  • yes definitely a zacky look

  • Comment removed

  • it's a really good review, I liked it a lot, 'cause it encircles most of the features I wanted to see in a review. and also I think I'm gonna go for the axis as well :)

  • Great video... I have never played axis but I do know most metal drummers use them for double bass speed... My ? is....would they be a good pedal for a drummer that plays jazz,funk..with the evrey now and then quick double base notes.. In other words can it be used as a regular pedal for regular music... Just wondering..Thanks for any info

  • So what do you think about the Pearl Demon Drive?

  • guys, quick question, i am getting stuff for my recently acquired pearl drum set (used) and i want to purchase some NOT expensive but decent double pedals, and i found the pearl P902 power shifter at amazon for cheap, so i would like to ask, does anyone have any experience with that particular double pedal, would it be worth it to get it? is priced at $130 and it says it was $359... if it is not that good, which one would you recommend me under $250??

  • I personally prefere DW 9000, they have a soft part in the head that I personally think it sound better

  • wtf, zacky v play drums? :O

  • what do you think of the sonor 472, or just sonor in general? I need a more responsive petal, and believe me, I would get a speed cobra or axis but i just don't have the $500 dollars to spend on it.

  • cool vid, but whos ever gone so far back that you hit the heel plate, i find it hard to wrap my mind about anyone doing that, especially if they seem experienced, i mean what if that happened at a show ?

  • I hate it when videos like these come out and their good comparison videos, then people start getting down each others throats about whats the best pedal, the he says it's PERSONAL PREFERENCE!

  • great video, informative and unbiassed. Thanks for giving me a look at the axis pedal. Its blatantly obvious that the are definitely some potential advantages in the axis pedal in comparison to the dw 9000 pedal. I personally wouldn't buy either but thats only because I'm not very good with my footwork and therefore don't yet need a pedal of such a high quality to meet my needs as a drummer. Seriously though, thanks for the great video. :D

  • Axis X-L2 Longboards or Pearl Demon Drives? I want axis for the price, but I don't know if pearl would offer better (or much better) quallity. Does anyone think demon drive is worth the extra $150?

  • @TheProphetOfWrath Axis, demon drives aren't worth it. A lot of good drummers try them out and then go back to their p2000c or axis pedals.

  • Both the 9000 and axis pedals are really good pedals. I have DW8000(Pretty much same thing) and it works well for me. Iron Cobras blow donkey dick.. They have waaay too heavy of a feel.. And I might add, I've never found myself pushing into the heel plate on my DW.. Or any pedal for that matter..

  • @Gilligunz Well, i don't play fast but to my knowledge, drummers will tap on heel plates if they reach at least 200 bpm.

  • @joshuachan56 I'm well over 200 bpm.. Technique is important, along with endurance. Do these things well, and you can avoid going that far down the pedal.

  • @Gilligunz .....Iron Cobras are actually pretty good for chain driven pedals (alot of people were using them before axis got big). But it is all personal preference.

  • @falconer6439 Iron Cobra was my first double pedal, owned them for probably 5 or 6 years. When I was 16, I finally got a job, and bought DW. DW just has a smoother feel to them. And Ive owned them ever since.

  • @Gilligunz Cant really bash the pedals if you ditched them when you were 16.....

  • @falconer6439 Sure I can. Like I said, I owned them for 6 years, then changed pedals and the feel (for me at least) made a huge difference.

  • The will be really useful for a heeltoe technique... right??

  • I have to ask, when your at high speeds, your not giving letting the chain get much clack because yoru coming down a lot faster, i cant imagine it makes that much of a difference....

  • @ThePaulGenny Direct drives really do make a big difference.

  • P.s. Ill give you beater action ;) haha

  • I love how he actually keeps it bias, hes not saying one is better, he is basing it on personal preferance

  • @ThePaulGenny The definition of bias is being unfair. is that what you are saying?

  • @juadrummer68 Ya I actually meant unbiased, my bad

  • prolly a stupid question but can you adjust the foot board height on the axis pedals?

  • @thekidofpt1 yesss and the driveshaft is round so you can adjust the slave pedal up and down. Plus they DO sell parts for raising the footboard

  • But surely if your foot goes to the back of the pedal of the axis, you're going to be tapping the floor instead?

  • well your comaring a chain and a direct drive .........

  • these or pearl eliminator!?

  • @xIIEPiiCFAiiLx axis pearls are over rated trust me

  • @xIIEPiiCFAiiLx never mind chose pearl demon drives are amazing!!!

  • @MrWickedclown2000 im not a budget, since my dad is rich and christmas is right here:p lol . sooo demon drives it is! thanks for the input

  • i love my axis pedals. btw you look like Zacky Vengeance.

  • @Jmast3r6046 no he dosent ur a fucking idiot

  • @MrWickedclown2000 you mad faggot?

  • What's the whole idea of the electronic drum trigger?

  • a huge bitch to adjust

  • i use trick pro 1-v detonator...:) ...they are better:)

  • If you are going so fast that you start tapping on heal plates......Lets work on foot control....

  • Pro v1 rules

  • @estebanskater123 yeah man..... totally agree with ya :) ..i own 2 and they are fkin imba :D

  • @darthzaietz yeah men, if you wanna go fast, Trick pedals has to be...... i´m looking forward to buy a speed cobras, because i don´t play so fast

  • they're too damn expensive

  • how can i rase my footboard on a axis pedal,.,. i like them high but cant figure out how?...

  • @xLambOfGod if u follow direct drive bar up to that peace next to your beater mount its a a little bar with either a thumb screw or a drum key bolt just losen it up and and move that little peice up that little bar as far as it will go and that will move your foot board..

  • RUFIOOOOO!!

  • Who's Derek Rodney? haha

  • axis are fucking overrated shit

  • nice munroe piercing poser.... keep on keepin' on.

  • BOTH ARE REALLY GREAT PEDALS

  • The only thing that is good about the Axis is that you can play really really fast with them, you can play really fast with the DW too but you'll get moore power with the DW. But if you are a 270 bpm drummer then the Axis pedal suits you better :) but personaly i like the DW better, the Axis is way too sensetive for me, and so is the Tama Speed cobra. :)

  • Dw makes a long board as well for the 8000 series.....And a heel plate-less 5000 series now .....the Pearl demon drive are extremely fast check John Longstrengh out for that one .. the Tama speed cobra has real nice feel with a sudo long board that is very responsive and trick now has a built in laser trigger for there bigfoot t series.......all and all I Still love my A-L classic longboard's with my e-kit's

  • fuck axis pedals there overpriced

  • @MrWinterSniper check out Trick bass pedals, THAT'S overpriced

  • that was my first double pedal too lol

  • how can you tell which ones are for you?? EASY.

step 1: go to guitar center and try some out

    step 2: DECIDE!!!!!

  • @mcrfreako1011 except guitar center sucks balls and doesnt carry the higher end more expensive pedals like trick, axis, or czarcie kopyto pedals. if you like the more generic feeling pedals go to guitar center. for specialized pedals look elsewhere.

  • Iron cobras all the way, I never have any problems hitting the footplate playing at high speeds, and definitely for me the most comfortable and consistent pedals, and still great at higher speeds

  • have any of you guys tried to get a job or sell stuff???

  • ive had cobras for around 4 years now. they have kind of lost there power and the left double part is squeeky and it is rough

  • "why choose axis pedals?"

    Well why not?

  • @FORTY848, I didn't choose them because of Trick Pedals :)

  • No Your All Wrong Pearls Eliminator Demon Drive Was Rated The Best

  • @SAWUSB1 If I recall correctly, Pearl Eliminators came out quite recently. They're probably more high-tech than most older pedals. Also, this video is probably comparing them to similar pedals.

  • @SAWUSB1 what drummer on earth said that? Ive had both.... and so far axis kicks the shit out of demon drives, hands down. demon drives don't have any power. theyre only good if you use triggers. I learned to play double bass with out triggers, and so far axis pedals are the only pedals that hit hard enough to let me play 270 bpm and still be able to hear separation in notes.

  • @SkiesAboveReason1 mhmm I Suppose So But For Me I Prefer Demon Drive

  • @SkiesAboveReason1

    Not really dude.

I own a pair of Axis X's, and my buddy has the Longboards, and i can not stand them. I used the Demon drive pedals and they felt WAAAAAY better to me.

But, at the same time, i perfer DW9000's over both, and i like the eliminators better than iron cobra.

    It's all about personal preference.

TrentLysergic says it best at 1:24

  • @SkiesAboveReason1 Yeah sure you can hear seperation in the notes at 270.. But there is no way your audience will be able to hear anything, triggers is a great thing for fast players. The masters of fast playing styles Derek Roddy, and George Kollias BOTH says if you wanna play fast, triggers is a must...AND.. It's never the pedal but the player, if you cant get any power, it's you that do not have any power.

  • @Siggedrummer Thats true with the power. But if you listen to our vids of our live I'm sure you would say differently. The audience can easily hear the bass notes. Some people learned to do fast double bass without tapping. The beaters almost hit me in the shin, even at my highest tempos.

  • @SkiesAboveReason1 1 : i have now listened to all live videos, and there is NO song doing sixteenths in high tempo like you mentioned before 270 bpm..

2: if you would play so powerful you are saying at so high tempos, you would break the laws of physics again not possible.

    D. Roddy, George kollias. They all use triggers even tho they are the most powerful and fast players on the market atm. Laws of physics and sound my friend, it's not possible for a mic to cath all notes EVEN with power..

  • @Siggedrummer Think what you want, its been proven on click track. Im not saying triggers arent needed. They are helpful. But personally. Too many people tap when they have them, its practically cheating. George kollias and derek roddy proved you can hear without trigs(watched an unplugged video of just george kollias playing without mics.) and you could hear everything, he didnt sound muddled. its possible, just not likely.

  • @SkiesAboveReason1 Proved on the click track that isn't public ;)..It's not about what i think. It's LAWS OF PHYSICS.. simply just not possible to hear it in a live situation at those tempos only with mic's.. Yeah sure Derek, and George can be heard when video taped up close on the kit, and at a clinic.. But put that on a stage with loud ass amps.. There is ZERO chance an untriggered drum will cut through.. If you say triggers is cheating, then you say amp for guitars are cheating too.

  • @Siggedrummer I didn't say triggers are cheating. Tapping is.

  • @SkiesAboveReason1 in an early comment yes you did.. But anyways !!.. Drums 4 life dude

  • @SkiesAboveReason1 dude maybe you have very weak ankles. I use a demon drive double pedal since 6 months ago and I never had to trigger my bass to reach hearing my 16th notes at 280 bpm. Sorry

  • you know dw make petal with no heel

  • Comment removed

  • i didnt know Zacky Vengence plays drums!

  • @brkndstrng14 HAHAHA i was thinking the EXACT same thing!!!!

  • Tricks blew me away

  • these pedal comes with a carry case?

  • lol he said beater.

  • Tama, Axis, and Sabian AAX - Best combination ever.

  • @DrummingNonStop nonono DW or Pearl then it's good :P

  • @MegaNakki69 You clearly don't know anything.

  • @DrummingNonStop You name it man. Although i would like some meinl splashes..

  • I was wondering if anyone could help me.

I got these longboads on the other day and I got my springs pretty tight, both, but the slave pedal still feels slightly heavier than the main one.

    Any thoughts?

  • How do you fix the compression spring in the trick pedals if they break? That's my biggest concert with trick, other than the price.

  • @TheUndefined3 I don't think that gaining access to the spring would be much of a problem, but you would probably have to order the actual spring from Trick.

So it would most likely be very simple, but may be less than convenient.

  • @maidenfan10210 Ah, do you know a lot about Trick because I stumbled upon them a little after I started looking at Axis, I don't know a whole lot about Trick so how would say Trick stands up against Axis?

  • @TheUndefined3 I know a bit about them, but I am inexperienced with them,my experience was brief and pleasant, but I couldn't compare the two. I am an Axis user,if that is of any help.

  • @maidenfan10210 Ok, thank you. I'm probably going to have to test Trick since I've never played on a compression spring pedal. Thank you for your time!

  • nice hair!

  • that axis must be super slick when doing the different foot techniques like heel toe and slide

  • Can I please have your DW's ?

  • nice born of osiris shirt

  • theres not even a question about it, axis destroys all pedals

  • @wickedwoodshaunt Except Czarcie Kopyto from Poland. The Best pedals ever!

  • iron cobra much better

  • @rhinozzz94 No way man, Speed Cobra is.

  • Direct Link drive. Hmmm is it strong? anybody know? it wont brack on u, will it? wat i like about double chained pedals, is their original, and dont brake on u.

  • @AJHouserulez I don't think the Direct Drive will break on you, it's a solid iron bar, where the chain links can snap over time.

  • @Gl4nG3R ok. haha they just look cheap, and looks like they would break. i guess not.

  • $100 PDP's were my first ones too...................hey but i got up to 250 bpm on those things

  • what about trick pedals

  • Hey great review! I have been looking for DW 9000 pedals and was very close to buying them. You just helped me change my mind. Thanks alot!

  • who is this guy?

  • have anyone tried speedcobras with the stomp drive retrofit? im either getting that or axis longboards.

  • What is that, a mole?

  • I choose DW 5000

  • nice hair btw.

  • Надо аксис покупать все таки...

  • Axis pedals are for losers who aren't fast drummers !

  • @015Coco then why does george kollias use axis??

  • @darkmercy87 He's fast because he uses axis, if you put him an iron cobra or an DW9002 you will be surprised

  • @015Coco lol see krimh first he uses iron cobra's and hes not as fast as kollias, get ur brain right

  • i want speed cobras

  • the onl thing i have against dw pedals is that they have the most humongous oversized heel plates that just get in the way for me

pearl eliminators all the way !

  • i dw has always been my pedal i use the dw 9000 double bass pedal xD

  • and what about demon drives :O ?

  • @batako0o man ive had demon drives for 3 days and i returned them they are smooth but not powerful and there overpriced so dont go buying them they dont feel like a good pedal

  • @batako0o the demon drives play great. adjust them to your liking. i havent tried them barefooted though so i dont know if that bump on the board would bother me barefooted. im happy w my axis L's and im thinking of getting the lazar boards for them since i have big feet. theyre interchangeable!

  • HAAAA i still have those shitty pdp pedals from guitar center!!! i need to upgrade.......

  • @TruthTheSpeaker Haha I have those pedals too, I hate them >.<

  • axis is very good but dw 9000 or 5000 too !

  • axis pedals are good but pearl eliminator demon drive pedals are the worlds greatest and fastest pedals!:)

  • @rickster11890

Dude the pedals is NOT fast ,it's the drummer who is, just ask Gene Hoglan of SYL,

  • @VikingDrummerRob LOL who are you to tell me what is fast and what isnt... and dont you mean the pedals "are" not fast. they are fast when it comes to them shadowing your foot and no other pedal does that because of the ninja bearings... and oh yes i will ask Gene because i have him on speed dial.. i know who gene is and he was in the greatest and fist death metal band... can u guess the band name??? its called death look it up dude. and dont tell me anything til u get ur facts together:P

  • @rickster11890

Yes, I did mean "are" of course. I apologise of being incapable of spelling in a language that isn't my mothertongue. And I'm sure there are numerous misspellings and incomprihensible sentences in this answer too, And not a single fuck was given by anyone. And what facts am I not getting? that to achieve speeds over 200 bpm one must have either axis or demondrive? And since it was I who brought Gene up it might be possible i know of his other bands aswell :)

  • @VikingDrummerRob lol chill out man dont get all butt hurt. im just saying that the pedal is smoother because it shadows your foot. i never said you need them to achieve over 200bpm u did. I said the pedal is the fastest in the world. i never said anything about it making you fast. The pedal is simply FASTER i know because i have them and axis pedals blow ive tried them as well. im pretty sure you have a good resource to find what you want to know about gene. its called google.

  • Check out trick pro v pedals!!!

  • I got a great deal on some AXIS shortboards of ebay. I could never have afforded them new. I love the AXIS and direct-drive in general, deffo the pedal you want for metal.

  • 2:26 if you are playing on your heel plate you have really bad technique and you probably need to work on that.

  • if you have shoe size 11 can you still do heel toe technique???

  • @xLambOfGod You could have like 20 and still do it. heel toe is a bit misleading. Anyhow I have 13 and can use this technique easily even on a DW9000. You're heel doesn't have to be on the foot board it could be way back on the floor and you can still get it. check this out for a beginner lesson.. youtube.com/watch?v=bMGCT-J-_N0

  • @heath832 Thanx alot man !!

  • @xLambOfGod You can even if you have a size 13 so to answer your question, yes.

  • lol my first pedals were pdps too and i got the classic black A longbord axis pedals on sale for 299 and GC :0

  • hey, can u tell me how long the shipment will be if i buy it online, to get to indonesia?

  • the axis are defenetly the best pedals yet...

unfortunetly i dont have the money :(

  • @atrumluminarium i want some axis pedals, but i'm the same, no money :(

  • thank you ! good review :)

  • I like your hair

  • The only pedals I'd compare now are Czarcie kopyto, Axis, Tricks and Demon drives.. still i haven't decided :/

  • trick or Czarcie kopyto.the 2 best

  • the last issue i can think of now hehe;) is that there are no index marks on anything, so you never know where exactly you had your settings, now this is not only a problem when your trying out different possitions and features of the pedal but also if your taking them apart for a gig, your not eigible to put it back where it was when reassembling it, which is why mine broke, because i didn't take them apart because i wanted them to feel just like they did in the practice space.

  • a couple of other issues i forgot to mention is the velcro, or valcro or whatever it is spelled, yeah sure your pedal doesn't move but you actually have to pull so hard that the rug gets fucked up, when you have to pull that hard it makes bumps in your rug, now during a gig if your making a fast change on your slave you may risk bumps that you can't do anything about so when you put your pedal back down it is unstable and wriggly cause of the bump in the rug.

  • if anyone would like me to explain more cons and pros you can just reply to me, but please do so in a friendly tone;) that beeing said i can't denie that when the pedals are fully functional and you have 2 bassdrums eaqually tuned i don't think i've played a better pedal. I have also played elims and the new demon drives for quite some time if you wonder anything about them.

  • first issue you won't have if you have 2 seperate bassdrums, second issue is that you can't adjust the footboard independently of the beater angle or vise versa, third issue is that the pedals are quite prizey and you have to buy a case speratly, which i didn't do because the pedals cost me to much, and that resulted in pedals breaking on the second third gig i ever did with my band. Fourth issue which they now hopefully fixed with the signature pedals is that the screws don't hold, they loosen.

  • what really annoys me on axis reviews is or any pedal review is that you never hearing about the bad stuff, until one changes pedals, this is not bashin you trent it's just a common mistake i guess, i've had the axis for 2 years and i could name a few issues, first one is on the double pedals, where main pedal is positioned in the center, which makes the slave hit the side of the head which makes an uneven sound, you notice when you play on a miced drum or just drumming by yourself.

  • You Know What They Say About Big Foot Boards!

  • i like how your not bashing on other pedals, your totally right about personal preference

  • Thanks! I have been looking to get an Axis and this really helped..

  • notice how even wen your playing the axis pedal, the dw9000 is still moving. i hate dw9000s because if its possible to cheat at drumming, dw is just that. if you hit that pedal once it hits the drum like 6 times. Axis pedals arent like that. i love them though because they are just incredibly smooth because everything has a ball bearing. theyre smoother than any other pedal, so you dont miss any beats because ur not letting the head breath, so its an alternative to pro sound gear that masks that

  • Dude. Are you kidding me? It doesnt matter the pedal. It matters the drummer. Im 13, and im playing stuff like Divine Heresy and Trivium, on a 100$ PDP pedal.

  • @TriviumA7XDrumCovers Please stop bullshitting yourself, let alone other people. Also please post a video to back up what your saying. Have respect for why all the best metal drummers are using AXIS products.. cause your just making yourself look very immature when you say stuff like "dude i can play divine heresy on a 100 dollar PDP pedal." --- I hope you prove me wrong with that video your gonna post up :)

  • @kirkvq youll see. today.

  • @TriviumA7XDrumCovers Oh yes it does, i have those PDPs(i have only been drumming for 6 monthes) and they piss me off, they are not smooth what so ever. I play perfect double bass up to 150 without any real problems(i can go faster but its not for long, that takes practice). My friend has DW 5000s they are sick, and feel so good. I can play real well. Pedals dont give you speed but they do make it more fluid to play. . . they help.

  • @thisisformusiconly well, true. but the point i was trying to get across was, most of the greatest drummers can do fast double bass, regardless the pedal, me? ive been playing for 9 years, 2 years double bass, so i do alot of my fills with one foot, and whatever pedal i go on, i always have no problems other than different tension settings. but understand what your saying. if i had to choose any pedal, id have to choose DW 3000 but with lighter beaters.

  • @TriviumA7XDrumCovers Yeah your right, you cant get fast without practice, and you cant get better by buying better pedals. You have been drumming for 9 years. . . damn. I was wondering, how long did it take you to actually become good. I mean i am not bad, but i am not good.

  • Why change pedals?

Because if you're not playing axis, you might as well put a pile of steaming hot crap in front of your bass drum, tie hammers to your shoes, and try to play.

My heel down technique has improved because of this pedal. I couldn't stand my dw 5002, and the new dw 5002 solid footboards were too gimmicky for me. I can play faster and more accurately on my axis pedals.

  • PDP yeah we all get those LOL

    never tried axil

they look better too. and theirs no hell pad to it looks like where ever you hit the pedal will hit the bass. right?

  • Falcon pedals by mapex.. screw axis (Y)
