And SRK's old movies were nice but nowdays he's just not good anymore. Then he switched mostly to romantic comedy and stuck with that for years acting with mostly the same actresses. SRK just does same crap, but since it's romance he's just more popular. Most of his major hits consist of Kajol, Juhi, or Madhuri.

That aside, I can't imagine anyone else playing his roles.
