I bought these like 4 years ago very good quality, but i was really drunk last night and cranked up the bass and volume almost max and the sub blew out, im wondering if there's a place i can buy JUST the sub-woofer because the 2 speakers still work fine, Thanks !

i have these speakers, but i cant get them to work, im pretty sure there all plugged in properly - when i jiggle the wires in the back i hear sound comming out of the Sub. and when i turn the volume really loud i can hear a feedback sound, BUT when i try and play music nothing plays i dont know if its part of the options or just my computer but wtf anyone have this same problem?

@Covexlol I have a similar problem. When I move the wires in the back, I hear this wind tunnel sound effect, the same sound you'd get if you were to blow into a microphone. What is happening? How do I stop it? It's got worse since I purchased the system 2 yrs ago. When I have it on, and no music is playing, I now hear a quiet "wind sound" How do I fix this?

@cretnotonic i fixed mine by plugging it into the back of my computer using a USB addaptor at the time when mine wasent working i had it plugged into the front of my PC straight into the sound/mic jacks but using the USB addapter fixed it

I had these for 8 years, they just died on me. They are durable and pack heavy bass but lack audio clarity. I now have Audioengine A5s, which are a far more clear and precise sound. If you need some durable speakers for a game console or you just love bass, these are a great deal.

I recently purchased a used set of these speaker systems. The input jack is real loose and does not make good contact with the jack when it is inserted. I have taken the subwoofer apart but the jack is sealed inside a little plastic case. Any ideas on how to repair???

I have had these speakers for just over 4 years and have treated them very well. At first I was a big fan, but unfortunately the left speaker now tends to go out sometimes and the whole system always makes a humming noise. The bass is also very sensitive. When I want to listen to music I have to have the bass adjusted to the minimum setting, and if i turn it up ever so slightly it gets extremely loud. Has anyone else encountered this same problem? I have the tools, so if you know plz tell me.

gosh... mine just stopped working! been using it for just over 3 months... I believe something happened with my voltage regulator - - it indicated 'unusual'. I turned it off and on. This happened in the morning. Later in the evening, I turn everything back on and my speakers, won't turn on! I have to say the sound quality from the VS4121 is incredible! But too bad...

altec vs4121 is good and excellent speaker and i used it for 3 years, now im replacing it with mx5021 with thx certification. wow, mx5021 is really awesome, i strongly recommend mx5021 as multimedia speaker, and its getting rare in the market...

Yeah. It doesn't really matter what way you set the sub... But I'd suggest to keep it normal.

You can switch it if you have to.

You really shouldn't make an audio review without using a sound level meter. Just turning up the volume and using your video camera microphone is no way to demonstrate volume level. Also, try getting a lavalier or lapel microphone so your voice stays audible and consistent. These are relatively inexpensive investments if you want to seem credible and professional when making an audio review video.

May want to do some research there son, seems your new to the audio industry. Altec (All TECHNICAL) Lansing (as in the guy that also started JBL) is not. However they do have a cheap range - which is...well how do i put this... cheap. I suggest your dad spends some money for good sound. I have found their high end stuff some of the best in the industry. Better than Yamaha even.

Lack of mid-range. The reason the water in the cup spilled out was because the bass reflex port is sucking air in and out therefore making the cup move.

I bought Altec Lansing VS4121 back in August of 2007 to use with my main desk top computer and I listen to them everyday! You ought to hear how the bass comes through when listening to classical pipe organ music, the bass rattles the walls! The main problem I am having is that the main volume control pot is going bad. A lot of pop, drop outs and scratching noise when I adjust the volume control pot. I start hearing it just a few weeks after I purchased the speakers.

I got these bad boys, for anyone who has them, put them in an enclosed wooden boc of some sort but leave a LITTLE room for air circulation and cables, it makes the base sound SOOOOOO much better and makes the distortion go away at high volumes
