  • "The Wire? sheeeeeiiiit "

  • It's funny how at first she says "it's fiction" and tries to say the show is way off in how things really are. Then she says that it portrays cites across the country, and by the end of the interview she admits it portrays exactly the way things are and is excited to see how the next group's ugly face is exposed (the media) and she gets a big smile, because she's thinking, "thank God us politicians are off the main focus next season." What a bitch. lol

  • @Combatives813

Wasn't Dixon convicted on some federal corruption charges?

  • @willia3r Yes, she was charged of several counts of corruption. I remember her being convicted for using gift cards that were donated to be given out to low income families. Too bad she couldn't defend herself as good as Clay Davis. lol

  • it's a fiction show

  • So the politicians of Baltimore say its "fiction" but actual drug dealers, cops, and citizens of Baltimore say its exactly how things happen there.

  • From the very first sentence that emerged from her mouth I knew she was full of it.

  • a fictional show? of course it is because your a perfect mayor dumb bitch!

  • u fucking gift card stealing bitch! she never wanted to help baltimore, she just wanted to gain from her position.

  • The bullshit she just vomited into the mic simply validates everything that's in the wire. gj idiot mayor.

  • How can I motherfucker say anything bad about The Wire?????

  • i like carcetti better

  • Na, its nothing like the real B-More...its worse.

  • On Dec 1, 09, after 7 days of deliberations, the jury returned verdicts on 4 of the 5 remaining counts. Dixon was found not guilty of the two felony theft charges, and one count of misconduct of office. She was found guilty on one misdemeanor embezzlement charge relating to her use of over $600 worth of retail store gift cards that were intended to be distributed to needy families. The jury was unable to reach a unanimous decision regarding the final charge of misdemeanor embezzlement.

  • @weavehole Well I'm convinced she's innocent...lol

  • She got indicted JUST LIKE CLAY DAVIS!

  • How can she in one sentence say its a fiction show that DOESN'T reflect Baltimore but in the next say shes learning from from the show and using it to reform the education system etc etc....Damn make up your mind bitch!!

  • She's the mayor of Baltimore, but needed the 4th season of The Wire to realize there was problems in the public school system. I'm impressed...

  • hahaha the wire is fiction, considering one of the characters is based on her and reflex's her carrier very accurately

  • And how long did it take for Sheila to be done for perjury and misconduct.... this interview should be taken with a massive grain of salt considering this...

  • Baltimore's a shithole!

  • Fuck The Sopranos¡¡¡ The Wire rules¡¡

  • @muertosdetumare man, NO FUCK u man! Sopranos is easily some of the best shit ever. The Wire is one of the best too....but fuck u and let me straddle your head and shoot my slong in your hair!

  • She's a politician, or at least used to be. She's required to paint the pretty picture and deny it. The truth is that the Wire was the most accurate depiction of the crime and drug problem in Baltimore.

  • bla bla bla 'my career is much more important than what the wire is sayin' bla bla bla. She wd get more respect if she quoted Omar and said 'S'all in the game yo'.

  • I havent' lived in that craphole for six years and I thank god there is no future in Baltimore the only future you have to look forward to is life as a drug addict / drug dealer or working a city jobi left cause I wanted better for myself, partsmet take it from a former resident Baltimore doesnt' matter,

  • No meekmop is wrong mr. partsmet I' one many former Baltimore who woke up and saw the city for what it truly is first of the problem with that city is many of the resident would rather live off the government instead of trying to better themselves, second: the schools are bad cause most of the kids dont' want to learn anything instead they wanna cuss out teachers and fight Ive' seen this with my own eyes

  • straight into doublespeak mode

  • She didn't seem to get the concept of jury nullification of law. Duhhr. You can't improve the war on drugs (the war on the american people) --you can only end it.

  • It's brilliant how she has been indicted for things that occur in the wire, and then she has the nerve to say that it's all fiction

  • @tfn105

    She doesn't say that anywhere.

  • @partsmet Err... her opening words are, "well, I mean, the show is a fiction show and I don't think it reflects Baltimore".

And yet she gets done in real life in a not too dissimilar fashion to Clay Davis in the show. That's my point.

  • look at nerese campbell

  • She went down hard.

  • What a bitch.

  • Now I know nothing about Baltimore aside from what I've seen in The Wire, but politicians in The Wire act just like this. It doesn't surprise me that the mayor isn't saying "Yeah Baltimore's a shithole full of drugs and corruption".

  • @nonnynay

That's because it isn't. You are ignorant. You should feel ashamed. What if i saw a photo of your mom and said "I know she is complete whore". Would that be fair? Don't think so.

  • Did you write that in a fit of rage? For one thing that analogy doesn't work at all, it's just a lame attempt at an insult.

I'm not saying "Baltimore is a shithole", I'm saying "I'm not surprised she's not saying Baltimore is a shithole". How is not accepting the Mayor's opinion ignorant while blindly accepting it despite having no personal experience not?

The only logic I can find in that kind of thinking is troll logic.

  • @nonnynay

It wasn't an insult. It was an good analogy which only a troll like you wouldn't accept. Can you tell me one leader of anything that is going to say "yes, what i head is a piece of shit."? Really? you're kidding yourself then. You have to visit a place before you degrade it, as you have.

  • It wasn't a good analogy, because it's nothing like what I wrote. A good analogy would have been "I know nothing about your mother, but I'm not surprised you're not calling her a whore".

Read what I've wrote and you'll realise you just agreed with me. No Mayor would say their city is a dump, so them saying it isn't a dump is obvious.

I don't know much about Baltimore that's why I haven't degraded it. Read my original comment. You will see this.

  • She reminds me of Nerese

  • Nerese is Sheila Dixon just like Carcetti is Martin O'Malley. I love how excited she is to see Simon trash the media - season 5 is when Nerese proves to be one of the slimiest characters in the whole run of the show and there's no way Dixon wouldn't take that personally (nor secretly admit that every last detail is true to life).

  • How funny is this !

She said at the top, The Wire is not Baltimore, a few months later she arrested for stealing gift cards intended for the less fortunate.

It goes way beyond ironic, my English fails me.

David Simon doesnt need to make it up !

    Beautiful !

  • It's Bush's fault!

  • im from bmore and everything on the wire is true

  • She is lying. I lived in Baltimore city forever and just about ever corner has a deep reflection of the wire. Only it's worse. She steals anyway, that should tell you everything you need to know about how much she cares about the struggles of citizens in this city.

  • head in sand anyone?

  • Well she would say that, wouldn't she?

  • THIEF!

  • aint' that the truth

  • Narese!

  • SHE LIES!

The Wire is a perfect representation of what Balitimore is really like.

  • None of you can spell

  • wasn't she done for corruption or was it another Mayor?

  • Yeah, she was indicted for using gift cards for the poor on herself to buy random crap, fur coats and playstations.

  • she's on trial as we speak, for taking gift cards donated for poor inner city kids and spending them on herself

  • oh man i knew she was in trouble for something but i didnt know what....thats great... i mean not great for the kids but it just goes to show u how true the show is....she sounds like a cross between nerese campbell and clay davis

  • and to smoldie theres no point in even try and another problem will the politics in that city is that the city officials keep trying like mayor dumb dixon to sugercoat the citys' problems instead of trying to fix them the lady is out of touch way way out of touch and until Baltimore gets a mayor thats' intelligent and knows what they are talking about the population will continue to go down even futher.

  • and dont' write to me cause I will not respond to any more of your foolish comments and a word of advice grauate from high school first and then come back and talk to me when you get on my level of matureity.

  • To meekmop please shut up I and people formerly from Baltimore who are realize that this city is beyond helping it doesnt' take a college graduate to figure that out the smart ones are the ones who leave who want to make something of themselves behind hanging on the corner and not getting anywhere in life. no honey I not the problem and judging by the way you spell that city s' not helping you either. maybe when you get enough more common sense you will leave that useless city too.

  • @Antwoine19

Meekmop's right. You are simply proving his point with this response. You are the problem.

  • no meekmop is wrong first off: Im one many former baltimore resident who woke up and saw the city for what it really is, second the problem with baltimore is that most resident there want to live off the government instead of bettering themselves, third: I havent' lived in that dump for six years and I thank god, and fourth: theres no future in that city,

  • Sheila Dixon comes off as an inarticulate idiot. David Simon needs to run for mayor.

  • He'd win.

  • a city cant' become better unless its' citizens are willing to change their way of thinking but the reality is Baltimore will never become better until the people there change their attitudes toward education and other things.this city needs lots of prayer a lot

  • Yep your right.

  • How about putting the bible/Koran/Torah down and becoming fully engaged in the political process locally; within the crumbling infrastructure that has failed so many of the populace for generations.

  • This poor city needs help and I so glad I left I dont' even like calling my self a Baltimore native. great city I think mayor Dixon needs to take a second look at that city failing schools, a corrupt police force , high crime, dirty streets, no to mention a bad football team.nobody or anything can help that city its' in the pits,I think most people on here would agree.

  • You are part of the reason the city is in the codition it's in. They say they have no part in it, when really, they are who destroys the city. You have destroyed this city. Luckly people who are smarter than you are actually doning someting about it instead of neglecting the city, leaving it behind, like you. Please, take time to realize this truth

  • I have lived & worked in Baltimore all of my life which entitles me to say the following: THE WIRE is unequivocally the most accurate portrayal of Baltimore's political & drug culture ever presented. Shockingly prescient, one merely needs to watch the 5 o'clock news for proof of the problems that local politicians so desperately try to sugar coat. Mayor Dixon's squirming as she stammers to answer the questions presented her are clearly the result of one undeniable fact - THE TRUTH HURTS!

  • jalphabet5 your right, It feels like politics all over the world. Politicians spinning the obvious failures is depressingly prevalent where every there is deprivation and a crumbling infrastructure. Peace and continued Wire love bro from a fellow convert.

  • Comment removed

  • I've never been to Baltimore, but she sounds like shes just feeding people political platitudes, and doing everything that the show is criticizing the institutions for.

  • I've never been to Baltimore or even America before but she sounds so full of shit to me too. Especially @2:20 when she starts to say the media portrayal in the Wire is accurate but of coursssssssse, everything else negative to her isn't. Big WHATEVERRRR!

  • Apathy. That mother fucking city gave up years ago.

  • Sheila Dixon the Mayor? Oh, my goodness! You go girl! You've come a long way since the karate school days. I'm happy for you. Keep up the good work. I'm a long way from baltimore now but I remember you. Kick ass Sheila!

  • Your "percentage basis" statement is premised not on facts, but on your own jaundiced biased view of the world. What percentage of blacks elected to statewide office have been indicted or convicted? Can you name one? I can't. But I can name Stevens, Vitter, Gov. Ryan, Gov. Blago.

As for Democrats "almost always" being the ones in trouble, how are Rep. Cunningham and Scooter Libby doing? Surely you can't be so biased that you refuse to see that broken politics knows no party or race.

  • sure i agree that there are crooks in both parties, they are politicians after all, but every black politician i have ever seen acts just like the black basketball and football players, they act like verybody owes them something, they are almost gods simply because of their position in life, well fuck that. and by the way, there are a lot more arrests and convitions of democrats than repubs, you might want to do some fact checking and realize that im telling the truth

  • Why such racial terms? Dixson's transgressions are no more racial than Sen. Ted Stevens', Maj. Leader Tom DeLay's, Rep. Mark Foley's, or Sen. Larry Craig's. Additionally, the examples of exceptional black leadership abound: Rep. John Lewis, Rep. Artur Davis, Adrian Fenty, Cory Booker.

This isn't about the pigment of anyone's skin. It's about a politician's breach of the public trust. That's always misfortunate, race notwithstanding.

  • Wow, Dixon indicted on theft and perjury charges.

Somewhere Clay Davis is smiling thinking

    SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!

  • LOL SHEEEEEEEYAT

  • Nerese would eat her alive

  • she's dumb. in one breath she says the wire isn't reflective of Baltiomre, in the next breath she talks about being inspired by their critique of the city's failing school and realising something needs t be done about them lol

  • hey she really likes the show.. she's just a little grumpy that she's the one who ends up fielding off all the negative publicity about her city.

  • Ha! She sounds just like one of the characters in The Wire! I don't know what I would say, were I in her position, but she clearly misses the point.

  • no she doesn't. she's just acting, that's her job.

  • Damn, the feds raided her home. Life intimidating art?

  • As Americans we should hate all politicians. The fact that some can actually look up to any of these people, I don't care who, is a sign of someone who needs a healthy injection of reality.

  • all baltimore politicians probably hate the wire

  • @deadfresh10 Bet dey fukkin luv it now. lol now that it's off da air. i wonder how they would feel about "The Wire The Movie"???.

  • They don't call it Bodymore, Murdaland...for nothing...Avon Barksdale and Marlo Stainsfield only represent for at least 30 years of thugging...the Godfather of Baltimore Melvin Williams...politiced with Carlos Gambino and Paul Bonnano...from the 5 families in New York...back in the mid 70's...West Baltimore versus EastBaltimore rivalries..beefs with different housing projects..the poverty..she lives in the county and is worried about tourism for the harbor..dead bodies are in abandoned houses

  • She looks like a good looking woman who's best days are behind her.

  • she aint no model man, she a politian

  • You right

  • yo she even looks like Narice.

Simon had the local pols down pat - Carcetti as O'Malley, anyone?

  • Yup she Does look like Narice

  • Sad that even Afro-Americans who are politicians have to save face instead of tell the truth. Ask "Snoop" Pearson if The Wire reflects Baltimore, and see and hear what her answer is! I'm from Philly, and although we've been number one for homicides with a handgun the past three years, guess what city is right up there with us? .... in fact, the Baltimore/ D.C. area held this infamous "crown" so to speak long before Philly did, and she comes out of her mouth saying that about the show? Wake up!

  • I live in Baltimore, this city is F*cuekd Up. The police are terrible, the city inept. The city is dirty, crime rules the streets. I moved here for school, can't wait to leave.

  • haha

  • bmore is truly a forgotten city in many people's eyes. but there's so much to love about this town, and these problems discussed on THE WIRE can be addressed and resolved if people learn how to listen

  • She is a bit contradicting if you ask me. She says the show doesn't reflect B-More, but then she turns around and says the school issues & police issues are things that occur in B-more; so how is the show not reflecting aspects of B-More?

+ David NEVER said the show was about all of B-More. And of course the type of things that happen in the show (or in B-More) also happen across the U.S & possibly The World, no one is denying that. If she truly watch the show, she would know this.

  • She's a politican and the Mayor - what do you expect her to say? Sure, there are positive aspects to Baltimore but that's not the focus of The Wire.

  • all cities are urban dumb bitch

  • no they are not stfu

  • This is the female Clay Davis! She's full off shheeeeeiiiiitttt !!!!

  • rofl . soo fucking true. she just feels caught out that the character is soo much like her.

  • AHAHAH! Whoever goes against her in the next elections should print that out on the campaign signs.

  • @tyniqua I think Councilwoman Nerese Campbell's character was based on Dixon.

  • i know the wire is fiction but it's based on ture things

welll i do thinks it reflects baltiomre because i watch the wire and i see the same stuff out side my house

for the record i live in baltiomre and things like that really happen so yeah

  • her nephew is juan dixon, he is one of my favorite players on the raptors,

I know the Wire is fiction, but 280+ murders for such a small city, thats sad, maybe colvins idea isn't so bad, we kinda have that here in vancouver, oh ya and the guns things too is kinda a problem, I looked at the map of all the homicides in 2007 and about 80% of them are all gun murders

  • wasnt juan dixon's father or grandfather a gangster in baltimore??

  • Oh my gosh! Thanks for posting this! Noreece looks just like her... haha, dude, said "have you seen the first episode [of this season] yet?", and she said "no, but i hope to"! rofl!
