He snatched that out of the air like a fly! Another great (and long forgotten) catch was Mike Veletta's catch to remove Martin Sneddon at the Adelaide Oval in 1987 (I think?). Also Roger Harper caught an incredible reflex catch close in off Alan Border sometime in the 80s.
Warne's bowling was always very difficult to read. Aloo (Inzamam) had his feet all wrong, he was too close to cut the ball, which was why he hit it so far up the bat. The delivery was actually begging to be hammered, given correct feet placement. Waugh's catch was brilliant, but I think the fact that he was backing away actually helped him get to it.
Brilliant! To me he is one of the best slip fielder of this era. It always is a special catch if its taken in the slip cordon. Toughest job after Silly point/short leg.
amazing... btw! do you have mark waugh's 6 off Dan vettori, I've heard about that six so many times over the years on commentary whenever they speak about a big 6, but never seen it.
@robelinda2@robelinda2 Freakish catch. There was a long period where Australia could hardly drop one, with Hayden heavily involved in gully of course. I'd love to see a Mark Waugh compilation. I watched another vid of a Mark Waugh classic catch and you can hear the Kiwi commentator say the catches were good that day (1998 WACA vs NZ) - do you have the Kiwi wickets for that innings? Could be awesome.
Of course you need bit of luck to take catches like these but the better fielders get their hands in the right position at the right time. Those are the ones we call natural fielders and Junior was one among them.
Mark Waugh may have lotta competition to being called the most elegant batsmen.....but he's hands down the most elegant/brilliant fielder ever.....the ball always seems to be nestling in his palms as though he had velvet gloves. I remember his catch of VVS in Chennai test of that epic series in 2001....it was an incredible and impossible catch! His slip catches are legendary....I was puzzled by his effortless brilliance even in 91-92 where we were thrashed 4-0......he gobbled many brilliant ones
remember this catch alright,.... and this match too! pak could have won and leveled the series had it not been for darrel hair not giving justin langer caught behind in 2nd innings....
@FreudSG Yeah forget that Adam Gilchrist was destroying Pakistan with 149* with a strike rate of 91....so many Pakis crying over the Peter Parker decision, NOT DARRELL HAIR! Interesting that they have nothing to say over the 57 Inzamam plumb lbw's given not out in pakistan.....
@robelinda2 Yeah I know at the time JL said it was the handle cracking and a lot of people believed him. Having retired, he says he smashed the crap out of it.

@robelinda2 , mr rasist aussi, go fucking back to your jail what ur worth u piece of shit... get drunk or something what else are u worth, another fucking ignorant westerner!
@robelinda2 Agree with you there Rob, throwing out the old rasist card, despite the fact there is never any mention of Langer's 1st innings dismissal where he was given out bat/pad when he missed the ball by miles. Great stuff with the uploads Rob, I and I am sure many other people appreciate the effort you go to, thanks :)
@ACDCMelbourne2010 The ball flew into his hand and stuck there, then Mark Waugh jumped at it. It was more luck than skill, I think even he would admit that.
there was this another Mark Waugh--Shane Warne catch...to dismiss an SA batter ...[in the epic 5--run SCG test]...Waugh was at silly point, the ball flew off the handle & Waugh showed tremendous reflexes to catch it JUST in front of face...
@say2chander He was just incredible, though I DO remember he went through a bad run of dropping catches off the fast bowlers in his last test series, against Pakistan in Sri Lanka and Sharjah. My favourite fieldsmen of all time!
Rob you are 1 hell of a legend mate, thank you so much for this, this is no doubt 1 of the best catches of all time, it was behind him how do u do that? thanks again mate.
Can't believe this only has 44 000 views. I've probably viewed it at least 5 times now.

What an amazing fielder. On the last replay you can see Mark Waughs right hand instinctively move even before the bat hit the ball.
