@BinaryAura You only have to hunt for the letters if you are not familiar with the keyboard. If you can type without having to look at the keys, then Swype can almost certainly be faster.
@BinaryAura Oh ho ho, is the person living a glass house throwing stones now? By the way, it's called Swype, not swipe. It's at trademarked name, and any other spelling is inherently incorrect. Unless of course you are trolling, then please disregard that.
It's like the Graffiti writing system theat Palm Handheld PDA's have had for a few years now. A bit more advanced, but same principle. Looks like we'll all have gone touchscreen in a couple of years time.
Get the free Writingpad app on the iphone app store. I don't think it's "proper" Swype, but it's the same thing, and it makes apple's softkeys look *retarded*. If apple doesn't capitalize on this tech at some point i'll be sorely disappointed; Typing on the thing is its number 1 weakness right now.
Karma, t9 has the same problem....if you want to write "FOG" and t9 output is "DOG"? No problem, just choose,as in Swype. But Swype is faster for all other non-ambiguous words.
To make Swype get "tip" instead of "top" (without going through the selection list), you move above the keyboard a bit from the "t", back down to the "i", and up a bit and down to the "p". Essentially, you make an artificial sharp corner at each letter.
I agree that this is not meant to replace the keyboard anytime soon. But i have used it on the iPhone and it simply crushes the original keyboard in speed. This should only be marketed towards cell phone use during text messages.
Well, you still have to "hunt" for the letters anyway, so I don't see why this is better. Remember Betamax?

@259 Seriously, you troll. That comment is 6 months old. You must work for them. I can't believe swipe is even still around.

how would u write a word with double letters like: gOOd, or faTTer??
t1lui 2 years ago
he does that with the word screen @ 20 seconds.
you just swype once, it figures it out

@jonnybryce
No, he didn't just let the the prediction algorithm "figure it out"
He made a scratch motion on the E, just look again at 20secs
00calvera 2 years ago
You draw a loop or circle over the letter you want doubled.
broderick127 2 years ago
Just "scribble" on the letter that is double, like make a swirl gesture, very simple.
SvB4EvA 2 years ago
To do double letters, you simply wiggle your finger a bit on that letter or make a little loop.

My brain dead when hunt-and-peck. It is definitely hard to be a next gen input method. Oizea Type is!

lawede, you can only use 2 fingers to write with a cellular phone, not 10.

well, how would you type(or swype ) "tip"? the same as "top". right? and how about "tup" ..

cuz i can type without looking at the keyboard
kelsun 3 years ago
Why Swype when you can type? Because I can type with 10 fingers but only swype with 1!
lawede 3 years ago
Looks pretty good, but typing can be just as fast as this.

typing is faster so screw this tech.

This seems to be an improvement over the current input technology for mobile devices. I would give it a try when it's available.
