@combatesdeboxeo Im not mad anything. weather Foreman would win or tyson would win doesnt effect my life in the least bit, i could care less! I would actually root for George but i just dont think its a likely scenario he wins this one, maybe Tyson avoided him but Tyson was always a self doubter and was on his way down mentally.....put 89 tyson vs any foreman and its a sure win for him, he still had Rooney and the fire and desire to crush anyone!
ey mrbumboclart, years ago i got a interview to michael spinks where he said "the people is very wrong , mike tyson is not the most powerful boxer, george foreman is" but i lost it whit my old pc. it would be great if you can get this interview
@combatesdeboxeo Foreman was a clubber and wore his opponents out for the most part until he landed the a bomb when his opponents couldnt take any more, how many 1 punch ko/s does foreman have?...I'll take tysons vicious blistering combos anyday over foremans slow heavy 1 punch clubbing shots!
@LCZ3GA yes it is because foreman called tyson tons of times and tyson ran from foreman, yeah obviously it is because tyson was pretty sure to win this fight, logic
Theres very little chance foreman would have won here.....everyone who says that Foreman would walk thru and break tyson is ignoring the fact that this was going to be bck in 190/91 when tyson was still at his most dangerous.....evryone who beat tyson in the late 90's era is not surprising hhis timing was gone, his speed slowed and he was 20 pnds overweight when his real weight was always 218/220! George would not have ever withstood tysons punches in bunches for more than 5 rnds back then..
It's funny how everyone only critiques Tyson after Cus D'Amato..smh..A Mike Tyson that wasn't discipline on drugs not training as hard heart broken over the death of his mentor/father figure/trainer and being used by the most piece of shit promoter/human being Don King..But hey whatever makes you guys feel better:)
Foreman had a style very bad for shorter swarming fighters because hed block the up and unders with his arms and was fairly good at catching shots in his glove little trick Jack Johnson made popular. And he would dominate over u pushing and jolting u backwards while swinging with mean intentions if TYson thought Holyfield was a strong man hed be seeing the strongest heavyweight in history in Goerge i see George breaking Mike mentally and stopping him quite easy.
George ran over Ken Norton and Joe Frazier and Koed Michael Moore who had beaten Holyfield who George lost too George was taking a heck of a beating in the Moore fight but had the heart and the courage as well as the power to grind out a tough night and ko Moore late. Tyson gifted physically but mentally he had too many trappings and weaknesses Cus himself use to show tyson footage of Foreman in his prime and told him to never fight someone like that because he would lose.
tyson didnt have a bad chin and the reason he lost those fight was cuz of fucken don king the only people who had a legit chance to beat a prime tyson under cus would be evander or george maybe
@scotthovsepian88 Foreman was never knocked out ? He fell to Ali from exhaustion plus he was up at 8 never to be given a rematch .Just name one fighter to put him down in his comeback ? Unlike Tyson who was stopped by Douglas , Holyfield , Lewis , Williams , McBride . Foremans chin is MUCH greater then Tysons ? Plus he is bigger , stronger , hits harder , longer reach 11 inches , plus 10 times the heart Lyle fight proves that . Anytime Tyson got knocked down more then once thats where he stayed
@scotthovsepian88 How can you compare the style of Tyson's to Lyles what bullshit ? Tyson was 5-10 with a 71 inch reach who was a swarmer puncher who fought on the inside . While Lyle was 6-3 with a 80 inch reach who was a boxer puncher that fought on the outside . Plus Foreman had just lost to Ali and hired a different trainer Clancey who had him fight different then the slugger he was to save his stamina . Plus Foreman did'nt have the same confidence where Lyle had just knocked out Shavers
Interesting and contrasting views here, however it is impossible to predict who would beat who from different eras! Prime Foreman v Prime Tyson would have been a cracker though! Both were awesome in their heyday.
Tyson would have beaten Foreman, Tyson was faster, and his punches did as much damage as foremans...would have been a good fight but Tyson would have walked away with the the Victory
Prime Lewis beats prime Tyson 101 times out of 100. Remember when Lewis wanted the McCall fight to continue and remember how Mike couldn't get to his feet when floored by 42-1 Buster Douglas.
I do agree with the poster that prime Foreman kills Tyson. I don't believe that 'old' Foreman wins but funnily enough- Mike did! "You fucking fight him," exact quote from 3 different humans. Pretty hard to fake memories of 3 people. Mike was Pe-tri-fied of old George, but would probably have won.
sinusbradycardia - disagree. Cus D'Amato ended the Catskills training sessions early because Lewis did in fact, dominate Mike. Remember what Mike said (years later I must say) when in his dressing room after Lennox knocked him out: "I could never beat him; he's too big and strong for me."
This fact - relatively short armed fighter cannot get inside - started in teenage years and was confirmed in a fight that Cus D'Amato told Mike to NEVER take.
when george was in his prime he may have been able to beat tyson, but with tyson's explosivness and sheer power he would have dimolished this aging legend
@DJAnd1Exclusive Absolutely. I don't think this overweight older Foreman would have done it in 2 rounds, but I figure he would have taken him out in the 3rd or the 4th. Cus D'Amato stated himself that anybody with a style in close range, and who is short, would get killed by Foreman. Cus told Tyson this. Í would go for his opinion. Foreman has an amazing chin, he wouldn't go down. Tyson's chin is OK. The style's are too different. Foreman would have destroyed him.
@michaelyouth Despite what Cus D'Amato may have said the majority of Tyson's opponents were taller and had more reach than him..Tyson had no problem cutting them down to size..I'm not taking anything away from Foreman he had plenty power and a strong chin, but Tyson had power, speed and tenacity..They always said Tyson has the power of a heavy weight and speed of a light weight..Foreman would not be able to keep up..A George Foreman highlights doesn't compare to that of Mike Tyson!
@DJAnd1Exclusive It's pretty obvious on film that Tyson looks better than Foreman. Tyson fought in the era of the superheavyweights. Fighters that had a game plan until they felt Tyson's power and tried to survive. Foreman never fought anyone with that combination of speed and power that Mike Tyson possessed.
@michaelyouth Tyson's chin is ok? Did you ever see him get thrown around the ring like a ragdoll like what Ron Lyle did to Foreman? Both have great chins but Tyson has the more durable one. He proved it by walking through bombs against huge puncher Ruddock, and did it with a smile. And there's no proof that Cus ever told Tyson that he in particular couldn't beat Foreman. Short swarmers like Dempsey, Patterson, Marciano and Frazier. Tyson was excluded. Bullshit myth that gets overblown.
@scotthovsepian88 Ron Lyle was a very hard puncher. But did you see George stay down? I've seen Tyson being knocked OUT by the likes of Buster Douglas and Kevin Mcbride. You might say Tyson was out of shape against Mcbride, but Foreman was 40 something, fat an out of shape and still gave Holyfield a good run for his money without even being knocked down after numerous combinations. I remember that didn't go the same for Tyson. There is no comparison in their chin. Their styles are too different
@michaelyouth Tysons not Foreman....when your 5'11 and have a huge reach disadvantage your timing is the most important thing next to speed.....foreman got away with being better at an old age b/c he had a better chin was much heavier and most importantly he was 6'3 6'4 and never had to worry about eating punches he knew he would eventually club ppl to death....foreman was never out of shape that was his body type...again tyson quit boxing for real when he hit 240 pnds in a 5'11 frame1
@SinisterMcDeth You are joking right? A better chin? Chin is not something you just develope. Sure you can have a stronger neck through excercise but Foreman has the same chin he had in his prime. Probably even had more ability to absorb punishment in his young years.
@michaelyouth not sure what your talking about the topic is Tyson vs Foreman.....formeman in his 40's still had a better chin than tyson and didnt need to be as accurate b/c of size and reach......but anyway if thats your argument i would still disagree with you having an improved neck and learning to take shots better does equal a better chin so it was an improved foreman, just as powerful, more relaxed and smarter fighter, new george wouls beat old george!
@SinisterMcDeth I think Foreman would destroy Tyson regardless of which ''George'' you talk about. But to say that the older Foreman was a better fighter is just not true. The younger one had a lot better stamina. The only thing the older Foreman did is use his stamina better, he wasn't giving it his everything in 1 round or 2 rounds. But the only reason he did that in his younger years is because:that's all he needed. The younger Foreman would kill the older one.Plus Foreman said that aswell.
@michaelyouth When you use your stamina better against someone who just has better stamina....guess who has the stamina advantage? the older foreman was a much smarter fighter,if he fought himself in a younger form he would be gassed in 2/3 rnds...the only conclusion i can think of is why he said that is he fought much tougher ppl back in the day obviously by the time he fought holyfield or even moorer he was over the hill.....39/40 yr old george is another story!
@Smileypie11 You do realise that excessive fat does nothing for your stamina? He only fought dumb against Muhammad Ali. But hey, anybody can lose against Ali. But this is going nowhere. I can just say that Foreman disagrees with you as he has stated that his younger self was far better than his older as he felt that he had too much weight to carry and his punching power was going down. Same with Cus D'Amato who said Foreman would kill somebody shorter and in closerange (Tyson/Frazier).
@michaelyouth Foreman never had "EXCESSIVE" fat, he was just a big guy who wasnt muscular with a slight belly, and you couldnt be more wrong, fat is the 1st source in the body that is used for fuel and he was in tremendous shape thats why he never had to sit and rarely tired.....Tyson is a sharper version of Frazier...prime mike had the greatest defense as a heavyweight in boxing history....half the time Frazier was blocking with his head?
@Smileypie11 your right about foreman.but tyson never had the best defence in HW history. What about a prime Ali? He couldnt be touched Jack Johnson the same.Ezzard Charles was better too.Tyson was a very underrated boxer but he wasn`t a guy that you couldnt hit.But the thing about Tyson, even the post prison bluffer version of him....he was a tough bastard,he could always hold a shot.
@mra19100 No way... Ali took punishment all the time, why do you think he has brain damage? Ali would always take a shot to the head just to counter punch to land 2 or 3 of his own ,even a young ali did not have tysons defense he just a stiff long jab and avoided shots by backing away while Tyson made you pay when you missed by trying to take your head off! Dont know about ezzard charles and johnson was not in the Era of Elite fighters !
@michaelyouth Foreman never fought anyone with Tysons speed and power that throws with combos, except holyfield who hits nowhere near like tyson....you cannot beat a well trained Tyson in the 90's era without speed,Tyson is also the most underatted defensivley fighter of all time..1990/91 he wins this fight and would be the 1st 1 to K.O him within 5 rnds...you put a guy like foreman in there and we would have seen the best Tyson ever as anyone knows what happens when hes motivated!
@SinisterMcDeth this comparison holyfield- tyson is simply stupid, evander holyfield was nothing like tyson, holyfield was longer and taller than tyson, evander got a better chin, more heart, more stamina and he could outbox foreman. styles make fights, foreman was a nightmare for tyson
@combatesdeboxeo All that would nt matter back in 90/91...evander would most likely get destroyed within 5 rnds, like i said anyone with speed would out box foreman..the only thing that can be said about holyfield is that he fought better competition and lost.he couldnt beat riddick bowe which tells me he wouldnt beat tyson........unless he fought the 20 pnd overweight and under trained tyson in which he did years later!
Prime Tyson destroys Lewis any day, all you who say he wouldn't know HE WOULD and are in denial inside your heads. You know it but you deny it. However could he beat Foreman? Probably not. Foreman had the perfect style to defeat a prime Tyson. But Lewis? Prime Tyson knocks him out in less than 2 rounds, 3 if he's lucky. Oliver got to Lewis easy in their first fight and all he needed was one shot. Just picture Tyson getting on the inside with his elusive defensive style and then landing...ouch.
jamesdh76 - what are you smoking? Lewis knocked out Tyson. Also dude, look up, on google, tyson vs. lewis the prequel. you will see even as teenagers lennox had mike's number.
@caesarcerf I have read and watched when they were teenagers. In the 1st round, Tyson with his furious style swarmed Lewis and got beat up. Then after the 1st round, Lewis' coach/trainer, asked him he wanted to continue. Lewis replied, of course I've him figured out. However, Lewis held his own, he didn't dominate or beat Tyson up. That is what I've seen and read.
@scotthovsepian88 In the late 80's and 90's Foreman was on many magazine covers claiming he could beat Tyson . He would call Tyson out after many of his fights chanting " WE WANT TYSON " WE WANT TYSON " . Misinformed ? Sports Illustrated April 29 , 1991 NO JOKE ! Then last year Don King said to Tyson " WE CAN FIGHT GEORGE FOREMAN " Tyson looked and replied " YOU LIKE HIM SO MUCH YOU FIGHT HIM " NO ! Sounds a lot like Lotiezos article does'nt it ? There are many more LOL
scotthovsepian88 - all i know on the subject matter; you illiterate security guard, are the facts. Tyson was owned by Lewis as a teenager in Catskill Ny and by 42-1 Buster Douglas and by Lewis in a fight Tyson thought he could win.
According to ALL promoters involved, Mike DID NOT think he could win, thus totally freaked out when offered big money to fight Foreman.
By the way Mike Tyson threw your Mamma down they crack house stairs last night!
Chvija1986 the only person saying Tyson would lose was Tyson himself, dude. Unimpeachable sources, including ALL promoters involved. Tyson was at some level a moral coward - when he was in over his head with Lewis, he melted. And he felt he had a shot against Lewis. With Foreman he felt he did not.
prime tyson vs prime foreman would have been a good fight, but i see foreman winning. Tyson was a more skilled boxer but george was the heavier puncher without doubt. foreman vs tyson would have looked like foreman vs frazier with mike laid out on the canvas.
Here's the real truth of Mike's crapping himself by a man IN the room with those trying to negotiate the fight: to to google.com and type in: why we never saw foreman tyson eastside boxing. then, just click on the results. as i say, Cus D'Amato said "no swarming short armed fighter had a chance against Tyson." Tyson took that to heart - then crapped his pants and begged off. Ironically, I don't think THAT version of Foreman would win: 70's Foreman - goodnight, Mike.
Jesus Lewis owned Tyson as teenagers in the catskills within 5 sparring sessions. Sonny Liston owns Tyson and knocks him out. Tyson had phenomenal speed but his arms, while long, simply don't allow him to compete with the giants - as we saw with Lewis. Fact of life, all the guys fantasizing otherwise doesn't change it. Holyfield? I firmly believe Evander Holyfield has been abusing steroids since 1986 and he heatbutts - like crazy. Mike beats a 'clean' Vander.
that's bullshit. scotthovespian88 Mike Tyson, in tears asked his Management Team not to fight Foreman whom he truly feared. Don King said and continues to confirm that; you're just making that bullshit up out of whole cloth.
Had Tyson had the nerve to fight George I THINK it would have been an horrific 12 round decision for Mike. Had the 70's version of Tyson stepped in - he's knocked out 11 times out of 10.
@caesarcerf What's bullshit? You knowing anything on the subject matter? Tyson had long arms? What the fuck are you going on about? Tyson always fought men bigger than him and he owned them. Lewis got sparked twice by one punch...against Tyson's sparring partner! Get the fuck off of here.
@caesarcerf Oh come on, Foreman was great but when Mike was boxing Foreman was too old, too slow for him... I understand all this talk, no one expects Foreman will say that Mikey will beat him but lets be real
@Chvija1986 It's fairly well documented that Tyson wanted no part of Foreman on the comeback trail. Around 1990 between Stewart and Ruddock it was the biggest fight out there for Tyson. Don King presented the idea to Tyson saying George was 'old and slow', Tyson flipped and said something along the lines of 'you love him so much you fucking fight him.' Watch Holyfield/Foreman. Foreman lost handily but Holyfield couldn't budge Foreman an inch. Tyson he ragged around the ring...
For anyone who thinks Tyson ducked Foreman, you're in for a surprise. It was the other way around. 3 times Don King approached Foreman for a fight with Tyson and all 3 times Foreman turned King down. Check out this link sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1140013/index.htm
Foreman called out Tyson hundreds of times with no answer . Its funny how Tyson called Holmes out of a two year retirement after losing twice to Spinks with not even a tune up fight to get ready , but completely avoided Foreman all together ? I guess Tyson feared the Frazier treatment lol
Tyson turned down 20 million in 1989 to fight Foreman but instead fought a 42-1 underdog who knocked him out and took away his heavyweight crown . LOL Foreman would never be a 42-1 underdog to anyone .Tyson again avoided Foreman on June 16th 1990 when after Douglas on the same card with Foreman .Tyson instead fought unranked Henry Tillman who beat him twice in the amatuers and cost him olympic gold , while Foreman faced top contender Adilson Rodrigues . In 1995-96 Tyson could of made 80 million
Go back watch Tyson in his prime in his early 20s watch the hand speed the head movement. Fella was never hit. Watch that and tell me a slow george forman was in his league. Sometimes I think people are living in fantasy land do you forget how good Tyson actually was????
@ricorice1 Exactly. People are forgetting how dominant Tyson was. He made his competition look like shit because of his dominance. Nobody else could do what he did. He was the perfect combination of speed and power, the perfect fighting machine. No one is unbeatable but Tyson was the best. In that short window of his peak he couldn't be touched. Just my opinion.
Better chin than tyso I dont think so...Tyso was never knocked down by one punch and he took a lot of hard punches from Douglas! Tyso was faster with tremendous combinations..Im not saying tyso would win but I wouldnt write him off so quick!
Mike was great in his prime but George was almost supernatural. Foreman had a better chin, harder punches, more heart etc. I dont know if Mike was scared to fight Foreman, but the styles favor Foreman tremendously. I think George would have beaten any version of Tyson.
You refer to sparring with the hard-hitting Cleveland Williams. What about when you sparred with Sonny Liston, George? Liston beat the hell outta Williams.
All the bullshit about Tyson being scared of Foreman is just that...BULLSHIT. Tyson would have teed off on Foreman at will, and it wouldn't have been pretty. As fate would have it George was lucky he never got in the ring with Mike and his legacy is actually better for it. Both great fighters but Tyson is greater.
@s: Mike grew up hearing his trusted mentor, Cus D'Amato, tell him that a fighter of Mike's style didn't stand a chance against a fighter like George, & how lucky Mike was that George retired. Mike believed Cus. Of course, that doesn't mean that George'd actually beat Mike, but: 1/George wanted the fight. 2/George was ranked highly enough to deserve the fight. 3/Don King wanted the fight. 4/It would've been Mike's biggest purse by far. The reason there's no Tyson / Foreman is that Mike refused.
@lazur1 You have the facts wrong. Don King approached FOreman with options for a Tyson-Foreman fight on 3 separate occasions and George turned him down all 3 times. First, Tyson took on a far more dangerous fighter in Razor Ruddock twice. Second, Foreman was in line to face Tyson after Tyson-Holyfield in '91. Third, Tyson-Bowe was the big fight everyone wanted to see after Tyson was released from prison. It would have been FOreman's biggest purse. Tyson could generate $30 mill against anyone.
@lazur1 Cus NEVER told Tyson he was lucky that Foreman retired. He said swarmers like Patterson, Dempsey and Marciano would get smashed. Tyson wasn't a swarmer. He was a skilled brawler with enough technical prowess to make Foreman shit the bed. Plus, Cus died before he saw Tyson develop into a complete fighting machine. It's a fuckin myth about what Cus said. But Tyson bludgeoning Foreman is far from a myth.
@s: Granted, neither of us was in the room w/Cus & Mike, I'll give you that, yet you claim to know more exactly what he said that moment. I'll go with my myth over yours :-), which also includes many witnesses to Mike's refusal. (Google "tyson scared of foreman")
@lazur1 ...written by hack job and Tyson hater extraordinaire Frank Lotierzo. That BS story has been debunked a thousand times over. Seriously, you believe everything you read on the web? There's a SPorts Illustrated story around the web somewhere by Phil Berger that dissected the negotiations between Don King regarding a Tyson-Foreman fight. It laid out the money being offered to FOreman by King and why Foreman and not Tyson, refused to take the fight.
@s: I must repeat; for all the surety you have about what -wasn't- said to Mike, how on earth can you be so sure what -was- said? "Debunked a thousand times"? Show me one. For the -many- Berger articles I've found, the "somewhere" one you mention doesn't seem to be available. The closest thing I've found is guys like you, (who may -be- you for l know know), at other forums, ranting about similar evidence, but never pinpointing its location. Show me.
@scotthovsepian88 OK! Got it! But I see no conflict in the two scenarios: A that point George thought his best bet was a Holyfield rematch. Having a different champion changed things a bit, wouldn't you agree?
@lazur1 Like I stated before, 3 times Foreman was approached for a Tyson fight and all 3 times he declined. I just presented you with proof. Your source comes from a hack writer/Tyson hater that NOBODY can prove. Lotierzo is a known Tyson hater. You can't believe a word he says since he's always running a smear campaign towards Tyson. You're welcome!
I love David Letterman. If I might put my 2cents in I think it's Leno's longer monologue that gives leno the edge because Leno is awful when it come to the interview but his longer monlologue gives him the edge not the lead in show as much I think. Letterman is so much better especailly with the interview
@1971pern George would have gotten beat by Tyson, then, or in George's prime. Back then, Tyson's defense was amazing (back when he trained hard). When he was trying to fight Tyson, he's have gotten demolished.
@Skullcracken My opinion is Frazier would have had a good chance of blowing up Mike Tyson, and we all know how Foreman dealt with Frazier. Tyson was a force, but there was really nobody to test him. When he was tested, he failed.
Love how Big George changed his life ..and became the funny cool guy relaxed and real ..from previous brooding angry mess really ..God came down for George and pulled him up ! He changed after Ali in Zaire ..became a new man and regained the heavyweight title ..just like bundini Brown said he would straight after losing to Ali ..amazing..something spritual there
@TechMaven Foreman was strong but he moved like a lumbering slug. Take a look at Tyson's training videos here on YouTube...He evades punches and freight trains opponents with tremendous power, agility and speed. No heavyweight ever existed with such accuracy and technique. Check out the videos!
@lifeschild1 A training vid has no relation to how someone fights a given fight..Tyson knew Foreman wouldn't be intimidated and and once Tyson didn't have that advantage, he rarely won the fight at hand. Case in point Quick Tillis..Tyson won on points..Tillis boxed well but had no power..Douglas (nuff said). Holyfield (twice) and near every fight after. In 1990, Foreman would have beaten Tyson.
@TechMaven Ok maybe your blind and can't see??! I'll accept that fact. The Douglas/ Holyfield fights came about when Mike had psychological problems from everyone trying to rip him off, like Don King/ his x-wife, putting him on psychotropic medications, etc..In his prime when Rooney and Cus were at his side he was unbeatable. I'm a Martial Artist for years and I could tell you first evenhandedly that Mike was the best at the game.
@lifeschild1 Cus D'Amato stated that Foreman would kill anybody who was shorter than him and fought in close range. It would be suicide according to Cus. Tyson coming in close is just great for Foreman, all he had to do was swing or uppercut him. Foreman wouldn't go down, as his chin was one the best in the history of boxing. Maybe just as good as Ali's chin. Tyson is great, but he would be a shooting duck for Foreman, his style is perfect for Foreman.
@michaelyouth You're entitled to your opinion even if you're wrong like you are. Foreman was a lumbering fool who could hardly move in his prime or afterwards. Tyson was so FAST and powerful that he'd move in like a freight train with knockout power thrown in both hands. Are you really this stupid? Check out Mike's fight knockouts! Don't right back I get the stupidity of your point...no need to keep saying the same crap...just look a t the knockout footage here online!
@lifeschild1 Listen you ignorant little prick. You can have a discussion with somebody without stating that the other one is stupid. Why are you getting so mad. I have seen Mike Tyson's knockouts, and the only one he is has knocked out, who was somebody, was a grandad of a an underprepared Larry Holmes. It still took him about 3 rounds to do it. Cus D'Amato said that Foreman would beat someone like Tyson. I'd rather listen to him, than to a prick like you.
@michaelyouth george was a terrible boxer in his prime but he got better as he aged tyson was epic but never got better if they were both in there prime tyson would kill him but in the 80's i wouldnt be able to call it
@1treim1 George was not a great scientific boxer, but he was an amazing fighter. He had a far greater chin than Tyson's, so he'd be able to endure some punishment. His punches could lift people of their feet. Tyson is a better boxer, but the style is too different. You can not fight Foreman on in the inside, if you are shorter than him and in close range. Ali beat him with a great tactic, Young and Holyfield, Morrison beat him on the outside. Tyson would be knocked out in 2 short rounds.
@1treim1 Prime ofcourse. George got a bit wiser, but in his prime he was a lot ,a lot and a lot more devastating. He lost I'd say about 30% of his punching power. I never saw him really lift people of their feet again. But that's normal after 10 years of inactivity plus he was a lot fatter. His stamina and endurance was far greater in his prime, he just wised up in his older years, but after Ali he went the distance too against Jimmy Young. He was foolish against Muhammad Ali.
@michaelyouth Don't get so upset my constipated anal retentive little friend, you'll hurt yourself. Don't write back anymore that's all. I'm virtually uninterested in your nonsensical diatribes. Try using an enema if medications do not work. Have a nice day.
@michaelyouth You really are dumb. I didn't mean literally that you are my friend asswipe!?!? Can't you read and understand what is read? Tell your mother to breastfeed you, it's time for beddy by!
@lifeschild1 Aha we have an internet hero over here. Yeah right I am going to fly about 8000 thousand miles to get to you in order for you to box with me haha.
@michaelyouth Really are you that far away...what planet did you say that you live on? We're here on earth, so if you ever get a chance to visit come to NYC!
@lifeschild1 You do realise the earth's perimeter is over 24000 miles. My IQ is dropping by 5 points every time I am responding towards an inbred like you.
@michaelyouth I am astounded by your nonfactual assumptions of having an IQ of any capacity whatsoever. It's unbelievable to me that you have any IQ at all. But at least it's a start for you. Please don't answer my comments any longer. I wouldn't want your IQ to drop below the 5 points you had suggested. I don't want to be held accountable for more stupidity than you have already delineated here in your lackluster commentaries.
would of been a great fight but think forman would of won anybody that fought tyson was ually scared to death and he really didnt have problems with taller fighters he had problems with fighters with a good jab and buster d proved that think forman had power shots but really could jab his way out of a fight in there prime they would of tried to take each others head off to that i say tyson
Big George turned out to be one of the most affable characters boxing ever produced, big guy with a big heart of gold,IMO he would've beaten tyson in prime or post prime
Its one of those fights that would have been a fans dream fight. Good vs Bad, Old lion vs Young lion, two great punchers who knocked people out! Whichever way it went it would have been a barn burner!
To bad Tyson's personal problems kept the fight from happening. It's a dream will all have, but George regained the title and the hearts of the fans. That's good enough for me.
OK, the discussion was, who wins in 1990? Anybody who thinks the tyson of 1990 beats the foreman of 1990 doesnt know anything about boxing besides what they see on you tube. And as far as tyson "doing well" against taller fighters...... did you ever see his fights against quick tillis, blood green, bonecrusher smith, tnt tucker? All big guys that he beat in HIS PRIME, all went the distance, all gave him trouble, and all were at BEST B quality fighters. Foreman vs Tyson (1990) = Foreman by KO!
I wouldn't be so quick to think a young Forman would have beaten a young Tyson, George threw big wide clubbing punches in his prime, sometime looking a bit clumsy Tyson was very fast and powerfull and would have got right up in Georges face. Technically Tyson was the better fighter. If I could see one fight in history it would be these two in there prime.
Young prime Foreman TKO's Tyson in Round 5 or Round 6. Old Foreman loses by decision... I think Old Foreman would be too slow for Tyson. Just look at the Moorer fight. Foreman was real slow in that even though Moorer was slugging with him all night long and it took him a long time to connect, plus Moorer's leads often forced Foreman back and staggered him. Tyson would be different, too much head movement and explosion, Tyson by UD against old Foreman...
Well said @salemkid1979! Its nice to find another student of the sweet science amongst all these highlight reel junkies. The fact was Tyson was indeed a gifted fighter and could have been an all time great had he not self destructed. However, he always had trouble with even 2nd or 3rd class BIG fighters. A world class big man like George would have destroyed Tyson of 1990.
Ask yourselves this... could the Tyson who got his ass handed to him by a bum like buster douglas could have beat a foreman who went 12 hard rounds with holyfield shortly thereafter? If Foreman had been in the ring with Tyson in tokyo, do you honestly think he wouldnt have beat him 100 times worse than Douglas! Maybe you should try watching water ballet or something......
I dont know boxing?! I watched Tyson's career start to end and by the time 1990 rolled around his great head movement and combination punching was GONE! By that point in his career he had strayed so far from his greatness that he was whipped by a BUM named Buster! Tyson beats Foreman before 1990, sure, but not at this point in his career. Maybe you should put more research into the subject and not get all your info from a Tyson highlight reel!
Lucky?! In 1990 Tyson had no head movement, threw one punch at a time, and was so mentally fragile that a bum like douglas whipped him almost every minute of their fight. My point is this, Foreman was better in every aspect that Buster and had been hit by some of the biggest punchers the sport has ever seen, how many times did you see him get kayoed ?! If you or anybody else thinks Tyson coulda beat Foreman in Tokyo should try a different sport....
Foreman is lucky he didn't get that fight, he would have destroyed him in much the same fashion as he did Larry Holmes. Tyson was too fast, too much head movement, hard to hit and hits you like a fucking mule kick on steroids. Tyson would have taken foreman in any stage of Foreman's career.
@salemkid1979 you could easily change tysons name for fraziers in that comment and what did george do to frazier? he nearly killed frazier TWICE.
its all about styles and tysons style ws suicidal against george younf or old and tyson knew it hence he point blank refused to fight 40 odd year old foreman
What are you kidding me?! Did you not see how awful Tyson was against ordinary Buster Douglas?! In his prime, yes, Tyson would have taken apart George, but in 1990, the Foreman would have destroyed him. Tyson didnt have the mental make up to deal with somebody who wouldnt fall down for him and he always had trouble with big guys. Had Foreman fought Tyson in Tokyo in 1990........ Foreman by tko/ ko inside of 8
george foreman would ko mike tyson before of 5 rounds, and the tyson fans can´t take the truth, they get mad
combatesdeboxeo 20 hours ago
@combatesdeboxeo Im not mad anything. weather Foreman would win or tyson would win doesnt effect my life in the least bit, i could care less! I would actually root for George but i just dont think its a likely scenario he wins this one, maybe Tyson avoided him but Tyson was always a self doubter and was on his way down mentally.....put 89 tyson vs any foreman and its a sure win for him, he still had Rooney and the fire and desire to crush anyone!

ReignSupreme287 3 days ago
George ran over Ken Norton and Joe Frazier and Koed Michael Moore who had beaten Holyfield who George lost too George was taking a heck of a beating in the Moore fight but had the heart and the courage as well as the power to grind out a tough night and ko Moore late. Tyson gifted physically but mentally he had too many trappings and weaknesses Cus himself use to show tyson footage of Foreman in his prime and told him to never fight someone like that because he would lose.
ReignSupreme287 3 days ago
tyson didnt have a bad chin and the reason he lost those fight was cuz of fucken don king the only people who had a legit chance to beat a prime tyson under cus would be evander or george maybe

Anytime Tyson got knocked down more then once thats where he stayed
pfitzger2e1 3 days ago
@scotthovsepian88 How can you compare the style of Tyson's to Lyles what bullshit ? Tyson was 5-10 with a 71 inch reach who was a swarmer puncher who fought on the inside . While Lyle was 6-3 with a 80 inch reach who was a boxer puncher that fought on the outside . Plus Foreman had just lost to Ali and hired a different trainer Clancey who had him fight different then the slugger he was to save his stamina . Plus Foreman did'nt have the same confidence where Lyle had just knocked out Shavers

Mike was Pe-tri-fied of old George, but would probably have won.
caesarcerf 5 days ago
sinusbradycardia - disagree.

Mike Tyson ducked George Foreman. And he was smart to do that, because he would get beaten in 2 short rounds.
michaelyouth 6 days ago 2
@michaelyouth I agree the Don King Mike Tyson would have gotten beating, but could you make the same statement about the Cus D'Amato Mike Tyson?
DJAnd1Exclusive 5 days ago
@DJAnd1Exclusive Absolutely. I don't think this overweight older Foreman would have done it in 2 rounds, but I figure he would have taken him out in the 3rd or the 4th. Cus D'Amato stated himself that anybody with a style in close range, and who is short, would get killed by Foreman. Cus told Tyson this. Í would go for his opinion. Foreman has an amazing chin, he wouldn't go down. Tyson's chin is OK. The style's are too different. Foreman would have destroyed him.
michaelyouth 4 days ago
@michaelyouth Despite what Cus D'Amato may have said the majority of Tyson's opponents were taller and had more reach than him..Tyson had no problem cutting them down to size..I'm not taking anything away from Foreman he had plenty power and a strong chin, but Tyson had power, speed and tenacity..They always said Tyson has the power of a heavy weight and speed of a light weight..Foreman would not be able to keep up..A George Foreman highlights doesn't compare to that of Mike Tyson!
DJAnd1Exclusive 4 days ago
@DJAnd1Exclusive It's pretty obvious on film that Tyson looks better than Foreman. Tyson fought in the era of the superheavyweights. Fighters that had a game plan until they felt Tyson's power and tried to survive. Foreman never fought anyone with that combination of speed and power that Mike Tyson possessed.
scotthovsepian88 4 days ago
@scotthovsepian88 Exactly
DJAnd1Exclusive 3 days ago
@michaelyouth Tyson's chin is ok? Did you ever see him get thrown around the ring like a ragdoll like what Ron Lyle did to Foreman? Both have great chins but Tyson has the more durable one. He proved it by walking through bombs against huge puncher Ruddock, and did it with a smile. And there's no proof that Cus ever told Tyson that he in particular couldn't beat Foreman. Short swarmers like Dempsey, Patterson, Marciano and Frazier. Tyson was excluded. Bullshit myth that gets overblown.
scotthovsepian88 4 days ago
@scotthovsepian88 Ron Lyle was a very hard puncher. But did you see George stay down? I've seen Tyson being knocked OUT by the likes of Buster Douglas and Kevin Mcbride. You might say Tyson was out of shape against Mcbride, but Foreman was 40 something, fat an out of shape and still gave Holyfield a good run for his money without even being knocked down after numerous combinations. I remember that didn't go the same for Tyson. There is no comparison in their chin. Their styles are too different
michaelyouth 4 days ago
@michaelyouth Tysons not Foreman....when your 5'11 and have a huge reach disadvantage your timing is the most important thing next to speed.....foreman got away with being better at an old age b/c he had a better chin was much heavier and most importantly he was 6'3 6'4 and never had to worry about eating punches he knew he would eventually club ppl to death....foreman was never out of shape that was his body type...again tyson quit boxing for real when he hit 240 pnds in a 5'11 frame1
SinisterMcDeth 3 days ago
@SinisterMcDeth You are joking right? A better chin? Chin is not something you just develope. Sure you can have a stronger neck through excercise but Foreman has the same chin he had in his prime. Probably even had more ability to absorb punishment in his young years.
michaelyouth 2 days ago
@michaelyouth not sure what your talking about the topic is Tyson vs Foreman.....formeman in his 40's still had a better chin than tyson and didnt need to be as accurate b/c of size and reach......but anyway if thats your argument i would still disagree with you having an improved neck and learning to take shots better does equal a better chin so it was an improved foreman, just as powerful, more relaxed and smarter fighter, new george wouls beat old george!
SinisterMcDeth 2 days ago 2
@SinisterMcDeth I think Foreman would destroy Tyson regardless of which ''George'' you talk about. But to say that the older Foreman was a better fighter is just not true. The younger one had a lot better stamina. The only thing the older Foreman did is use his stamina better, he wasn't giving it his everything in 1 round or 2 rounds. But the only reason he did that in his younger years is because:that's all he needed. The younger Foreman would kill the older one.Plus Foreman said that aswell.
michaelyouth 2 days ago
@michaelyouth When you use your stamina better against someone who just has better stamina....guess who has the stamina advantage? the older foreman was a much smarter fighter,if he fought himself in a younger form he would be gassed in 2/3 rnds...the only conclusion i can think of is why he said that is he fought much tougher ppl back in the day obviously by the time he fought holyfield or even moorer he was over the hill.....39/40 yr old george is another story!
Smileypie11 2 days ago 2
@Smileypie11 You do realise that excessive fat does nothing for your stamina? He only fought dumb against Muhammad Ali. But hey, anybody can lose against Ali. But this is going nowhere. I can just say that Foreman disagrees with you as he has stated that his younger self was far better than his older as he felt that he had too much weight to carry and his punching power was going down. Same with Cus D'Amato who said Foreman would kill somebody shorter and in closerange (Tyson/Frazier).
michaelyouth 2 days ago
@michaelyouth Foreman never had "EXCESSIVE" fat, he was just a big guy who wasnt muscular with a slight belly, and you couldnt be more wrong, fat is the 1st source in the body that is used for fuel and he was in tremendous shape thats why he never had to sit and rarely tired.....Tyson is a sharper version of Frazier...prime mike had the greatest defense as a heavyweight in boxing history....half the time Frazier was blocking with his head?
Smileypie11 1 day ago
@Smileypie11 your right about foreman.but tyson never had the best defence in HW history. What about a prime Ali? He couldnt be touched Jack Johnson the same.Ezzard Charles was better too.Tyson was a very underrated boxer but he wasn`t a guy that you couldnt hit.But the thing about Tyson, even the post prison bluffer version of him....he was a tough bastard,he could always hold a shot.
mra19100 1 day ago
@mra19100 No way... Ali took punishment all the time, why do you think he has brain damage? Ali would always take a shot to the head just to counter punch to land 2 or 3 of his own ,even a young ali did not have tysons defense he just a stiff long jab and avoided shots by backing away while Tyson made you pay when you missed by trying to take your head off! Dont know about ezzard charles and johnson was not in the Era of Elite fighters !
Smileypie11 1 day ago
@michaelyouth Foreman never fought anyone with Tysons speed and power that throws with combos, except holyfield who hits nowhere near like tyson....you cannot beat a well trained Tyson in the 90's era without speed,Tyson is also the most underatted defensivley fighter of all time..1990/91 he wins this fight and would be the 1st 1 to K.O him within 5 rnds...you put a guy like foreman in there and we would have seen the best Tyson ever as anyone knows what happens when hes motivated!
SinisterMcDeth 2 days ago
@SinisterMcDeth this comparison holyfield- tyson is simply stupid, evander holyfield was nothing like tyson, holyfield was longer and taller than tyson, evander got a better chin, more heart, more stamina and he could outbox foreman. styles make fights, foreman was a nightmare for tyson
combatesdeboxeo 1 day ago

Just picture Tyson getting on the inside with his elusive defensive style and then landing...ouch.

scotthovsepian88 - all i know on the subject matter; you illiterate security guard, are the facts.

Ironically, I don't think THAT version of Foreman would win: 70's Foreman - goodnight, Mike.
caesarcerf 1 week ago
Jesus Lewis owned Tyson as teenagers in the catskills within 5 sparring sessions. Sonny Liston owns Tyson and knocks him out. Tyson had phenomenal speed but his arms, while long, simply don't allow him to compete with the giants - as we saw with Lewis. Fact of life, all the guys fantasizing otherwise doesn't change it. Holyfield? I firmly believe Evander Holyfield has been abusing steroids since 1986 and he heatbutts - like crazy. Mike beats a 'clean' Vander.
caesarcerf 1 week ago
that's bullshit. scotthovespian88 Mike Tyson, in tears asked his Management Team not to fight Foreman whom he truly feared. Don King said and continues to confirm that; you're just making that bullshit up out of whole cloth.

All the bullshit about Tyson being scared of Foreman is just that...BULLSHIT. Tyson would have teed off on Foreman at will, and it wouldn't have been pretty. As fate would have it George was lucky he never got in the ring with Mike and his legacy is actually better for it. Both great fighters but Tyson is greater.
scotthovsepian88 1 week ago
@s: Mike grew up hearing his trusted mentor, Cus D'Amato, tell him that a fighter of Mike's style didn't stand a chance against a fighter like George, & how lucky Mike was that George retired. Mike believed Cus. Of course, that doesn't mean that George'd actually beat Mike, but: 1/George wanted the fight. 2/George was ranked highly enough to deserve the fight. 3/Don King wanted the fight. 4/It would've been Mike's biggest purse by far. The reason there's no Tyson / Foreman is that Mike refused.
lazur1 1 week ago
@lazur1 You have the facts wrong. Don King approached FOreman with options for a Tyson-Foreman fight on 3 separate occasions and George turned him down all 3 times. First, Tyson took on a far more dangerous fighter in Razor Ruddock twice. Second, Foreman was in line to face Tyson after Tyson-Holyfield in '91. Third, Tyson-Bowe was the big fight everyone wanted to see after Tyson was released from prison. It would have been FOreman's biggest purse. Tyson could generate $30 mill against anyone.
scotthovsepian88 1 week ago
@lazur1 Cus NEVER told Tyson he was lucky that Foreman retired. He said swarmers like Patterson, Dempsey and Marciano would get smashed. Tyson wasn't a swarmer. He was a skilled brawler with enough technical prowess to make Foreman shit the bed. Plus, Cus died before he saw Tyson develop into a complete fighting machine. It's a fuckin myth about what Cus said. But Tyson bludgeoning Foreman is far from a myth.

It laid out the money being offered to FOreman by King and why Foreman and not Tyson, refused to take the fight.

@s: I catch your drift, but to re-phrase for the last time: Your case'd be stronger if you didn't claim to know what Cus "really" said to Mike.

I love David Letterman. If I might put my 2cents in I think it's Leno's longer monologue that gives leno the edge because Leno is awful when it come to the interview but his longer monlologue gives him the edge not the lead in show as much I think. Letterman is so much better especailly with the interview

1971pern 1 week ago
@1971pern Yes. Tyson was a scum bag and no George Foreman would not have hurt him at all. lol
theyoozernaim 1 week ago
@1971pern George would have gotten beat by Tyson, then, or in George's prime. Back then, Tyson's defense was amazing (back when he trained hard). When he was trying to fight Tyson, he's have gotten demolished.
Skullcracken 1 week ago

Amazing to think that a few weeks after this interview, Buster Douglas changed everyone's career plans.

In....1990....Foreman....would...have...beaten....Tyson....You've apparently taken way too many kicks to the head. And you called me blind.
TechMaven 2 weeks ago
Foreman has brain damage to think he could have beaten Tyson...Typical brain damage from a real nice guy.
lifeschild1 2 weeks ago
@lifeschild1 Foreman had the power and mindset to have beaten Tyson..Don't kid yourself.
TechMaven 2 weeks ago
@TechMaven Foreman was strong but he moved like a lumbering slug. Take a look at Tyson's training videos here on YouTube...He evades punches and freight trains opponents with tremendous power, agility and speed. No heavyweight ever existed with such accuracy and technique. Check out the videos!
lifeschild1 2 weeks ago
@lifeschild1 A training vid has no relation to how someone fights a given fight..Tyson knew Foreman wouldn't be intimidated and and once Tyson didn't have that advantage, he rarely won the fight at hand. Case in point Quick Tillis..Tyson won on points..Tillis boxed well but had no power..Douglas (nuff said). Holyfield (twice) and near every fight after. In 1990, Foreman would have beaten Tyson.
TechMaven 2 weeks ago

Tyson is great, but he would be a shooting duck for Foreman, his style is perfect for Foreman.
michaelyouth 1 week ago in playlist Liked videos

I'd rather listen to him, than to a prick like you.
michaelyouth 1 week ago
@michaelyouth george was a terrible boxer in his prime but he got better as he aged tyson was epic but never got better if they were both in there prime tyson would kill him but in the 80's i wouldnt be able to call it
1treim1 1 week ago
@1treim1 George was not a great scientific boxer, but he was an amazing fighter. He had a far greater chin than Tyson's, so he'd be able to endure some punishment. His punches could lift people of their feet. Tyson is a better boxer, but the style is too different. You can not fight Foreman on in the inside, if you are shorter than him and in close range. Ali beat him with a great tactic, Young and Holyfield, Morrison beat him on the outside. Tyson would be knocked out in 2 short rounds.
michaelyouth 1 week ago
@michaelyouth are you talkin both in each others prime or wen george got old and wise
1treim1 1 week ago
@1treim1 Prime ofcourse. George got a bit wiser, but in his prime he was a lot ,a lot and a lot more devastating. He lost I'd say about 30% of his punching power. I never saw him really lift people of their feet again. But that's normal after 10 years of inactivity plus he was a lot fatter. His stamina and endurance was far greater in his prime, he just wised up in his older years, but after Ali he went the distance too against Jimmy Young. He was foolish against Muhammad Ali.

would of been a great fight but think forman would of won anybody that fought tyson was ually scared to death and he really didnt have problems with taller fighters he had problems with fighters with a good jab and buster d proved that think forman had power shots but really could jab his way out of a fight in there prime they would of tried to take each others head off to that i say tyson

Big George turned out to be one of the most affable characters boxing ever produced, big guy with a big heart of gold,IMO he would've beaten tyson in prime or post prime
harvest21021982 2 weeks ago
Its one of those fights that would have been a fans dream fight. Good vs Bad, Old lion vs Young lion, two great punchers who knocked people out! Whichever way it went it would have been a barn burner!

George is one brilliant interview!
Wutangspam 2 weeks ago

Foreman vs Tyson (1990) = Foreman by KO!
cheyenne6430 2 weeks ago
Listen, Tyson in his prime vs. George in his prime, Tyson wins hands down, no question.
IamMannix 2 weeks ago
I wouldn't be so quick to think a young Forman would have beaten a young Tyson, George threw big wide clubbing punches in his prime, sometime looking a bit clumsy Tyson was very fast and powerfull and would have got right up in Georges face. Technically Tyson was the better fighter. If I could see one fight in history it would be these two in there prime.
DEANR0BERTS 2 weeks ago
@DEANR0BERTS Also Tyson always did well against taller fighters than himself.. suited his style. I say Tyson wins that one.
pitznpie 2 weeks ago
Hmmmm...
Tyson would be different, too much head movement and explosion, Tyson by UD against old Foreman...
truebeliever786 2 weeks ago
Well said @salemkid1979! Its nice to find another student of the sweet science amongst all these highlight reel junkies. The fact was Tyson was indeed a gifted fighter and could have been an all time great had he not self destructed. However, he always had trouble with even 2nd or 3rd class BIG fighters. A world class big man like George would have destroyed Tyson of 1990.
cheyenne6430 2 weeks ago
Ask yourselves this... could the Tyson who got his ass handed to him by a bum like buster douglas could have beat a foreman who went 12 hard rounds with holyfield shortly thereafter? If Foreman had been in the ring with Tyson in tokyo, do you honestly think he wouldnt have beat him 100 times worse than Douglas! Maybe you should try watching water ballet or something......
cheyenne6430 2 weeks ago
I dont know boxing?! I watched Tyson's career start to end and by the time 1990 rolled around his great head movement and combination punching was GONE! By that point in his career he had strayed so far from his greatness that he was whipped by a BUM named Buster! Tyson beats Foreman before 1990, sure, but not at this point in his career. Maybe you should put more research into the subject and not get all your info from a Tyson highlight reel!
cheyenne6430 2 weeks ago
Tyson would have destroyed this old man
ferryvanextel 2 weeks ago
Tyson had no hear movement? You don't don't know boxing he had some of fastest hands and movements in history! By th way u got to love foreman
p30ironjaw 2 weeks ago
If you or anybody else thinks Tyson coulda beat Foreman in Tokyo should try a different sport....
cheyenne6430 2 weeks ago
Foreman is lucky he didn't get that fight, he would have destroyed him in much the same fashion as he did Larry Holmes. Tyson was too fast, too much head movement, hard to hit and hits you like a fucking mule kick on steroids. Tyson would have taken foreman in any stage of Foreman's career.
salemkid1979 2 weeks ago
@salemkid1979 you could easily change tysons name for fraziers in that comment and what did george do to frazier? he nearly killed frazier TWICE.
its all about styles and tysons style ws suicidal against george younf or old and tyson knew it hence he point blank refused to fight 40 odd year old foreman
eatthisvr6 2 weeks ago
Foreman would be too strong and relentless for any Mike Tyson. (The younger Foreman)
KASHLAMDA 2 weeks ago
What are you kidding me?! Did you not see how awful Tyson was against ordinary Buster Douglas?! In his prime, yes, Tyson would have taken apart George, but in 1990, the Foreman would have destroyed him. Tyson didnt have the mental make up to deal with somebody who wouldnt fall down for him and he always had trouble with big guys. Had Foreman fought Tyson in Tokyo in 1990........ Foreman by tko/ ko inside of 8
cheyenne6430 2 weeks ago
