NASA have confirmed a unusual big solar activity for the year 2012. I think that it will be the year when it errupts. hope not :-s poor americans will die or maybe even more.
Das Problem ist nur möglich, dass diese Schwarmbeben relativ selten sind. 2008/2009 und 2010. In ausreichendem Maße auf den Yellowstone in der Nähe hat einen starken Druck an sich ..
Yellowstone has been having almost non-stop quakes for over a week now and you know that's not normal. For of these quake rattled the park pretty good and the park got to more heavy rumblers just hours ago.
The earthquake swarms have started again, just a few days ago on January 10, 2010. I, too, believe this supervolcao is getting ready to erupt, and I believe the USGS knows it, too, but is reluctant to cause panic by asking for an evacuation. Nobody can say for sure when it will occur, but it WILL happen within the next 5 years.

This is now the most continuous and largest swarm of Earth quakes for Yellowstone ever recorded at over 1,100 quakes in just 8 days with at least 4 of the quakes rattling the Yellowstone park pretty good.

Hate to break it to you, but 500 million years ago was just prior to the end of the Cambrian, when life on earth was flourishing and evolving into what we know today. The dinosaurs died 65 million years ago and the last Yellowstone eruption occurred between 640-614,000 years ago. Just sayin.
hello , this video used to be a video responce to a video put on by someone who had been to yellowstone, it was allways the first video to come up when you typed in yellowstone nationalpark, and the cover image was a long horned mountain sheep, i cannot find this video anymore and miss it as i greatly enjoyed the music on it, it was verry uplifting, can anyone tell me who that video was posted by or what the song was, any info much appreciated
if yellowstone blows bigtime then no place on the planet will be safe. supervolcanoes like Koba 70,000 yrs ago wiped out almost all humans but a few in Africa. The severe volcanic winter alone lasted 6 years. Anyone that tries to stir that volcanic pot should be considered the worst enemy of the planet, its plants and animals, and all of mankind, and be dealt with accordingly.
I've been following this story off and on for several years now. It's disappointing to see the lack of Government & Media coverage on the dangers of this Super Volcano - only a few documentaries here and there. I was going to move to this area, but seriously, I personally consider the threat so serious that it has deterred me from doing so...
i thought that if yellowstone errupted, it would cover the entire skies world wide in ash for years?
Maybe not, its been awhile since ive looked into it. but from what i can remember, it wouldnt matter where you lived. If yellowstone errupts, we are all f*cked.
not it actually does if you live in the U.S theres a high (bassicly theres no way out) of dieing. if you live any wwhere else in the world you will be mine with a couple ashes hitting the floor(not alot) , also you can still survie actually as i looked up if you live in the U.S.A you have to live on the east coast, lava will come there and thats it. lucky me i live in new york city ^^.
actually with MORE research there 3 ways it could happen (it wont though for A THOSAND YEARS) ,1. it s small and destrosy the yellowstone area , it sorta big and destroys everything in its witdht or it will destory the U.S.A if the worse happens but we wont be around by then,
why did you captilize "thousand years"? you know when it is going to errupt? Scientist have said it errupts roughly every 600,000 years and the last time it errupted was over 630,000 years. Dont act like you know when it will errupt. for all you know, it could errupt tomorrow.
scientist dont still exactly know what there si to the fing tvolcano and neither do i -_- they can think it, bt they have no proof it exploded 600,000 years ago, it couldve exploded 1,00 years ago witha small explosion.
Whatever happens happens..I plan on checkin' out Yellowstone's badassery here in the summer, and i'm gonna live it up like nobody's business while I take the scenic route..We're only here to visit, not to stay, regardless of what people may think of a frickin' Volcano Apocolypse.. Don't be a bunch of Debby Downers..
listen people, dont listen to the crackpots who say that this dormant volcano is gonna blow. it wont, period, full stop. if it were to blow, it would have blew by now.
look I live in west yellowstone...ppl that spread panic really hurt this little town because ppl are afraid to come here, look if yellowstone goes off we might not have fair warning but it will affect the world for years and years to come....I love where I live and think everyone should come and see yellowstone..but this is what I say, at least were I live I will have front row seats..I rather have a shot, smoke a joint and watch it happen then suffer for the many years of pain that would follow
yeah I love Yellowstone and I live not to far away from it and some people are scared to death to come out in the west because of it but I really don't care if it's there because I love it there!!! and every one needs to see it!
re read mine tollap it says Before you do !!It comes from experience, almost every time I disagree with someone whos under 30 it inevitably starts with namecalling. You all seem to think you know everything, why don't you give me ONE reference that states toba is bigger than yellowstone.Or explain why every volcanologist i've seen or read states yellowstone is the biggest on earth.??Are you a volcanologist???
In that case, I apologise for mistaking the context of what you said. To me it sounded like you were saying I called you an idiot in my first post, but I can see how it could be taken both ways.
I think our difference in views is because I'm talking about 'ever' and you are talking about 'active'. Yellowstone is the largest active supervolcano that we know of. However in the past, there have been larger supervolcanoes ('The size and frequency of the largest explosive eruptions on earth', Mason et al. Bulletin of volcanology 2004.
I am a geology masters student, but I am specialising in volcanology. At the moment I am working on rocks from the very youngest Yellowstone lavas.
Just do a google search on Yellowstone and you will see that there have been over 1000 earthquakes in a little over a months time. That is significantly more than five per day. This is not to say that there is an eruption coming, but this activity is not the norm.
err check your facts toba is big but its not as big as yellowstone.yellowstone ended the world 640,000 yrs ago.Check it out before you respond calling me an idiot.Yellowstone is due and when it goes the north is done.toba is about 100 kilometers yellowstone is close to 300 kilometers when this bitch goes wer'e fucked.
Firstly, re-read my post. I did not call you an idiot!
Secondly, the amount of material erupted by Toba was greater than the largest Yellowstone eruption. This means the active magma chamber was bigger, and consequently the volcano was bigger. I have no idea what '300 kilometers' refers to, but if it's caldera size then that has nothing to do with the size of the volcano. Supervolcano sizes are based on amount of eruptable/erupted magma, not caldera size...
First or all, It is Jan 09, The park is covered in a blanket of snow and ice, so when was this vid taped? The park has been active for all recorded history and it's future is just a guess, nothing more.
as i said b4, hes just trying to develp a career on tv as a narrator, but really he is a chancer, reading an autocue, hes probably a republican that voted in bush twice....
one thing that evrybody don't realise is that chris shot this BEFORE DEC 27th , so he already knew something was going on with yellowstone, and now, TODAY, we have volcanoes erupting as we speak, this eve Mt asama erupted, ect ect, t's going to be some bad times in the real near future, take care
54 square miles, the largest one on the planet, it blows, it could wipe out 60-90% of life on this planet, also one just erupted in japan this eve (Mt Asama) also 2 in russia are in orange alert, plus yellowstone
for those ignorant people saying shit like this is fake! what? it cant happen? are you retarded? did you even do research? i think its funny how people make assumption based off no knowledge at all what so ever! seeing is believing right? haha by then itll be too late you fucking idiots! im not telling you to believe it 100%. im telling you to put it in consideration.
On behalf of all innocent lives that you murdered directly or indirectly (in Vietnam, Iraq, Japan, Palestine, for helping the terrible Israeli government)
Please don't lump us all into one group. If I was not even born until the late 80's how can you hold people like me respoinsible for the A-bomb, Vietnam, Korean wars, and what's going on in Palestine? You can thank poor leadership for all of those things. I dont agree with ANY of the wars my country's involved with right now, so how is it that me and millions of others like me deserve to die because of the actions of a few people? It's not even like I voted for them. I look forward to a response
should, could, would, until it does happen I don't care, ranks up till with 2012 samething, all I hear is what might happen, not what will happen, more like ifs and buts, and you know what they say about those things. lol "hints we all would have a merry christmas"
if this thing goes off, go and play the song from legend of zelda majora's mask, called final hours.. look it up, good song for if ur about to die in a way like this
look I live in west yellowstone...ppl that spread panic really hurt this little town because ppl are afraid to come here, look if yellowstone goes off we might not have fair warning but it will affect the world for years and years to come....I love where I live and think everyone should come and see yellowstone..but this is what I say, at least were I live I will have front row seats..I rather have a shot, smoke a joint and watch it happen then suffer for the many years of pain that would follow
same here mate, enjoy life and what'll be will be! The beauty of Yellowstone Natl. Park should be enjoyed by all and if we die in the eruption, well, thats all!
You are so lucky to live next to Yellowstone. I visted 8 years ago, and could only stay for 3 days. Seeing the pictures again reminded me of the wonderful time I had. It s stunning. I hope to come back one day and stay for a longer time.
btw- no one who has had any geological experience would EVER say "a hotspot- caused by volcanic lava underneath the surface". If molten rock is under the surface it is MAGMA.
it can blow at any day or at anytime...its dangerous it can kill the whole planet if it blows...i mean YellowStone caldera,if it blows it will be a huge catastrophy
When Yellowstone Erupts! I am sure somebody will be selling front row tickets to cash in on it. Yeah, Ticketmaster? Do you have any seats that are airconditioned?
nice vid, but this guy sounds extremely dull.. if he didn't know so much about it, i'd say he wasn't even interested. (judging by the sound of his voice)
The activity hes referring to is normal geologic activity for Yellowstone. The 1985 Earthquake Cluster lasted 3 Months with a total of 3000 recorded quakes. This one has had 500 from the end of Dec. - Jan., and on Jan 5th another 10 were recorded.
2009/01/17 3.4 81 km ( 50 mi) WSW of Cantwell, AK 4.7 318 km (198 mi) WSW of Adak, AK 4.5 316 km (196 mi) W of Adak, AK 4.7 78 km ( 48 mi) ESE of Lake Minchumina, AK 4.0 22 km ( 14 mi) SSW of Leilani Estates, HI 5.0 316 km (196 mi) WSW of Adak, AK 3.3 195 km (121 mi) WSW of Adak, AK 4.6 313 km (194 mi) WSW of Adak, AK 3.4 51 km ( 32 mi) S of Sand Point, AK 3.2 10 km ( 6 mi) WSW of Denali National Park, AK 3.3 80 km ( 50 mi) NW of Settlement, Virgin Islands 4.1 57 k
Somebody throw an expired 7 11 burrito in that Yellowstone Volcano and make it erupt like a trucker who spent 7 hours driving through the desert. Better yet, play some rap nearby. That outta make it blow chunks.
How does this affect those, who live in the eastern & southern regions? Places like/Virginia/Kentucky/Newjersy/Maryland,what kind of damage could we expect,to get?
heavy ash. but the ash isnt just like normal ciggaratte ash or backyard barbeque ash. it has little rock particles and magnet particles in it. and it has wet cement in it, so if you breathe the ash into your lungs, your lungs will just form into cement. we will go into a ice age because of the ash, sulphur dioxide, blocing the sun making putting us into a ice age.
I'll TELL you what's happening... They're using Project BlueBeam H A A R P in ordert o disrupt the natural order of the "Super Volcano", so it CAN "erupt". It's another part of the Reptilians' plans...
unknownpower, I thought those cowboy boots Bush wears were gator skin, now I see its just his own shedding of skin. Tails on people are a trip. So rare, but shows some funkie gene got in there sometime. So will Paul Rever tell us when "The Reptillians are coming, the Reptillians are Coming"!
listen guys, there is no imminent reaction. however, if you see some "for sale" signs outside houses in the next few days and weeks, be sure to ask why they are selling up and moving on. haha
So. The gov't won't say anything even if they DO know when or if it would happen, do you honestly thing they would tell the general public? Fuck no! They would have wide spread chaos, disorder, panic. That last thing the gov't wants is to lose control.
last saturday they had a earthquake in yellowstone that measured 3.9 on the richter scale, and earthquakes are becoming more common. I live in Breckenridge, CO and i want this guy taken seriously, this could happen and I want to be prepared if this does happen or even if it doent happen, at least we can try to prepare ourselves. What are your suggestions for me living in CO and all the people in wyoming and surrounding states if this occurs. is southern CO a safe place.
kanetrain, my advice to you living in Colorady is to install old VW windshiled washers on your solor panels. That or hope it blows in the summer when winds come from south. Wintertime, and we're screwed. Oh, the Hopis believe the 4 corners area is the only place that will survive. I'd personally rather be as close to fresh water as possible. Wells may be better. hire a contractor to do a heat leakage test on home, seal the gaps so dust won't come in. Use a waterfall device in home for purify/air
I like your assessment that an impact caused the bruising. I've always thought the whole area looks like a big zit from above. Not to sound disrespectful, I mean it IS beautiful.
And those quakes and swellings are SUPER unnerving. Thanks for the info!
You must be talking about the Pleiadians/Plejarens, am I right? Look "Pleiadians" up before you go any further. The ones in control of this planet, right now, are a Reptilian race, of who control all of the governments, etc. Sirians are also a race. Stop using that "A" word, because it's offensive to many, and it was also another word created by the Reptilian race. Do research on Pleiadians and Reptilians
..But I don't think we need to freak the f*ck out just yet because even though earthquake swarms are relatively rare, they don't necessarily mean volcanic activity. This seems a lot more like activity surrounding a hydrothermal explosion. That being said, we still need to be prepared for the worst and those who travel to Yellowstone always need to enter at their own risk as they always have. Yellowstone's volcano is very much alive even if she doesn't erupt in our lifetime.
There's no way to really know when she'll erupt. I don't pay any attention to any of the doomsday crap Nostradamus came up with so I don't think Yellostone will erupt for sure in 2012. I don't believe in God so I don't believe this marks the coming of any invisible super human. Yes, we do need to be prepared for the worst and come up with some kind of evacuation plan since our country does such an awesome job when it comes to natural disaster preparedness. *joke*
Just as Mt St Helens puffed out more steam and the subduction zone off the NW coast rumbled and sputtered bible thumpers flipped their books open certain this was fulfillment of the prophecy that never comes, and the scientists steadied their cameras and watched and waited....
The fact remains when Yellowstone (latest focus) or anything else blows it will be a surprise, and, it will be nature doing what it has always done, and, IT ISN'T ABOUT US.
Scientists have NEVER been able to predict volcano eruptions or even earthquakes so NO one knows what is going to happen. But it surely is worth watching!
The last time it exploded was 640,400 years ago not 500 million. Yes there was preistoric animals all over North America and destroyed all of that. After years of the explosion it pretty much fucked over most of the earth and will happen again at any moment in time when know one will know it.
what about the war we continue to fund while we over look the disaster in Texas as 500,000 Americans lost their homes. We can fund another country to fight a war but we can not print out the money we need to help ourselves out - even though we are paying for the debt. With that printed out money - women and children are being killed. Does that represent US? I question whether or not the Government is there for us at all. For when we loose our homes. No one is here to help us.
its ok, we need to found those wars to keep our fat life style, we cant ask to end those oil wars if what we always ask to our politicians, right? not expensive gas, government benefits, keep eating like pigs and living like kings (compare to the world), so... yes, that represents the US, we know the true but non wants to do anything to change it IF that would mean to make our selves a little bit unconfortable... and... what does this have to do with the supervolcano? ha ha ha!!
Yellowstone, Jan 9 2009,11:17 am local time, a 3.3 magnitude earthquake was recorded. It was recorded on every monitor in the park. Except one. The monitor at Yellowstone Lake LKWY did not register the quake. Why? Also, the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology webicoders LKWY seismogram graph shows a huge gap in readings today. Why? The LKWY has a gaps in the data on Jan 4,5,following the swarm.
Ok so i want to see the one hour vid. That being said i also want to point out the fact that we really dont know what the precursors for a super eruption are. Pressure has been building since the last eruption and we realy have no idea how much the cladera has changed.
It must have been Uranis. That is a super volcano (the difference between circle K and Super Malmart). Why wasn't it UFOs or big foot?

why did you captilize "thousand years"? you know when it is going to errupt? Scientist have said it errupts roughly every 600,000 years and the last time it errupted was over 630,000 years. Dont act like you know when it will errupt. for all you know, it could errupt tomorrow.

scientist dont still exactly know what there si to the fing tvolcano and neither do i -_- they can think it, bt they have no proof it exploded 600,000 years ago, it couldve exploded 1,00 years ago witha small explosion.

re read mine tollap it says Before you do !!It comes from experience, almost every time I disagree with someone whos under 30 it inevitably starts with namecalling. You all seem to think you know everything, why don't you give me ONE reference that states toba is bigger than yellowstone.Or explain why every volcanologist i've seen or read states yellowstone is the biggest on earth.??Are you a volcanologist???
Haplesshiccuper 2 years ago
In that case, I apologise for mistaking the context of what you said. To me it sounded like you were saying I called you an idiot in my first post, but I can see how it could be taken both ways.
99tollap 2 years ago
I think our difference in views is because I'm talking about 'ever' and you are talking about 'active'. Yellowstone is the largest active supervolcano that we know of. However in the past, there have been larger supervolcanoes ('The size and frequency of the largest explosive eruptions on earth', Mason et al. Bulletin of volcanology 2004.
I am a geology masters student, but I am specialising in volcanology. At the moment I am working on rocks from the very youngest Yellowstone lavas.
99tollap 2 years ago
Just do a google search on Yellowstone and you will see that there have been over 1000 earthquakes in a little over a months time. That is significantly more than five per day. This is not to say that there is an eruption coming, but this activity is not the norm.
malbane2006 2 years ago
exactally not a big deal and my towns news paper clearly stated that the earthquakes are NOT the follow-up to the next major eruption!
GEE PEOPLE HONESTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
coldbills 2 years ago
Err, Yellowstone is by no means the largest volcano ever.
La Garita, Toba and an unknown caldera (that created the Lund Tuff) have all produced bigger eruptions.
Then there is a huge amount of unseparated ash deposits in Mexico which could provide evidence of even bigger eruptions...
99tollap 3 years ago
err check your facts toba is big but its not as big as yellowstone.yellowstone ended the world 640,000 yrs ago.Check it out before you respond calling me an idiot.Yellowstone is due and when it goes the north is done.toba is about 100 kilometers yellowstone is close to 300 kilometers when this bitch goes wer'e fucked.
Haplesshiccuper 2 years ago
Firstly, re-read my post. I did not call you an idiot!
Secondly, the amount of material erupted by Toba was greater than the largest Yellowstone eruption. This means the active magma chamber was bigger, and consequently the volcano was bigger. I have no idea what '300 kilometers' refers to, but if it's caldera size then that has nothing to do with the size of the volcano. Supervolcano sizes are based on amount of eruptable/erupted magma, not caldera size...

What are your suggestions for me living in CO and all the people in wyoming and surrounding states if this occurs. is southern CO a safe place.
kanetrain111 3 years ago
kanetrain, my advice to you living in Colorady is to install old VW windshiled washers on your solor panels.

I don't pay any attention to any of the doomsday crap Nostradamus came up with so I don't think Yellostone will erupt for sure in 2012. prayfortruejustice 3 years ago
Just as Mt St Helens puffed out more steam and the subduction zone off the NW coast rumbled and sputtered bible thumpers flipped their books open certain this was fulfillment of the prophecy that never comes, and the scientists steadied their cameras and watched and waited....
The fact remains when Yellowstone (latest focus) or anything else blows it will be a surprise, and, it will be nature doing what it has always done, and, IT ISN'T ABOUT US.

what about the war we continue to fund while we over look the disaster in Texas as 500,000 Americans lost their homes.

Except one. The LKWY has a gaps in the data on Jan 4,5,following the swarm.
