  • everybody wants to talk about how great tyson was but did he really fight anyone?? i do think he was badasss in the ring with a big right hand and explosiveness. but lets face it he fought bums that don king found off the street. it was all about the image and the payday. when he fought big names he lost. lewis and holyfield twice showed him how good he was. who the hell else did he fight?????????????????????????????

  • But the Rock was legit and a hell of a fighter !!!! Defo in the Top 3 hw's of all time in my book, 1Tyson,2Ali,3Rocky =)

  • Boxing was run by the mafia mob in the 40's and 50's

  • Fith knockout blow was a great rabbit punch.

  • MADMAC you are clueless. What makes you an authority that all of a sudden Tyson easily beats Ali? You know nothing of boxing. Your argument only shows woulda shoulda etc...Ali has all the tools going for him against Tyson. While you can't really say who would win Ali has the better chance. He could dance for 15 rounds, the hardest punchers of all time failed to knock him out, faster overall, bigger heart. Tyson's stamina after 6 rounds was sketchy, never beat a count, average chin, no heart.

  • @NyyGyro Chin and heart. Tyson had more of that than your whole family.

  • @Mjolbaggar Did I bust a nerve little kid?

  • @vladiator100 I have never been in a pro fight or a amature fight but ive done a lot of sparring so i know how it is. Only idiots who have never boxed a round would say Tyson had no heart. Who are you? No one, thats who you are.

  • @Mjolbaggar Im an amateur boxer pursuing a pro career AND a US Marine. Who are you? Oh yeah some youtube user who came on here, saw a comment from someone else and got angry just because someone else stated facts you don't agree with. Thats who you are.

  • @Mjolbaggar agree people make stupid snap observations that tyson has no heart. In all of tyson's defeats he continued fighting till he was knocked-out. Its just usually when tyson was outboxed, he wasn't really able to changed it up to go to his favor. Maybe because of his style I dont know he has no other game plan.

  • @NyyGyro average chin no man, even lewis said after the fight I hit him with all my best shots and he just wouldnt go down. Check it out, tyson took some rounds after he was hurt before he was counted out.

  • shotgun speaks truth and so does onlyjoe...Marciano was a great fighter and a fine gentleman. technically, if he just could have learned to keep his elbows in tighter. In some ways though his style was a little like Tyson's. Though obviously not nearly as fast. But the importance of speed can be over rated. Both M and T were masters of different aspects of what the Chinese call Hsing I -- form and will/intention.

  • The Rock had incredible stamina.

  • just a quick question .did u edit the picture? the quality is great :)

  • Ali was very over rated. They couldnt beat him cuz of hi unorthodox style. They didnt know what to do. He was a good fighter but he had a nasty attitude and even if he had the belt i dont consider him a champion i consider him a dick who knew how to fight

  • evryone will have an opion and that is fine some will laugh at what i have said that is ok but one thing you can't dismiss-no one took the rock out. My dad who is long gone like the rock said he believed the only way to beat the rock was to kill him-otherwise- he would keep coming at you- here is one thing I will give the critisizers-some of rocks fights would be stopped for his bleeding-he did get hit,and cut today they would stop the fight for bleeding- but that is what if so his record stands

  • sorry to tell the last responder but Ali did spar with Rocky and Rocky beat his arms black and blue. Ali did cover up it was a short spar most could noot take it. How do I know my dad was one. He was a middleweight but sparred with all kinds of weight class guys because he could hit so hard. He sparred Robinson, and Charles, and Moore. Now my dad was not a world class fighter but he did punch well-of all the guys he worked with he said without exception the Rock hit twice as hard as anyone

  • @How4gospel yeah buddy. rocky is the best there is. if rocky just had the publicity that ali has, the public would change their mind.

  • @How4gospel haha and who said that they both sparred? they both have never sparred sorry to dissapoint you

  • @324582782 you may not call it a spar but they did glove up - my dad was there watch the video interview with cossell and ali - ali admits his arms were beaten up- he thought he was going to do that goofing around covering up that was his trademark- as I say my dad was there and in a brief time the rock had beaten his arms so bad he couldn't keep them up- the rock was old the rock was retired- if you can't cover up- then you will be hit- they stopped before further embarisment

  • @How4gospel lol ali said that he's a great hitter and said that i felt his punches while shooting the computerized fight. Sorry but it was not sparring, They were just playing and not even hitting. Sorry to say but i think your dad lied to you.

  • There is no way Marciano would have beaten Ali--please-- Marciano would have never hit Ali in his prime and every time Rocky moved forward he would have eaten jab after jab and straight right hands. BTW-- punch number 5 was a rabbit punch.

  • @crownedful Rabbit punch aint that big a deal and back then it was just another hit you had to take. I box a bit and get rabbit punched all the time, you just go with it and work throuhg it. No problem.

  • @crownedful Muhammed Ali HIMSELF admitted publically that he wasnt so sure he could whup this man.You can find that clip here on youtube...

  • @crownedful Don't be so sure. Marciano would not have been discouraged by Ali's jab. He was the kind of fighter boxers hate to fight - a pressure fighter you can't discourage. Ali was a great fighter, but you saw the kind of trouble that he had with Henry Cooper. If you look at the guys Ali fought in his years before his suspension, they were good fighters, but they were not pressure fighters. None of them could deal with Ali's foot speed. I also think a prime time Tyson would have beaten Ali.

  • @MADMAC572

Pressure fighter/swarmer, boxer, counter puncher. etc: none could have beaten Ali in his prime., By the time ali was suspended, he was imo the best fighter ever.

  • @mdmcdd1117 There is no such thing as a fighter who can not be beaten. There is no "best ever" who beats all others. Styles make fights. Look at Tyson from 85-90. Nobody, and I mean nobody, dominated the division the way Tyson did then. He just raked guys. Tyson of 87 EASILY beats Ali of 66. If you think Joe Frazier had a good left hook, rewatch Tysons. Very, very fast. And Tyson had a great right hand (something smoking Joe didn't have). And Tyson could match Ali's hand speed.

  • wow super quality, thank you very much for upload

  • ezzard charles was never allowed to win,& had to make it look good? he was warned by the hoodlums,"take a dive or else"!

  • @chisnb159 Charles did win. He was both a light heavyweight and heavyweight champion. I liked Charles. He was a great boxer. But he was a small heavyweight. As a light heavy, he was a terror.

  • @MADMAC572 he never won the LHW tittle.

  • @MrLukedanger You know I thought he was - but you're right, he beat Maxim, but not for the light heavy championship.

  • @MADMAC572 yeah he also beat archie moore 3 times while he was champ but i think this was after moores comeback in 1951, non the less the fights were not for the LHW title

  • legendary commentary fairplay

  • marciano probably was! a nice guy.but that never stopped the gangsters from whispering bad intentions into the ears of his opponents.grow up pal & try to understand the $ side of boxings match fixing. a prime joe louis would of killed marciano, instead? they send in a broken up old! brown bomber.

  • @chisnb159 Joe needeed that fight as much as marciano as he was in heavy debt to the taxman, marciano didnt even want that fight & went to joe's locker room crying after he knocked him out, you have no clue as to what you are talking about marciano had no involvement with the mafia whatsover, just cause he is an italian american............marciano was trained by goldman one of the finest trainers in history, learn more about the sport before you spew absolute shit out your mouth in future.

  • @shotgunshawzy you seem to know a lot about boxiing. I btw am Italian American and even speak Italian and I am curious to know did Primo Carnera fight for the mafia?I have heard that he did but I just wonder if you know more about it.

  • Marcianno was a really nice and sporting guy, a great champion and a true gentelman who died before his time but he did fight quite dirty and didn't shy away from rabbtt punches, even if Charles was already as good as knocked out, bowing his head down low and on his way down anyway.

  • Marciano was Italiano!!!!!!!!!!!

  • marciano was the most unskilled boxer out there! he was helped by the power of the mob,for the sake of match fixing & gambling, as opponents would have to take a dive.or bite the bullet literally!

  • @chisnb159 BULLSHIT, You don't know nothin'. Only gas blowin' off steam. Rocky was as honest as they came NOT all Italians are mobsters. You racist or somethin' ?

  • I saw a picture of Rocky's nose after the fight and it really was grotesque, Rocky had to knock him out in that round or the fight would have been stopped, true heart of a champion

  • Marciano's record of 49-0 means NOTHING! He fought 15 men who were previously MIDDLEWEIGHTS!!! His record consists of only 12 men who weighed over 200 pounds and they were bums. Marciano had only 6 title defenses. There's no comparing anyone from that era to even today's bums. That includes Joe Louis. Jerry Quarry, Oscar Bonavena, Duane Bobick, Scott LeDoux, All men who never won a title would beat Louis, Marciano, Charles, etc. Don't even get me started on Lyle and Shavers!

  • Nothing?

Its Never been Duplicated! Rocky is the Only HW to ever retire 49-0, Undefeated!

Rocky put people in Comas, some had to have their welts surgically removed.

He punched a 300# bag, no other Fighter did or has done that.

Joe Louis, on a 3 fight streak, had the black knocked off him & was KO'd.

Archie Moore, Charles, Walcott, & Brit Champion All Knocked Out.

90% of His Opponents were KO'd.

Rockey beat mostly larger men in his fights, he was only 185# & never turned down a fight.

  • @StSimonMartyr 49-0 is Marciano's personal record. There's been tons of boxers who were 50-0, 60-0, 79-0. Marciano is not and WILL NEVER be considered a Top 10 heavyweight. He only had 12 fights against men over 200 pounds. Most of his opponents were former middleweights. Sorry, time has passed him by. He's NOT A TOP TEN. Fighters that would beat Marciano: Duran, Leonard, Pacquaio, Hearns, Iran Barkley, Roy Jones, Bernard Hopkins, get my point? Little guys would beat the shit out of Rocky.

  • Not Heavyweights!

And Not Champions! Never undefeated, and never retired undefeated.

Marciano Beat the Reigning Belt Holder and took his belt and defeated it,

He took on Joe Louis at 36. Klitchko today is 40!

Marciano IS considered a Top 10 HW all time great and always will be.

Jews in the game try to dismiss him ad his accomplishments but theyve never been duplicated.

Rocky Was a little guy at 185 and beat the best there way, giving up 35# in many fights to do so.

    U talk out your ass.

  • @StSimonMartyr You're living in the past. Marciano has been declassified as a cruiserweight. He doesn't count in Heavyweight standings anymore. Plus he didn't have enough title defenses. Also he only fought old men in his title defenses. Didn't want to Fight Patterson so he retired. Plus he's the only Heavyweight Champ to get knocked down by an old lightheavyweight (Archie Moore) He's considered too slow, too short, too light, and not enough valid competition to be even considered among top 25.

  • A Cruiserweight that beat every HW or any other fighter he ever faced and he turned down no fights. Never, not one.

Joe Louis also fought a middleweight named Billy Conn who was winning the fight until the 14 th round.

Rockys record and retiring undeafeated hasnt been bested in half a century & likely will not be.

Jews dont like to discuss him as he was a great white fighter, as is Klitchko, but no one hit as hard or was as feared.

Moore knocked him down, but he went on to KO Moore

  • @StSimonMartyr Look man, Nobody gives a shit about Rocky Marciano. That was a long time ago, when humans were evolving. 6 title defenses against bums, then retired. His record means ZERO! That's HIS personal Record, so what. Little White guy, beat some nobodies. Nobody cares. The Blacks don't care they have Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Liston, Lewis, Norton, Holmes, Tyson, Bowe, Holyfield, Patterson, etc. Marciano would not beat any of them in their primes or otherwise. Your argument is dead. bye bye.

  • Patterson wasn't even a top ten ranked heavyweight contender on the date Marciano retired, so no, I don't think Marciano "ducked" him by retiring.

Patterson also had a weak chin and Rocky wouldve KO'd him like all the others.

Ali and Tyson have nothing bet respect for Rocky, thats worth more to me than from idiots like you.

  • @StSimonMartyr Fuck you, you perverted prick. I think you have a Gay Crush on Marciano. He's dead moron, go jerk off to a Rin-Tin-Tin film.

  • Typical Jew response...filthy, gutter talk ripe with Freudian Homosexual innuendo.

  • @StSimonMartyr Fuck you, you Catholic bastard. What's wrong your Priest is busy, so you look forward to some action with Rocky? He's dead you fuckin' Wop. Not only that, NOBODY gives a shit about him!

  • How Extensive is the Problem of Clergy Sex Abuse in the Jewish Community?

Wayward Clergy: Is it Rampant or an Aberration?

Eugene L. Meyer & Richard Greenberg

NY(JTA)-Some experts estimate that "between 18 and 39% of Jewish clergy are involved in Sexual harassment, sexual Exploitation and/or sexual Misconduct -the Same Percentage as Non-Jewish clergy," according to the 2002 book "Sex, Lies, and Rabbis: Breaking a Sacred Trust" written by psychotherapist Charlotte Rolnick Schwab.'

  • @StSimonMartyr You know what you piece of garbage. I tried to be civil with you at first, but it's impossible considering your ethnic background. You greasy hair, pointy shoe wearing bastard, you're going straight to Hell! Your kind isn't even good for anything but bootlegging, gambling, racketeering and smoking a pack of camels on a street corner, you salami smelling dickhead!

  • Jews know garbage for sure.

They peddle in it: Pornography, Organ Trafficking, White Slavery, Ecstasy, Arms Trafficking, Diamonds, War, Apartheid and Usury.

Youve been thrown out of every decent nation in the world, 109 nations- for your behavior & are hated the world over.

Italians meanwhile are loved for their contributions: Davinci, Galileo-Astronomy, The Telephone, Combustion Engine, Piano, Espresso, Barometer, Typewriter, Electric Battery, Great food & works of Rome & so much more..

  • @StSimonMartyr The first patent for a typewriter was taken out by a British inventor. Britons file over fifty percent of the world's patents. The telephone was not invented by an Italian. You are confusing the telephone with the radio which was invented by the Italian Marconi who came to Britain to try out his marvellous invetion. I love Italian culture and Italy is one of the greatest countries in the world but get your facts right and then reclaim your country from the pigs of the EUSSR.

  • @Maxshard An Italian invented the telephone. Antonio Meucci. You are absolutely wrong.

  • @draziom902 Meucci was just one of a number of men who experimented in this field but I'm quite sure you realise that Alexander Graham Bell obtained the first patent and is therefore credited as being the godfather of the telephone. If Meucci had finished his experimentations, I'm sure he would have filed for a a patent but he did not.

  • @Maxshard justice had finally been served 113 years after Meucci's death. Bell is an impostor, profiteer and a "cunning Scotsman" who usurped Meucci's spot in history, while Meucci died poor and unrecognized. In the past number of years, historical records and scholarly research have concluded that Meucci was the original inventor of the telephone, long before Bell. Because of Meucci's role, he should receive recognition for his contribution.

  • @Maxshard Italy hailed the redress of a historic injustice yesterday after the US Congress recognised an impoverished Florentine immigrant as the inventor of the telephone rather than Alexander Graham Bell. Historians and Italian-Americans won their battle to persuade Washington to recognise a little-known mechanical genius, Antonio Meucci, as a father of modern communications, 113 years after his death.

  • @Maxshard The vote by the House of Representatives prompted joyous claims in Meucci's homeland that finally Bell had been outed as a perfidious Scot who found fortune and fame by stealing another man's work.Calling the Italian's career extraordinary and tragic, the resolution said his "teletrofono", demonstrated in New York in 1860, made him the inventor of the telephone in the place of Bell, who had access to Meucci's materials and who took out a patent 16 years later.

  • @draziom902 I assume you mean the Italian House of Representatives. Who was in charge at the time, Mussolini, at a time of great Italian national passion?

  • @StSimonMartyr AMEN

  • @bangitslo Listen Jew, we Italians run circles around you and turn you into suckers.

  • Critics of Marciano say he would be too small to fight the big men of today. What they are not understanding is that Rocky had the frame to add weight if he wanted to. Just like Holyfield built himself up so too could Rocky. Rocky fought at the weight he did because that's all he needed to weigh. With todays understanding of nutrition and exercise he could easily pack on 30lbs. of muscle and weigh 220lbs.

  • @Whammer79 Marciano was knocked down by old men, middleweights, bums and also-rans. He cut easy and staggered easy. I like Rocky, my Dad knew him and was friends with him. Rocky thought Sonny Liston was the best Champ he ever saw. That being said, Rocky was great for his time, but Roy Jones would beat him so would John Ruiz. Fighting Styles evolve and Rocky just wouldn't beat today's fighters or the fighters of the 70's and 80's. Then again neither would Louis, Walcott or Charles.

  • @bangitslo

Hmmm, he was knockedowned TWICE in his career, I guess you can't count.

  • @bangitslo

I think you're confusing Marciano with Rocky GRAZIANO- it's a common mistake.

  • @Whammer79 No, I'm talking about the Brockton Blockbuster. He fought a man named Roland LaStarza that many felt gave him his toughest fight. LaStarza lost to my Dad's sparring partner Rocky Jones. LaStarza was the one that got the title shot.

  • @bangitslo its your opinion mate at the end of the day, stop banding it round like fact

  • @bangitslo John Ruiz?! You had no credibility to begin with, but now you've established yourself as a total imbecile!

  • Those fists were hammers.

  • You can see in this fight how much better Marciano is than just a few fights ago against Walcott.

All the idiots that talk about weight forget that Marciano was small even for his time, and beat guys a lot bigger. Size isn't all good, it's bad because bigger guys are generally slower, and particularly have worse stamina.

A guy with tremendous stamina and one-punch knockout power are extremely rare. Tyson and Foreman didn't have either.

  • IT IS A LIST OF MEN WHO WOULD BEAT MARCIANO. MUHAMMAD ALI 64-67 BY TKO BY CUTS MUHAMMAD ALI 74-75 BY UD JOE FRAZIER 70-71 BY SD GEORGE FOREMAN BY TKO IN 2-3 ROUNDS SONNY LISTON BY TKO IN 5 ROUNDS A PRIME TYSON BY EARLY TKO VITALI KLTSCHKO BY UD A PRIME JOE LOUIS BY TKO IN 6 ROUNDS RIDDICK BOWE BY UD. JACK DEMPSEY BY UD. JACK JONHSON BY UD. ROCKY PROBABLY WOULD BEAT HOLYFIELD,LEWIS,CORBETT,TUNNEY, WLADIMIR AND HOLMES(STYLES).
  • Under Charles' skin was a thin boned wirey skeleton; under Marciano's skin were bones as thick and heavy as steel pipes. That was Marciano's secret. Now you understand the trade secret of punching power.

  • @MsPsycho29 YES, IT IS TRUE, MARCIANO HAD A HEAVY STRUCTURE OF BONES, BUT STILL HE WAS TOO SMALL, HE WEIGHED 178-187 POUNDS

  • @combatesdeboxeo If you mean too small for today's heavyweights I would agree with you. Today he would be a cruiser at best. But if you mean he was too small for his time, I disagree with you because he went 49-0!

  • @MsPsycho29 yes of course he was not too small for his era, because in his era the hws were cruisers really.

but according to his style he was too small to beat guys like foreman,liston,ali,frazier,bowe,vitali,dempsey,tyson,jonhson.... today rocky would be too small even to fight in the cruiser. the cruisers today weighs around 200 pounds, and marciano weighed 178-187. he was more a big lhw than a cruiser. and he would not have the record 49-0 in other era. principally in the 60s and 70s.

  • @combatesdeboxeo please stay off here because you don't know what you're talking about. That's all you are stating is nonsense you've read from some yuppie news paper writer. Marciano never fought at 178. All of the real boxing experts rank him in the top five heavy weights of all time. all of the fighters you admire so greatly are built up on steroids and weight training. They're like football players with gloves. dempsey never saw the day he could marciano and he was smaller than him too.

  • @hmldjr marciano never fought at 178? you are an absolute an complete ignorant. you know absolutely nothing about boxing, it is a fact. and i will not spend my time answering your absurd comment....

  • this video is like art

  • Great video and no dumb music in the background like a lot of these other videos!

  • he got so heated up in round 8 because the referee was considering stopping the fight, giving him a TKO, that was, well too much for the The Brockton Blockbuster, and he ended the fight in the 8th round.

  • That's beautiful...

  • No, Marciano did not have any finesse. What he did have was heart, determination and power.

  • @furtherdefinitions and an unrivaled chin!

  • why the fuck does every one always argue over a fucking video on youtube you fucking fuck tards. every single fucking video i watch theres always ppl arguing whats all that about man ?

  • marciano vs ali really could go either way alis hand speed and agility would definitely mess him up but rockys punching power could knock out anyone

  • marciano was a beast

  • I love the Suzie Q!!!

  • jffrantz - You're entitled to your opinion although I don't agree with it. If size is the all important factor than guys like Primo Canera would always beat the Max Bears and we know that didn't happen. Marciano was the same height as Tyson and maybe even hit harder. Anyway. Tyson knocked out alot of bigger and taller boxers. Guys like Christ Biyd beat the Jimmy Thunders and levi Bullups. I have a Japaneese fighting dog (Tosa Ken) that can shred a pit bull. Size doesn't always win.

  • I know times have moved on and boxers with it but, these guys were so special.

a special time and a special breed!

  • Rocky could throw some pretty good combos, check 1:57 out. He fucked charles up with a left jab, hook & powerful right hand all in one sequence.

  • Thanks for posting. they would not let a fight go on today with that kind of injury. it would be stopped no doubt and it should. Rocky had heart like no other. Arthur Abraham is a modern day rocky. most people like to say manny pacq and floyd this or that. but would floyd go on with an injury like this. we have yet to see. Thats why Rocky will always be in the Top 10 of all time great boxers and to 5 of all time heavyweights. He earned it.

  • In this second fight Marciano had his nose split open down to the BONE..and yet,The Rock stormed back and kept the crown...he had a ton of heart!!!

  • I don't know why people like to say Marciano is so slow. His right hand is anything but slow, and the fact he's able to hit skilled guys like Walcott, Moore and Charles is proof.

  • @TA152H01 Where would rate Rocky on my all-time list... NO. 1! I'm not saying this 'cause I'm a big fan of his... I'm a bigger fan of Floyd Mayweather jr but I do believe honestly that Rocky was the greatest! Look at his record and compare it to any other fighter with a 49 fight record and Rocky wins hands down! He is STILL the greatest!

  • Marciano said it was the toughest guy he fought

  • Jab and move Ezzard! Stay on the outside! Why did you fight Rock's fight?

  • And do you think for a minute that Marciano could have hit Ali with those loopy rights? Dream on.

  • ali would fuck up marciano!!!!

  • Ali would've OWNED Marciano - during Ali's prime - or after Ali had a few fights after his 3+ year layoff due to the draft situation. Marciano would've been target practice for Ali, who would've had fun torturing "The Rock."

  • @comedicstuff You idiot! Ali would've owned Marciano... Ali himself said if he fought Marciano it would a 50/50 fight. So go suck someone's dick 'cause your argument has as much sense as an orangutan with its ass on fire. BIATCH!

  • @NazhitsREALLYHARD - Hey dumbass, you have to realize WHY Ali would say that. He was trying to help SELL the legitimacy of a MYTHICAL Ali-Marciano "dream match!" You know Ali always down-talked possible opponents, including a prime Joe Louis. So why would Ali say Marciano "could possibly" beat him - other than trying to sell the dream match? A prime Louis was taller and hit just as hard (probably harder) as Marciano.

  • @NazhitsREALLYHARD - I just showed you how much sense it makes, so get back down on your scabby knees and stick to what you do BEST! Eating ass and sucking dick! You bitch ass loser!!! OWNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ha...Ali was 220 pounds at his peak. Marciano was what, 190? There is no way that he could have hurt Ali. If Big George Foreman couldn't at 225 pounds, Marciano couldn't. End of discussion. Ali would have boxed his nose off, eventually cutting him up and stopping him in 10 or so rounds.

  • @swr112261 Hey look I'm a great fan of Ali, to me his "The Greatest". He proved that he was a recipient of that claim hands down. In a 12 round bout with Marciano I would pick Ali to win... I think Ali would be too quick for the first 6-7 rounds and then Marciano would come on strong as he would get Ali on the ropes and land at the body. The shortened distance means that Marciano won't be able to get the KO and Ali would win by points.

  • What you have to remember is that Ali outweighed the Rock by some 20 pounds. It's hard for me to believe that he could have hurt Ali more than Frazier or Foreman. Also, we never really saw Ali in his prime, between the ages of 26 and 29.

  • @swr112261 Yeah and Louis, Charles, Walcott all weighed 20 pounds heavier... in fact every opponent including Archie Moore (a light-heavyweight) weighed more than Marciano. Hey look lets not get just be selective about Ali... Ali himself said in 1976 that when he and Rocky sparred for their computer fight his arms were sore... much more sore than Frazier's blows. Lets not forget Marciano had been retired for over a decade then!

  • @NazhitsREALLYHARD You're data is incorrect. He outweighed Charles in their first fight, and Charles outweighed him by five pounds the second. Walcott weighed 12 pounds heavier their first fight. Moore weighed 1/4 pound less, although Bert Sugar doesn't seem to know this.

But, he still hit like a mule kicks. Weight is misleading. Marciano put a larger fraction of his 188 pounds in it than the 230 oxen do that fight now.

  • @TA152H01 Thanks for the correction though I still can't find a reason to argue Rocky being the greatest heavyweight... if you piece together the facts and discard the myths then you get the a clearer picture. Jersey Joe Walcott and Ezzard Charles both gave Joe Louis HELL... Rocky found an answer to their styles and beat them convincingly... not to mention pummeling Louis into submission.

  • @TA152H01 Even Ali said, after he sparred with Rocky for their computer fight, that Rocky hit him soo hard he felt really sore for weeks on end. Lets not forget by that time Rocky had been retired for over 10 YEARS!!! In 1963 Sports illustrated wrote an article testing out Rocky's power... in the end the article conjures Rocky's punch being that of an armor piercing bullet and able to lift A TON of the ground! WOW!

  • @TA152H01 And finally there came the chuckle by certain sections of boxing fans and critics about Rocky's make-up as a fighter... they said he was too small - only 5ft 10... they said he had small arms... 68 inch reach... they said he was technically flawed - his feet came off the ground when he threw punches and his arms were never above chest height. But in the end Rocky dumbfounded them all and ppl just can't acknowledge his greatness!

  • @NazhitsREALLYHARD I like pure boxers, so I'm naturally partial against Marciano, but, it's very, very hard not to like a guy with his stamina and training. Although his power and endurance were both exceptional, a lot of credit should also be given to his strange ability to throw a punch from anywhere, at any time. He could be moving forward chasing a guy, seemingly too far leaned back, or crouched in a way you'd think it impossible, but he can always get off a shot.

  • @TA152H01 Any two schleps can dance like Fred Astaire trading Marshmellow punches through fifteen rounds. But it is the punches that hurt that make you a real boxer! Not to mention being able to take the hurting as well!

  • @swr112261 But in a 15 round bout (like the one with Frazier in the 1971) I think Ali would get beat by Marciano. I think Marciano's body shots would slow him down and by around the 12 round onwards he would be ripe for a KO... if not a KO then he would get knocked down for sure. I think Ali would beat EVERY heavyweight over 12 rounds hands down. Over 15 rounds I'm not so sure. His the greatest!

  • BULLSH*T, hard to believe Ezzard Charles didn't know how to hold after 99 matches, carefully edited B.S. , sorry folks the FIX WAS IN! There ALWAYS looks like there was something WRONG with Marciano FILMED matches, because the fix was in.

  • he still never got beat and never will theres a good arguement for him being the greatest

rockys style was alot better than foremans

    foreman was almost all power

and oscar de la hoyla was once 49-0 as an amatuer so there you go

a young holyfield would ko bernard in 3 rounds at most at light heavy

    u cant argue with 49-0

u can make arguements for the blokes he fought being over the hill LIKE YOU CAN WITH EVERY SINGLE HW BOXER

    VITALI,TYSON,ALI,THE ROCK

ON THE NIGHT ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN

  • 49-0 - 85% WERE OVER THE HILL FIGHTERS.

  • would take tremendous footwork, constant movement and a quick persistent jab to have beaten the Rock......

  • Yeah but for OVER 15 rounds?! Come on! You can't hold of the The Rock for that long which is why he has to go down as the greatest in history.

  • @NazhitsREALLYHARD Depends what kind of boxer you are..a classic boxer,in superb condition with footwork and hand speed, who flourished in the latter round, the Ali,alley.....ha ha ha ha

  • In my humble opinion I think Rocko would KO Ali even in his prime... 'cause if you look carefully at the punches Marcian throws to Charles his balance is BAD still the POWER is bone-breaking. He hit as hard as an armor piercing bullet which is why he was never beaten... plus his chin was steel.

  • @NazhitsREALLYHARD If punching power was what determined a great boxer,Earnie Shavers would have been the greatest fighter ever,he wasnt. The first thing you learn about boxing when you actually do it yourself,is that power is not the most important thing AT ALL.Everyone Ali fought, hit much much harder than him,yet he beat them all.Marciano is flat footed,Ali is ball footed,Marciano swings,Ali jabs and is 10 times faster.Your hands cant hit what your eyes cant see.....

  • I know all about Ali... how fast he was... on record he had the fastest jab clocked in at 0.27 of a second... Sugar Ray Robinson (a welterweight) clocked in at 0.32 of a second. Hey look I know what you know and MORE... but believe me Marciano hit harder than ANYBODY... in a 1963 Boxing illustrated article it was concurred that Marciano's power was equivalent to a armor piercing bullet or in literal terms "able to stop lift 1000 pounds in the air".

  • Yes you are right... power isn't everything... in fact its the opposite... technique takes precedence... but with Marciano... the quality of his opposition and how he destroyed them gives me no choice but to say he was the greatest pound-for-pound. People say Louis was old, so was Charles and Walcott... but they don't realise that Louis was on 8 fight knockout streak... Walcott actually peaked when he fought Marciano and Charles beat Louis and twice beat Walcott.

  • Hey I watch Ali fights nearly everyday... one of all-time favs but there's alwas one thing that bugged me about him... he couldn't take out Joe Frazier... but more than that he had stamina problems against him. Up until Ali's first fight with Frazier, Ali had only gone 15 rounds once and that was with George Chuvalo... now Marciano hadn't been in a 15 round bout 'til his 42 fight... but in the end Rocky in my view has the better stamina, chin, durability... AND POWER.

  • @NazhitsREALLYHARD Muhammed Ali NEVER had "stamina problems" ask George Foreman LOL..the last 5 rounds of the fight were known as the Ali Alley...

Power is nothing when it meets that much speed. What are you going to hit??No heavyweight has ever moved that fast!!

Technically Ali is a far far superior fighter to Marciano. His footwork alone was unreachable,He floats on the balls of the foot.Marciano throws punches like he's swimming, roundhouse.Ali throws in a straight line and is 5 times faster!!!

  • I do take my hat off to Ali for what he did to Foreman but it was tactics that won him the fight... he knew the only way to win was to exhaust the harder puncher but George's problem was that he threw recklessly without abandon... had he kept his composure he would'nt have tired out.

  • But for me the fight that sums up Ali is the first Frazier fight... thats my all-time fav fight along with Marciano v Walcott. Ali threw LOADS of punches but Frazier was undeterred... and the power he still had at the end to knockdow Ali leaves me no choice but to say that Marciano would KO Ali in the latter rounds of a 15 round fight, in a 12 round bout I'd favour Ali.

  • Ali is the greatest but there are fighters who would've beaten him... like Louis and Marciano. Ali was unbeatable... his chin wasn't as good as Rocky's... neither his durability. Marciano would mercilessly hunt him down over 15 rounds ... over 12 rounds Ali would win on points.

  • Sorry... I mean't to say "Ali isn't unbeatable"

  • @NazhitsREALLYHARD Well,no one is unbeatable, especially heavyweights.anyone can catch one and go down,if they dont take it seriously or are not in top condition. But technically He is the best boxer God ever made....

  • Technically Sugar Ray Robinson is the best... even Ali admitted that. Look at Robinson's record and he only lost 1 of his first 132 fights (78 knockouts) that loss being to Jake La Motta (no pushover)... Robinson avenged that loss 3 WEEKS LATER... imagine Ali trying to beat Frazier three weeks after his first loss to him... sorry but can't see it happen.

  • Currently Ali is 3rd on my pound-for-pound list... behind Sugar Ray and Marciano. Though thats my opinion... anyone can say the contrary.

  • @NazhitsREALLYHARD Ali had much better footwork than Ray,and was more controlled. For a heavyweight to move like that is quite remarkable.Marciano was not scientific at all,he was just very tough.Effective yes,but no one would call him a great boxer technically, according to the fundamental principles of boxing.Ali stood in a room at the age of 22,in Front of marciano, joe louis,Sugar ray and willie pep and said "i am the greatest" and none of em argued with him!!!

  • Well there's no need to argue with him... if he calls himself the greatest then his entitled to it... but Marciano, Louis achieved more... Robinson was a better fighter... so says Bert Sugar, Ray Leonard, Archie Moore, Ali, Louis etc. Everyone accepts Ray Robinson as the greatest pound for pound... EVEN ALI... so get over it. Marciano would eat Ali up and spit him out in 15 rounds. Your pragmatic view is so silly.

  • @NazhitsREALLYHARD Ali is not just the most remarkable boxer,he's also the most remarkable person ever to box,no doubt. The interest and money in boxing today is directly because of him.Marciano is tough, relentless yes,but not scientific.Hitting power means nothing, when it meets that much speed.any sniper will tell you,a moving target is hard to hit.Yes marciano will destroy you if you stand in front of him. This guy literally floats, with constantly moving upper body plus the fastest hands ever..

  • Yeah a remarkable person... called himself a prophet, God and good knows what other heresies... hey the guy was great but not no. 1. Now lets leave this argument

  • @NazhitsREALLYHARD why is it a heresy to call yourself a prophet!!did he not perfectly and accurately predict many things about his career!!

  • @NazhitsREALLYHARD Remember ,Ali spent his whole career before hard hitting monsters!!Everyone though Liston would "eat him up",then undefeated 25yr old George Foreman, was gonna "eat him up"!!even Earnie Shavers,THE hardest hitting boxer EVER could not topple him!!remember that.He specialized in power hitting monsters!!your hands can't hit what your eyes cant see.....

  • Shavers didn't hit as hard as Marciano... Marciano hit as hard as an armor piercing bullet and was very accurate with his Suzie-Q. Hey look Ali was the greatest but Marciano for me would KO him.

  • @NazhitsREALLYHARD No human being in boxing history has ever hit as hard as Earnie Shavers,NONE!!!!thats actually official..

  • No! Go to wikipedia and type in the hardest puncher and your answer will be Rocky Marciano. This debate is over. I won't say this again.

  • @NazhitsREALLYHARD Wikipedia dont know shit.Every person Ernie Shaver EVER hit, stated categorically, this was the hardest they'd ever been hit,EVERYONE!!Not so for Marciano.Shavers was the origional choice for Rocky3 ,he hit Stallone once, and nearly killed him right there..LOL.He could bring down walls!!Nobody, hit as hard as Shavers,NONE!!!!

  • You still here... moaning like you've been deprived of your statutory rights... well this ain't no walkers crisp packet and Earnie Shavers didn't hit as hard as Rocky Marciano. Even Ali said to Howard Cosell that if any heavyweight could beat him it would be Rocky Marciano. Now get lost before I block you

  • @NazhitsREALLYHARD I watched that show, wide world of sports 1976,and NO thats not what he said. This is hypothetical and therefore can only be based on styles,Your arguement is that marciano would win cos he was a hard hitter,.If that was the case, sonny Liston,George foreman etc would all have,so clearly hitting power means nothing when it meets that much speed movement ,brain and skill.Basically it would be brawn vs speed and brain....Ali's entire career tells you the outcome of that!!!Goodbye

  • @NazhitsREALLYHARD - George Foreman, Mike Tyson, Riddick Bowe, Lennox Lewis, Razor Ruddock and David Tua all hit harder than Rocky Marciano also. Not just Earnie Shavers. Joe Frazier in his prime hit at least equally as hard. And a prime Joe Louis obviously hit harder than Marciano. Marciano usually took an accumlation of punches during the course of a fight to get you out in the 8th round if you were any good.

  • @NazhitsREALLYHARD Your hands cant hit what your eyes cant see,he spent his whole life in front of hard hitting monsters, from beginning to end!!!!No one ever KOd him!!infact his style and brain was perfect for those guys.Foreman was 10yrs younger, had KO 40 guys straight, hit like a cannon, destroyed Frazier, was gonna Kill Ali??Liston couldn't even lay a glove on him. many a tough guy was simply confounded by him.Even when he was sick, prime young champs Berbick and Holmes STILL couldn't drop him!!

  • The one thing that makes Rocky stand out from all fighters is his humble attitude. He always praised everyone above himself... Ali once said---> "When I was 14 years old and listening to the radio and I heard the announcer, 'and still champion of the whole world, Rocky Marciano.' I knew I wanted to be champion someday. He was a big influence in the start of my career."

  • @NazhitsREALLYHARD Hitting power,is effective against a conventional fighter,ie one who stands flat footed before you and trades.THAT IS NOT ALI!!! Thats why tough guys could never beat him,He's a dancer, hitting power, becomes nothing against him, nothing!!!In fact,he will even use it against you,ask George Foreman. You keep talking about Marciano Hitting power, whats he gonna hit??

  • Aiyyo everybody... can you see hoe STUPID this guy looks... his talking about Ali being the greatest of all-time when Ali himself said Sugar Ray Robinson was the greatest... also Ali got beat by Frazier... Frazier lacked height, speed, reach and weight and still beat him. This guy is a twat. Teri MOni PUDI! Blocked

  • Hope you understood that and not be pragmatic... in either case lets shake hands and be on our a way. PEACE

  • Funny how people compare Marciano to other boxers with fancy footwork and say that Marciano was clumsy and not technically skilled. But what they don't realize is that while other fighters could "dance", Marciano danced with his hole body! He had a slick deceptive style that was nearly unbeatable but not always appreciated. And that is why he is underrated.

  • Yup very mechanically sound without showboating like jones jr

  • @MORCOPOLO0817 Astute observation! thanks

  • @MORCOPOLO0817

He also had an uncanny ability to churn up power by twisting his body. As you said though, his body was quite fluid, which I think contributed both to the often awkward angles of his punches (for opponents to dodge) as well as a shock absorption system against blows.

  • What can you say about the guy- outweighed and outreached but never outgunned....his firepower was always too much for the opposition. What a heart Rocky had...especially the Walcott fight who would have thought he could pull that rabbit out of the hat? Nobody but Rocky! 49-0 the record speaks for itself - the best ever

  • well said the rock was the man

  • Marciano was truly a tough man but as a boxing quite amatuerish. The only people that think he was the greatest heavyweight of all time are racists desperate for a 'white hope'.
