at 1:38 it is completly rider error. he needed to colect his hors arounbd the turn and then gather up speed to have the right amount of stride to be able to clear the jumps and not risk his horse injure
this is the same course that Call Again Cavalier was put down on. Indoor eventing is not meant to be, the whole reason for eventing is to be in the open, it isnt meant to be ridden indoor as a jumper course! horrible!
well bacicly in the morning you have freestyle dressage to music, in the afternoon you have showjumping and then a pit stop where the rider gets changed in as little tm as possible then they do cross-country.
@horseshoequeen the "pit stop" thing is so ridiculous - in the rush and adrenaline to get changed and re-tack the horse as soon as possible, i feel like they could easily miss something, or put something too tight/loose - it could be really dangerous.
I wish someone could point out the sad confused horse in this. Even when he hesitates he's still willing obviously the hole time he's focused and looking for the next jump and in no way does this compromise safety anymore then other eventing especially considering half the jumps breakaway (unmlike in ful xc where jumps are all solid) Horses can take alot and alot of them prefer the idea of jumping in the open to being babied over weak jumps in a ring.
I think this confused the horses to be honest, and lets face it, as much as we hate this sort of thing, the health and safety will get so tight in eventing that in the end they will all be like this with stuards hiding at every jump to catch you when you fall off!
What do you mean, this guy can ride like no ones business. The prior comments must be from hunter riders who couldn't ride themselves out of the arena much less over a solid obstacle
They aren't knocking his ability to ride, it's the fact that Express Eventing is a bastardization of the sport. XC isn't meant to be ridden like a jumper course with solid fences..and the results of this competition only back up that fact.

they are trying to make eventing into a soccer match!! hate to break it to them, horses hate loud cheering and tight spaces!!!
i'm all for getting more spectators, but u will be traumatizing the horse at the same time.

i think this kind of defeats the purpose of cross country...

This is terrible for the sport of eventing. Out of the 19 competitors, only 6 finished the course. Never mind poor Cavalier.
Just awful.
