Granger considered himself bisexual, he had relationships with women as well as men - just because he settled down with a male partner for the last years of his life doesn't automatically mean that he was just gay. Robert Walker was deeply in love with his first wife Jennifer Jones and was a very troubled man offscreen. I have never heard anything about him being bisexual - it's possible I suppose. I think he just didn't want to be alone (as Farley talked about it here).
I think the fact that both of them were gay in real life, but having to hide it at the time, was something you can feel through the screen, Hitchcock must have loved having them play these characters because of all the gay undertones. See "The Celluloid Closet" for more about it.....a fine documentary
Walker's Bruno Antony was one of the greatest movie villans of all time. Pure evil, but curiously likeable and charming at the same time. He should have at least been nominated for an Oscar.
Seems he always had an amazing youthfulness about him, even into his 70s and 80s. I enjoyed him in his Italian films from the 70s as well as his more "classic" hollywood ones.
anyone else thinks farley looks like robert downey jr esp in strangers on a train
