@wi77tt Michael is stuck on the island for eternity for murdering Ana Lucia and Libby. Eko is probably like Ana Lucia, “not ready” to move on yet (as Desmond tells Hurley). Rousseau and Alex may have already moved on or not played a big enough part in the survivors’ life.
Here are a few other problems I've had....1) Why couldn't MIB leave island when Dharma came and went? Or even when Ben and the others came and went? surely the first Dharma ppl didn't have the means to keep him at bay. 2) Black Smoke Monster lived UNDER the temple, so why the need to place black sand around "Jacob's" cabin? Jacob stayed in the foot according to Richard 3) Why only the new candidates? Dogen and the others were unfit? Makes no sense.
@jestermonkey2 1.)Jacob’s brother as able to leave the island, he simple lacked the means to do so. Whan he died and became the smoke monster, then he couldn’ t leave cause Jacob used his power to kep him there
@jestermonkey2 2.) The ash must just be MIB’s weakness. Jacob used the cabin only once (season 3, the Man Behind the Curtain), the rest of the time (i.e. when it “found” Hurley in season 4) it is the smoke monster using it. Recall when Illana finds it in Season 6 she says “he hasn’t been there in a long time”. 3.) Who knows why? It’s just how it is with the “Island Protector Rules”.
@07jackers Because they're not in the afterlife yet they're in a sort of reliving of their life with the same issues but under different circumstances. Eventually they remember their life and once they all have they move on to heaven.
So I got a question or 2 ok? First : Everything that happened in the island was real right? Jacob, MIB, Smoke monster, etc... Second : What do the freakin numbers mean?? Third : That Sideways timeline or alternative universe where everybody was dead, is that heaven ? And why does Jack have a son there? Hope u can answer all of those ; )
@BlackBurguer 1.) Yes everything on the Island was real. 2.) The numbers are just the numbers. They re-occur all the time and affect some characters a lot (Hurley, Rousseau, etc.) and don't really affect others. 3.) That's not heaven, its a flashforward to the pre-heaven where each character relives their lives with the same issues but different circumstances then they move on to heaven
Hi, just wondering is everyone that goes to the island actually dead as it now seems that the island is purgatory. If this is the case what role does Jacob play?
@MrRICO205 The Island is not purgatory. It's real. "purgatory", or more appropriately judgement after life, expressed through a wierd metaphor of an alternate reality, is not the Island. Make sense? Jacob is the real world protector of the Island.
If Jack seen The smoke monster off the island In his fathers form like you said, then why is he still trying to get off the Island when he can clearly explore the outside world? Thanks for answering all questions
@kingyshell When Jack sees his dad in Season4 off the Island it's Jack going crazy (or possibly jacob guiding Jack back to island). MIB can't do anything off Island. Thats why he also uses Christian Shepard's form to guide Locke to the wheel, because he can only influence Locke til he leaves the Island.
@DannyBres Widmore was the leader of the Others. He broke the rules of the Others and was banished by Ben, who then took his position as leader. Widmore wanted revenge on Ben. But then Jacob comes to him and tells him to redeem himself by bringing Desmond to the island wot help bring down the smoke monster.
@GimmeAFuckingD 1.) No they never become human. Once the Island starts to die, Evil Locke becomes mortal and vulnerable, and they kill him. Jack is still the Island Protector but sacrifices himself to save the Island. 2.) When the Island starts to die it no longer can give the Island Protector the power to keep him immortal.
8) How come the smoke monster killed Eko (I understand they had to kill him off because he was leaving due to personal reasons I just thought you may have a theory on it)
9) Benjamin has a childhood gf called annie, I am curious if he killed her during the perge, or if she got away?
10) Can every leader of the Island make there own rules? Like the mother making rules that Jaycob and MIB Can't hurt each other? Also if there is a new leader can previous rules be broken?
@kingyshell 8.) He could have just cause he wasn't a candidate as far as we know. Or maybe it was part of the monster's elaborate plan to steer Locke to death at Ben's hands so he could use Locke to get Ben to kill Jacob. 9.) They never say. Either is completely plausible. I think it more likely she was purged though, but that's entirely my opinion.
@kingyshell 10.) Jacob's mother had the power to make binding rules. Jacob grew up with these and was accustomed to them. The Others are Jacob's people, he gives them rules, however he doesn't enforce them. Therefore when Widmore for example breaks their rules by having Penny with an outsider, the Others banish him, not Jacob. See what I mean? The rules for Jacob and such power-houses are binding, but the Others just follow them willingly
To @JLindquistBP Hi. I read someone's theory that MIB was inhabiting the body of Jack's Father in the final scenes in the church, and that he fooled them all into thinking he was Jack's father, when he was leading them into some trap. The guy forwarding this idea said that this is deduced from the fact that the coffin in the last scenes was empty. Any thoughts on this? Also, regarding the exploding of the nuclear bomb - did that kill Juliet and anyone else or did it create time shifts or both?
@dingbat19 First, the nuke didn't trigger the alternate reality. We just started to see the alternate reality (really a flash forward) after the nuke. No correlation, even though at the start of the season the makers fooled us into thinking so. As for the smoke monster theory, very interesting! I like it! Out of the box! Props to the guy who did it. But the monster is defeated by Jack and Kate. That seemed pretty concrete
1) Why did MIB turn into smoke monster and Jack or Desmond Didn't?
2) Why does jack see Christian off the island in previous series?
3) How come walt appears before Shannon, Siyeed and Locke on the Island? also If this is Jaycob doing this why has he chose walt, and how is he doing it?.
4) Why was Walt Kidnapped
5) Can MIB Only appear as dead people? If so Why.
6) After turning into Locke How come MIB can not change form after this?
7) Is the smoke Monster MIB Or something controlling people?
@kingyshell 1.) Jack may have, it's entirely possible. We just don't know either way. But one assumes if he did, Hurley stops him eventually. 2.) That was the smoke monster. 3.) Walt is doing it, he was calling for help, using his "mind projection" powers. 4.) Walt is kidnapped to the Others can try to learn about his powers.
@JLindquistBP I disagree with your theory about Walt and projecting his mind to appear before Shannon, Sayid and Locke. Walt came to Locke and had knowledge about what it was Locke had to do...this was while Locke was in the Dharma grave after Ben shot him. Walt was soaked with water. I think the writers forgot this when telling us MIB's restrictions. Besides this though, Jacob's cabin moves, WHY? It had black powder put around it, WHY?(MIB was already moving throughout island and not contained)
@kingyshell 5.) Yes, why is irrelevant, he is a monster thing from hell, so he has his limits. 6.) I think that this is because in previous "bodies" he's taken, he can't have physical contact with others. When he permanently takes Locke, he trades his mobility for physical strength. 7.) Jacob's brother was killed by Jacob, his body shot out of the waterfall. The MIB Monster is a twisted evil copy of him.

Reading that the numbers are a sequence for end of the world and also that much of Lost parallels characters, themes, and motifs in Stephen King Novels. I actually found it helpful to read summaries on 'The Stand' and 'The Dark Tower'. Actually answered more questions than the final episode.
the statue was built by egiptions brought to the island
hell when did anything begin thats not a story related question
if they are a candidate they can go in the light and it will turn them eviland invicible also drinking from a cup of the protector will make u invinsable to evil
5. Mr. Echo? Devastating, DUI or whatever too much to be written back in? Walt too old?
6. Before Miles joined Whitmore, van pulled up and they said it was the stand between good and evil. Assuming The Island is the gate between reality, heaven and hell? Jacob killed many birds with one stone finding a gatekeeper and helping the troubled people find each other?
7. Any talks at all about tolkien type spinoffs? Future bringing adult Aaron, Walt and Gia back for another showdown with evil?
@SuperSlayer2000 5.) Maybe the actor was busy, that's the most likely idea. I assume story-wise he is good deep down and still atoning for stuff much like Ana Lucia or Ben. 6.) Yeah those people are Jacob's people operating off Island. 7.) Not that I've heard but I sure hope so brotha
2. Why couldn't children be born on the island aside from Jacob, Man in Black, Aaron, Ben's daugther and Jin's daughter? Furthermore, wasn't Aaron supposed to be something important? Same with Walt? Did they just forget about the child motif?
3. Whitmore's purpose for coming back? Also, Whitmore obviously knew something telling Flocke to spare his daughter...not sure if this is explained, but assuming the cork isn't put on evil, we assume evil consumes the worl
@SuperSlayer2000 1.) The numbers are just a cool recurring theme somehow tied to the Island. It's important to some characters, not to others. 2.) I think they left that unknown since the main characters really never see the effects of it. That's just a theory though, I think with Aaron he would have been significant had Claire not returned. As for the pregnancy stuff they never answered it but I think it had something to do with Dharma not supposed to be there.
@SuperSlayer2000 Widmore came back on Jacob's order to redeem himself for braking the rules as an Other and to help stop Locke(Smoke Monster): the thing he really did to help was to bring Desmond to the island.
I get what youre saying its like the flash sideways was really a flashfoward of them basically after they died reliving the events that happend as if the plane had never crashed only in really trying to move on in the after life with one another
Lost- to me was a great example of how people of power can be ruthless and people of faith can be such suckers. They all died for nothing. To make this scenario warm and fuzzy they had to make a scene like they where in heaven. Fucking stupid! There was tons of science to solved but ended up stupid mythology crap! Left me empty. Im sure christians had a tear
I think in "real life" the Oceanic 815 does crash onto the island and that the island has existed for centuries and humans have been captivated by it. Jack does die in real life in the end. Walt's dog comes to comfort him while Rose and her "husband" are still on the island, along with Hurley (the new Jacob), Desmond, and Linus. Jack watches in satisfaction that the island has been saved and also watches the few survivors make it out alive on the plane, flying off to civilization.
@Ameeran5 Those are the details the producers kept vague to maintain the mystery of the Island. As for my theories, I think the light is the heart of the Island which is the "cork" keeping the "wine" of hell, or evil, from spilling into the world. So the Smoke Monster is a blight from evil/hell sent to try to destroy the "cork" that is the Island
@blakehirt No. Everything seasons 1-5 happened, like legit in the real world. In season 6 the stuff on the Island also happens in the legit real world. However the "flash sideways" in season 6 is actually a flashforward to the time when the characters recap their lives once they've all died, centered on Jack, and then all move on to the afterlife. Basically they move on to heaven after reliving the essences of their lives in the "purgatory"-ish reality. Does that make sense?
Looks like Darlton watched the Anne Hathaway movie "Passengers" 100 too many times!!! Sorry to spoil that movie for anyone, but it's EXACTLY like the LOST finale!!! I liked it, I just wish they would have explained ORIGINS more!!! Why is it that shows (or movies) don't do that anymore?!?! The last story I can remember that did that is Tolkien's The Silmarillion!!! I mean WTF! Get it together writers!
2. Did the people get off safely on the plane? If so, does that mean time is irrelevant in the alternate reality? Because Kate was in the church, suggesting she died, but if time doesn't matter, maybe she lived to be old and that's why she says she missed Jack so much. Also, Aaron was in the Church meaning he was dead, if so, how did he die?
3. Is Michael/Hugo/Ben still on the island? I though it sunk?
@djdestroyer 1.)Walt's powers are basically he can make things he imagines happen. How he got this power is never mentioned. Maybe Jacob gave it to him to spur the survivors towards their fate.
@djdestroyer2.)Yes, the "flashsideways" is really a flashforward to an indeterminable time in the future when Jack relives his life after everyone else has also died. Kate, Sawyer, etc. lived out a normal length life, while Hurley lived who-knows how long as the Island protector. They all appeared in church as Jack remembered them , because obviously many of them would be older otherwise.
@djdestroyer 3.) It didn't sink. Jack saved it. The reason it is sunk in the "flashsideways" is that the events in there are symbolically the same events/problems/issues minus the Island's influence.
@JLindquistBP I don't think so, the island is shown below the water in the flash, Juliet even said, "It worked", before her death. So the bomb did indeed go off but it's only real effect was the time traveling, Dharma had to put the button pushing in there to offset the electromagnetism upsetting everything BECAUSE of the bomb. If Jack hadn't set the bomb off, then there would be no need to push the button.
@uninvisiblity You mean the polar bears? Assuming the survivors didn't kill the last of them (which is a very valid possibility) it/they probably lived out on the Island or died in the finale's almost-sinking of the island.

@djdestroyer 4.) Ben still has "stuff to do" most likely atonement for his past sins.
5.) No Jack's son is symbolic. Of what exactly i don't know.

what happened to the polar bear? :o

@uninvisiblity You mean the polar bears? Assuming the survivors didn't kill the last of them (which is a very valid possibility) it/they probably lived out on the Island or died in the finale's almost-sinking of the island.
