The Monkees didn't copy The Beatles, I watched a documentary on these guys with my mom but anyways there directer I think it was seen A Hard Days Night and got the idea to make a fictional band who were like The Beatles, and the directer or producer whatever had even talked with the Paul and John about it and they agreed. So they didn't copy, you really should watch more bio and documentary's on these guys.
