Such an amazing woman. I just began to dance in 2007 and barely knew her when she died. Shame on me ! She's the greatest dancer I've ever seen. She makes me cry. It's amazing all that we can feel when we see this extract of Caffé Muller. There are no words to explain it... maybe there's just dance !

"Three decaying walls enclosed the dimly lit stage space cluttered with dozens of cafe chairs, suggesting the loneliness of a lonesco play. Bausch entered in a red wig, high heels, and a thin nightgown, anxiously clutching the folds of a coat to her body. Failing in her attempts to become involved with others, she danced introspectively to her own tempo as they drifted away" - No Fixed Points, by Nancy Reynolds and Malcolm McCormick
I'm writing a paper on this right now.. @ 3am =[ lol
This is one of the most amazingly boring things I've seen. I have just a question: Why? Is it just being obnoxious and being a snob about their art? Why do they do something that only artists can understand? I'm not surprised people don't go to theatre anymore.
@thecataclysman The beauty of Art, Performance and dance is that we take from it what we will. If you didnt take anything from it then that is your prerogative. If you watch this at some other time then maybe you will or maybe you wont draw the same conclusion. Its in the eye of the audience what they take away. Its sad that you didnt find anything to take from this but I am sure that you will remember this performance for one reason or another.
like it very much and I use Pina in Brazil for dance research, not copying, let's make this clear ... if you have more, please, post it ... thanks a lot
Danke Pina.

This aria is actually Dido's lament "When I am laid in earth" from Dido and Aeneas. The music is very similar to "O let me weep" but pay attention to the lyrics. In another performance (in film Hable con Ella), Pina Bausch used the above aria from The Fairy Queen.
R.I.P... a distinguished artist with a huge contribution in dancetheatre.
This is an excerpt from a 5 part documentary series called Dance of the Century, produced by A La Sept. I have 4 parts recorded on VHS from when it was broadcasted on BRAVO in 1992. Now the question... Does anyone know if it is possible to get it on DVD or even in on VHS? I've looked everywhere.
unfortunately for students of dance, the videos of Pina Bausch's works are not available for sale. Some institutions have copies that you have to go there to view.
Just a quick note for Bausch fans. You might want to see one former company member's work. Meryl Tankard's Wild Swan, which is represented on YouTube.
Incredible. I own 3 books on Bausch and this is the first time I've been able to see a performance, well excerpt. Very moving and more than I expected. Should be required viewing in every dance program in the US.
