But great thing is some of the people that come out are mechanics and they mess and tune each others cars. Not to mention because of the direction of piston movement its more efficient than traditional motors, why do you think Porsche uses them so often..
@hydrosav2007 Displacement? lol come on now, its a wide known FACT that evos rape STi's. I have a 2006 SGM STi. and yes, it has bigger displacement, but that only means low end torque (barely). Due to the boxer engine, the flow efficiency SUCKS. compared to an inline engine such as the 4G63. Look at the placements of the headers/turbo/exhaust on the Evo and compare it to the STi. DO YOU SEE THE EFFICIENCY THE EVO HAS? MOD FOR MOD evo will take STi no doubt. Now lets look at handling ->
@Evo2nr90 Also torques is determined more by the stroke of the piston, just because a vehicle has more displacement doesn't neccassarily mean more torque.. I like evos but prefer STI, interior I think is nicer both look good on outside, but even professional turners would say they prefer STI overall for track, (Wyotech high performance grad, avid autocrosses, and Mercedes Benz of Bervily Hills technician for a living) so I'm well informed and have debated this topic multiple times

Back on topic of handling, the Evo's steering ratio is 13:1 compared to the sloppy 15:1 on the STi. you will feel the confidence in the Evo compared to the STi. @hydrosav2007 dude, I have an STi. i know what is good and what isn't i've owned both cars at one point. putting the header next to the turbo has a tremendously more efficient air flow rather than have the headers on the bottom and the turbo top left corner, WAY too much piping, which reduces performance. Also with top mount you risk heat soak on the sti. the evo, people heat wrap the headers for increased spool, and there are heat shields for the radiator. you need more research.

you can tell by just listening to the evos that they have more hp. in drag racing when ever it is an uneven match up the car with the less hp is given a head start against the greater hp car, hence what we are seeing in the video
if you guys haven't noticed all the subaru's have been giving a head start meaning they have less hp that the evos therefore they are at an disadvantage.
@sonson381 I don't know, but I think the two cars are just starting at different times (each with their own respective 1/4 clock depending on when each individual car started). Else how at 2:40 would the car on the right finish AFTER the car on the left, yet have a quicker time?

Evos are Cheaper to make go fast but sacrifice reliability. i went the rought of the STI and made a quality build on my STI and its a 11 second car right now. most people on these comments dont even own either of these cars and dont know why and one car is faster then the next guys, and FYI to some of you on here, stock for stock STI's have more HP, it is however alot cheaper to make a EVO 400+ HP over STI.
first off, louder doesn't mean better sounding. In terms of sheer aural porn, very few 4 bangers come close to the deep rumble of the impreza's boxer.

WRX stands for World Rally Cross. The Impreza WRX has always been based on the Impreza Rally cars. The STi versions come race ready, all you need is tires.

Where's the STI's?? Obviously these are WRX's. The only STI was the White one. I've never seen so many bad drivers at a track in my LIFE. Keep those cars at home, and stop disgracing the brand!

@Evo2nr90 what do you mean facepalm, STI has more displacement than the evo and because its a boxer engine its mounted lower in the chassis for better center of gravity. Not to mention because of the direction of piston movement its more efficient than traditional motors, why do you think Porsche uses them so often..

@hydrosav2007 Displacement? lol come on now, its a wide known FACT that evos rape STi's. I have a 2006 SGM STi. and yes, it has bigger displacement, but that only means low end torque (barely). Due to the boxer engine, the flow efficiency SUCKS. compared to an inline engine such as the 4G63. Look at the placements of the headers/turbo/exhaust on the Evo and compare it to the STi. DO YOU SEE THE EFFICIENCY THE EVO HAS? MOD FOR MOD evo will take STi no doubt. Now lets look at handling ->

@Evo2nr90 Also torques is determined more by the stroke of the piston, just because a vehicle has more displacement doesn't neccassarily mean more torque.. I like evos but prefer STI, interior I think is nicer both look good on outside, but even professional turners would say they prefer STI overall for track, (Wyotech high performance grad, avid autocrosses, and Mercedes Benz of Bervily Hills technician for a living) so I'm well informed and have debated this topic multiple times

@hydrosav2007 The evo will take the STi on the track, both on the strip and roadcourse. now that we covered the modding efficiency of the 4G63 (oh by the way, did i mention 4g63 is ironblock, able to hold more boost than the semi-close deck of the ej257?). Back on topic of handling, the Evo's steering ratio is 13:1 compared to the sloppy 15:1 on the STi. you will feel the confidence in the Evo compared to the STi. The STi will understeer like a boat compared to the Evo. STi having a boxer

@hydrosav2007 engine is more of a curse than a gift. now we are talking about the USDM Evo and STi here. Over in japan the STi uses 2.0 closed deck design, so its MUCH more capable than the USDM sti. I own an STi and i feel it has been a mistake. sorry to burst your bubble, i accepted the facts, so should you. *facepalm*

@Evo2nr90 First off I'm not going to argue an opinion and I'm not saying the STI is better, just that the design is better, and if you don't think so I respect that, your just wrong in so many ways, that's why the National Autocross Association puts stock STI in class AS and puts the EVO in a lower BS class.. Having the intakeanifold on the top and exhaust headers on bottom creates less heat soak, evo puts header and turbo right near the radiator? And you say it's better, wow, it must be bliss

@hydrosav2007 dude, I have an STi. i know what is good and what isn't i've owned both cars at one point. putting the header next to the turbo has a tremendously more efficient air flow rather than have the headers on the bottom and the turbo top left corner, WAY too much piping, which reduces performance. Also with top mount you risk heat soak on the sti. the evo, people heat wrap the headers for increased spool, and there are heat shields for the radiator. you need more research.

you can tell by just listening to the evos that they have more hp. in drag racing when ever it is an uneven match up the car with the less hp is given a head start against the greater hp car, hence what we are seeing in the video

@sonson381 I don't know, but I think the two cars are just starting at different times (each with their own respective 1/4 clock depending on when each individual car started). Else how at 2:40 would the car on the right finish AFTER the car on the left, yet have a quicker time?

@CIKO32123 the STi uses a 2.5 boxer engine and the EVO uses a 4 straight, and the different type of mods they have :)

@CIKO32123 there were mixes of WRX's, wagons, STI's.... they were all Evo's.
Evos are Cheaper to make go fast but sacrifice reliability. i went the rought of the STI and made a quality build on my STI and its a 11 second car right now. most people on these comments dont even own either of these cars and dont know why and one car is faster then the next guys, and FYI to some of you on here, stock for stock STI's have more HP, it is however alot cheaper to make a EVO 400+ HP over STI.

WRX stands for World Rally Cross. The Impreza WRX has always been based on the Impreza Rally cars. The STi versions come race ready, all you need is tires.
