for any other reason. It makes me sad just thinking about it!

  • This clip is so darn charming :)

  • 0.55 "fuck u bitch" like a boss

  • I wish my orchestra would play this song I love it soo much!!! >.<

  • 13 childeren ._____________. damnnnnnnnnnnn!!!! how can you handle that many kids?! xD lolz

  • @dreamgirl71095 Don't forget about the "children of wives not in favor of king - 67 I think" :)

And later on when the English ambassador asks him how many children he has, he responds "only 106 I have not been married that long - oh, but expecting 5 more next month" lol

  • Am I the only one who thinks that the animated movie just ripped it's music STRAIGHT from this? Don't misunderstand me. I mean it sounds like they just copy-pasted the music from this movie into the animated one. They didn't compose it again. They just used this.

  • @TheStealthX If you use that logic then this movie "ripped" the music from Rodgers and Hammerstein. This is the music from their musical, made into a movie, which was then later reworked into an animated film. It's not ripping, the music and story are just conventionally put together.

  • @thishasonepurpose No, I don't mean like that. I mean the music sounds identical in both movies. Its like they just used this video and spoke over the dialogue

  • How do they keep those little box things on their heads? The magic of cinema...

  • @mezzXO they're held on by elastic bands something like a party hat; you see it when anna puts one on during the getting to know you bit

  • I absolutely LOVEEEEE Yul. <3

  • good lord hes got a lot of kids! and i have to say the prince was sooooooooooo much cuter in the animated film lolz XP

  • love the music. and someone pls find me a guy who looks like yul brynner. much appreciated.

  • One's missing. Hey where's the girl that bows the wrong way and gets turned around?

  • All time favorite scene! <3

  • Im 20 years old and when i watched this when i was younger i watched the crown princes part over and over.

  • costume design is very beautiful

  • that little girl at the end is so cute <3

  • I love how he enters at 1:40 he is like "yea thats right Im going to be king!"

  • now THAT is an enterence at 1:40! :)

  • i love this scene and the music, i'll have his children lol

  • @ariesram93 I know that's right .. all 47 of them.. haha..!!!

  • @itchycoopark2 girl yeah, well i better get started lmao :)

  • I love how the king's like "Yea, that's right, 2"

  • Those kids are adorable! And I really like how the King is so gentle, yet firm, when they make a mistake, like turning one's back or showing excessive informality...

  • i liked the little girl that wanted to come up and hug her dad. <3

  • Many an actor has played the king, but Yul Brynner WAS the king, and in my mind, will always be.

  • Wasn't there a bit where one of the children doesn't get out of the bow, and the King has to carry her away?

  • @faerie4 that happened, but it was after the march

  • @faerie4 it is just after the end of this scene the little girl is late for the presentation so she runs in between the kings legs and crouches into her bow and the king picks her up and turns her round lol

  • It may not be Thai culture to be all snuggly but I'm sure the little girl who wanted a hug from daddy didn't do it to embarrass him. Most children want love and cuddles - I think she was just acting naturally!

  • lol the sounds he makes reminds of the caveman units from the first empire earth

  • Thumbs up if you can't stop smiling whilst watching this :))

  • We are doing "The King and I" in my town, and I am one of the wives. My daughter is the one who turns her back, but redeems herself by giving Anna the flower from her hair. (We had to combine some parts. It's a small town.)

  • @pinklavigne231 That still sounds adorable! Hope it goes / went well :3

  • @Fifekun Going good so far! We're still in the rehearsals phase, so it's slow going, but we practiced running the whole show last night!

  • WOW!!! Breathtaking...

  • SO MANY DAUGHTERS!!!

  • how can I watch it¿?

  • @reinadecorazones29 Hit play

  • @tiburcioman jajaja thanks but I was talking about the film XD

  • Many, many years ago when this first started in New York, I wanted to go see it,,,but circumstances were wrong. So, eventually we could buy the music, and I played it all day long..so many very beautiful songs and words to go with them! Then , finally I did get to see two live performances...one in Detroit, and one in Cleveland...but no YUL BRENNER! He was GREAT! Almost as if the part were written for him...Sadly, he died from throat cancer...We just didn't know then how harmful it was!

  • I love the crown prince scene he comes walking in with the face that says "thats right i am going to run this country"

  • nawwws i luv the little kid tht was like *tugtug* pay attention to me! she is so cute!

  • 12 kids....damn. That's not all of them

  • Um filme como esses jamais poderá ser feito outra vez! Rockybrazil1

  • This was, and always will be, the true classic! The remake they attempted a few years ago absolutely sucked! Once you have something right, you should never mess with it!

  • @ctimson50 But of course it wasn't right! The later version was much more accurate but still not good enough to be accepted in Thailand where all versions are banned!!

  • I think the end ( YING) is so cute because the King did not want to leave her.So sweet.AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW..........

  • I was in a community theatre production of this musical when I was in grammar school. I was one of the many children. This has always been my favourite musical movie and in my top 3 musicals of all time!

  • I have always thought that Prince Chulalongkorn was going to give himself whiplash at any moment....still an epic entrance though

  • @DarkCarpathians I agree! And dropping to your knees so suddenly like that, at any age, can't feel too good either! LOL!!!

  • Prince Chulalongkorn has such a great enterence!

  • daaang.. Prince chulalongkorn's got swaaaaag.

    i love his entrance!! ahahaa

    ;)

  • I lost track of the number of kids rather quickly, anyone get how many there were?

  • @ALand2237 14 :) (including the one that comes in right after this clip ends).

  • The twins look Indian. Haha.

  • The King actually has a sense of humour. I love his expressions :)

  • I love the Prince's entrance!! i want to walk in a room like that, with epic music playing! :P

  • Yul Brynner was the most sexy guy on the world, even now !

  • @PrincesseFreyja Yes yes yes he was!! :D

  • @PrincesseFreyja - Sexiest broadway musical every. My favorite. I had the chance to see it before he passed. Sill my favorite.

  • I'm a royal wife in this show right now, and sitting the way that they do (on our knees) isn't as comfortable as it looks...ugh.

  • i LOVE IT

  • the king is good lookin was hopin the prince would be older and good looking too!

  • 1:39 I OWN THE FUCKING WORLD.

  • i dont get 2:30

  • @Indiebanana She turned her back to the king

  • @Indiebanana

She turned her back towards her after a greeting, it's showing importance over someone.

  • @Indiebanana Because you're not allowed to turn your back to the King. She was scared because the King

would wip people who don't do what they are told.

  • I used to be one of them in our school play

  • This is my absolutely favorite part in the whole movie. It's so cute and hilarious at the same time

  • lol, the oldest prince but he sure makes his father proud though...

  • How many women did this man breed up lol.

  • @Vswag90 I don't recall but I do remember him saying that he had somewhere like 60+ kids. These are just his favorites of the moment.

  • @JessiV2 "I have only...67 altogether. But I begin very late!"

  • What an awesome composition! It is amazing how R & H could adjust to any theme with their music.

  • I haven't seen the whole movie for more than 10 yearssss. That's tooooo longgg. Must. See. It. Soon!!!!

  • wait I don't get what happened at 2:35. what did she do wrong.

  • @2013ECO She turned around when walking away she wasn't suppose to. Watch all the other kids walk away and you'll see

  • For me, this is the most moving and poignant moment in musical history. Oh, and Yul Brynner is yummy. :-)

  • I love the heir's entrance. He knows he's THE Prince and it totally shows. :D

  • such beautiful children

  • I never understand what the little girl forgot to do at 2:29???

  • @mandazdahomie She turned her back to the King.

  • @mandazdahomie All the other children walked backwards before sitting down but walked normally.

  • The King is the most arrogant, pompous man I have ever seen in a movie. And I love him. He is just so full of himself but you can't hate that about him because he actually believes it.

He recognizes that he's truly awesome, and to hell with anyone else that doesn't see it lol

  • look at all those smiles! such a wonderful film

  • i listen to this wen i do my homework. its been proven that i get most answers right when listening to THIS song in particular. THANK YOU ROGERS AND HAMMERSTIEN!

  • That Smile Was worth a Millions Hugs.........@triling28.... i agree.....

  • I love how some of the kids try to look under her skirt. :P

  • Dang thats a lot of kids! lol someone has been busy. lol

  • why did the king gasp in horror thy made tht little kid cover her mouth? I don't know what she did

  • @lyndzi18

She turned around and faced her back to the woman instead of backing away facing her

  • Comment removed

  • @lyndzi18 she turnd her back on the king

  • The little one in green is absolutely adorable!

  • I love the crown prince's entrance its so majestic and full of pride. Fantastic!

  • Dang...look in the background at 2:33 right after the girl in pink turns her back. The Head Wife gives her death look. This is such a good movie, but there were some little jokes that were in the original production that I wish they had kept.

  • Thanks so much for uploading!! I've been looking for this everywhere! :D xx

  • Our school is doing this and I play the prince!!! soooo excited!!!

  • Thanks for your comment about turning the little one around. I thought I had misremembered-and it was so adorable in a scene of incredible adorableness. Also, great touch, how the designated wives(not concubines) collect the children.

  • This is an amazing piece of work. It took me forever to learn to play on the piano. but this has to be one of my favorite instrumentel pieces ever

  • Thats a lot of children o.o

  • @RosesNightengales The King had a lot of wives and concubines!

  • The expressions and sounds the king makes=priceless

  • i love when the crown prince comes out, and Anna's like, "whoa, I'd better curtsy to this one!"

  • I love the look of pride he gives the high prince, like, "That's my boy."

  • Everytime I see this scene, I get the warm and fuzzies. I do wish, like the play they had the youngest go through his legs, he picks him/her up and while the little tot's frozen in the kneeling position, he places the baby in their proper place with the others.. or a variation of it. Anyway, they are all so precious. The Music piece is also incredible, wouldn't be the same without it.

  • Gosh, I get the chills when i watch this....o__o so awesome

  • I liked the twins, the little girl with the flower, the one at 2:10, and my favorite one, the oldest son, the Prince :) but most of all, i liked all them ^.^

  • The prince's walk-in is hysterical. I can't get over it!!

  • Magnificent Hollywood. The cast, the sets, the costumes, the music, ooh the music. It just doesn't get any better than this. Rogers and Hammerstein were unparalleled.

  • All the kids are cute, but I just love the second to last (the little girl in green). She's adorable!

  • in the play i was in for the king and i , i was the litttle girl with the flowerr (:

  • My musical theatre debut was as the crown prince -- over 40 years ago! I can still remember waiting in the wings for my cue with this wonderful music. What an entrance!

  • Awww the little girl only wanted a hug from her daddy! I love the smile he gives her...

  • @trilingual28

Thai people never hug or cuddle.

  • @trilingual28

She did it to embarrass him, as they never cuddle people in Thailand.

  • I just melt at all the personalities of the children...so sweet!

  • I've always been curious about the things on top of their heads and how they're attached.

  • should show the bit slightly after this when another kid runs out and kneels and the king carries him while in the kneeling position..that was the epic

  • @User20022002 Yes that is a good part but i just wanted the song

  • @tiburcioman hehe dont blame you. the music for this scene is AWESOMENESS!!

  • @Scar2401 Glad you like it!

  • @Scar2401 Glad you like it!

  • I saw this live in Indiana (Amish Country) and I got to meet the cast afterwards. I got to meet the littlest girl in this clip (well, not the one in the actual movie but the little girl that played her when I saw it live)

  • What's up with the oldest son

  • @iloveaim6 He's the first born thus the "badass" of the group.

  • @Spycox yeah i love it when the heir comes in it shows how he was one day to good king and got rid of slavery

  • MUSIC IS GREAT!

  • one of my favorite scenes in the king and i.

  • This is what i call MUSIC!

  • If you live near Lancaster, Pa....try to see The King and I....Dutch Apple Theatre...google will take you to the website for more information.....runs summer of 2010 until August 7....

  • I'm so glad to be able to watch this clip. It is one of my favorites.
