This should be on a dvd. Im from the UK and everyone I show this to here is amazed, not by the skill level but the fact that without tutorials like these people just wud not find these things out for themselves. Awesome work dude.
aw, too bad i didn't know about plinking earlier. pretty much all the 1-frame examples he showed in this video were from trials that gave me a hard time, like rufus'.
i got all those by luck and now i need one more trial!!!
is it possible to plink abel's #24? it's: F+MK, dash, st.HP, M change of direction, focus cancel, F+MK, dash, st.HP
i read that the F+MK, dash, st.HP is a one frame link and there's two in that combo =/
Plinking is technically an advanced tactic and pretty much requires an arcade stick. So does pianoing. But don't kid yourself, if your an online player (usually those who just play for fun) then an arcade stick along with these advanced tactics like plinking or option selects are not necessary.
@VesperArcade or anyone. Alright, so what does it mean when I end up plinking the light attack instead???? In this instance, I'm doing Juri's cr.lk, st.lk , cr.mp xx pinwheel (Plinking the cr.mp). And at times, the game says I plinked the cr.lp. Making the cr.lp come out instead of the cr.mp. WTH does that mean?
I dont know what are you talking about of 1-frame link and 2-frame link :( For exemple, I saw the Ryu's frame data, and his crouch medium punch is "startup 4, frames on block 2 and frames on hit 5" and his crouch medium kick is "startup 5, frames on block -3 and frames on hit 0". I dont understand why is a 1-frame link in 0:38 or the two medium punch is a 2-frame link in 0:12
I haven't been a SSF4 player as much as a BBCS player, but most of my friends play SSF4 so just now decided to actually give it a serious go and these tuts are doing wonders for me. Still not getting the links to come out as consistently but with these tuts I am having them come out lot more than before. So thank again.
My question for you.
How did you get those costumes? That business costume for Viper is hawt and seeing as how I want to main her, I must know! :)
@Jweeeby Oh, you can buy those in the XBL market place or the equivalent for PS3 for Super Street Fighter 4. You can also get the original alts through Street Fighter 4.
Can You Pleace tell me how did you get the costumes pleace pleace pleace tell me how to get the costume's O when you tell me I am going to add you Is that ok with u well bye from mrnashi5 and you make the best video's ever then my brothe his user name is Toolove well mye
shouldn't double tapping be better for 2 frames links? if you think about it, double tapping should cover 3 frames. tap, neutral, tap. that way if you start 2 frames before the window to press a button opens up it'll still register. whereas if you plink you're 2 inputs will be too fast. your input will register from 2 frames prior to the link window up to the 2nd, also the last, frame to input the link. so you have a 4 frame window to input a 2 frame link.
Awesome stuff. I've heard of plinking b4 but couldn't get it down completely, execution and concept wise, but your tutorial covered it well...... About plinking for throw teching- 1. can't you just plink throw and say MP or MK as the throw has priority over said buttons and 2. With a 10 frame window (7 if its a crouch tech), would it even be necessary??
you say that plinking make a 1-frame link into a 2-frame link ?!? how ? I mean for me plinking is a convenient way of double tapping that's all. It does not modify properties of normals, am i right ?
@FishingYann You cannot double tap 1-frame apart, this was intended by Capcom. Plinking is a exploit that allow you to hit the same button 1-frame apart. Thus any 1-frame link has a 2-frame leniency and so on.
amazing as always ;] when i saw makoto i got happy that you're gonna show some plinks with her since i dont know those frame data things .. cant understand any of it (language issues) awesome tutorial .. gonna try it right away
@Hurley1080 To be honest the 360 controller is the first thing i thought of when i seen you can plink the back button with light punch, because the back button is in a convenient place unlike the arcade stick, not sure how many 1 frame links your main has that involve light punch
Great knowledge to share with the fighting community, very appreciated. Actually I was working on the Ibuki combo you show all day but before I saw this vid dam it! O-well, just looking forward to my next training session now :-)
Amazing tutorial as always, man. Thanks heaps! :D But there's one thing you missed... You actually CAN plink a LP. If you just use the LP button as your initial input and plink even a HK with it, the LP will come out and you will see the LP register twice like the plink format in the inputs display. I main Akuma and I use this plink to use his Ultra with just two inputs. LordOfUltima went over the very same technique in one of his Akuma tutorials.
@MagnusGoGo You do see LP register twice, but since HK takes priority over LP the game ignores it. Watch my Chapter 9 Part 1 Tutorial at the beginning.
@VesperArcade But it works for me. =\ I mean if I do it correctly, the LP comes out despite me plinking it with the HK, and that counts as two LPs from 1 input because I always get the Demon to come out using that plink and Back+LK+HP. Watch "Akuma 101: The Demon (part 2)" by lordofultima and skip to around 3:20 of that video and you'll see that he plinks the LP along with the HP and MP, and the LP comes out. It's one of the shortcuts he went over to perform the Demon.
@VesperArcade so how to you plink the LP button? for example, if you wanna perform a combo that requires you input a 1 frame LP button after LP or MP button before that. I know to plink MP button is MP~LP and to plink HP button is HP~MP because the system will register or prioritize the stronger punch button, but for LP is weakest punch button so I don't know how to plink it. Please help, thank you so much!
i tried to plink deejays dash in ultra to see if that would help. but it didnt. is there some specific way to get it all the time? i can do any other dash ultra but none of deejays!
I own the HRAP3 SA stick and the select/start buttons are actually on the front side where all the buttons are so I'm pretty lucky if I decide to use slinking :)
just learning all of these techniques from you just wants me to learn to use a fight stick. Thanks for your other tutorials i know what fight stick to buy. Keep it up Vesper!!!

@somstyle
indeed. links that are 2 frames or higher is proven to be more successful when double-tapped then plinked. 1 framers should always be plinked.
Hikarabita 1 year ago
@somstyle You are exactly right. I actually mention this at the end of the Chapter 9 series. This is why both double tapping and plinking are useful.
