No actually. The min pin existed a few hundred years before the Doberman. They have the same colors, but thats where the commonality ends. They are totally unrelated breeds.

Both share the same 'ancestor' the German Pinscher. So, yes, there is a connection. However, both breeds have developed over decades. They are now two distinguished breeds.

That's why I love dogs! Oh, and I agree with Jabbamany regarding the choke chain. A black lab was choked to death when playing with another dog a couple years back. The choke chain got stuck in the other dogs mouth and he was desperately trying to get away and at the same time the black lab was getting choked to death : ( so sad, the owner was just in the house and didn't realize. I've never forgotten that story.

They are cure together, I noticed you have a choke chain on your dobe, take it from someone who knows, it is a tragedy waiting to happen, never leave those things on the neck, the loop can get caught on anything and the dog will choke, you do not want to come home and find your friend that way, believe me you don't.
