I can stand the Brits too. But suggesting that The Garda will be better is wishful thinking to say the least. They are as corrupt as any police force, interested in fiddling overtime and fucking over the people. even if there was United Ireland you would still find some excuse to kill. @dannynavyboy1985 Omagh was another tragedy, alongside Ballymurphy, Bloody Sunday, Kingsmill etc. but where the people are denied their rights there shall be resistance; British rule lies as the cause for all deaths in Irish conflict. The 32CSM have nothing against Protestants, we are against Capitalism and Imperialism- not religion. The Roman Catholic church has been the enemy of the 32CSM as much as anyone else; Religion should not interfere with class politics.

Northern Ireland is LEGALLY part of the United Kingdom. Any armed forces stationed there are UK armed forces in UK territory. The people who live there are Irish NOT British. The British live on the island of Great Britain. The Irish live on the island of Ireland. What is it about that, that you are struggling to understand ? The Belfast Agreement and subsequent constitutional vote in Eire ratified the legal position. You may not want UK troops there, but they ARE here and they ARE here legally.

Although the Republican minority in Northern Ireland consider the British to be foreign, the Unionist majority see Northern Ireland as part of the UK.
There are no troops on active duty in Northern Ireland and if a majority in the 6 counties ever wanted a united Ireland it would happen with the blessings of the British government.
That doesn't sound like an occupation to me.

Under Article 3.1 of the Constitution of Ireland, there can only be a united Ireland if it is agreed to by a majority in Northern Ireland and the Republic separately.

Well many believe it is, because a foreign country is essentially ruling it. A union jack flag still hangs outside Stormont, town council buildings etc. Westminister still has a huge influence in decisions even with Stormont in operation.

The US flag hangs outside the Texas Legislature and Washington, D.C. still has control great over the state. Yet Texas isn't considered to be occupied by the US.

I agree it is their opinion that counts, but the 6 counties are on the island of Ireland. In 1921, if Westminister decided to include all of Ulster it would have easily had a nationalist Catholic majority. Counties such as Fermanagh have a Catholic majority now so if that is the case why don't they have a vote county by county?

Just because they have a Catholic majority, doesn't mean they have a Republican majority.
If a majority in those counties did want to leave the UK and join the Republic, I would support that. However, I think Ted Heath proposed something similar and the idea was thought to be divisive and likely to cause greater violence.

Yes they do have a Nationalist majority. In 2001, the proportion of the vote that went to nationalist candidates was 53.9%, while 43.4% went to unionist candidates.

I believe the vast majority who vote for Republican/Nationalist candidates, be it the SDLP, Sinn Féin etc do want a united Ireland, as this is one of these parties main aims. But, their are some who don't want it.

By the way, a real republican nationalist would never under any circumstances refer to Ulster (which includes Donegal) as Northern Ireland except in a postal address.
