@strke4ce Result would be "bumping" off the ship, and depending on mass of both ships, they'll behave accordingly (heavy not really moving inch, while lighter will go to next solar system). Unfortunetly, ramming is not doing any damage.

@92Garrus not exactly. you can afk through a majority of the game.. it's actually pretty much required. you cannot progress without the horrible 'level progression' setup they use. instead of time and effort it's just time. skills train over a period of time that unlock new ships and tech. after about a year or so you'll finally be able to pilot a ship worth a damn. all the in between time can be used for farming cash to buy the ship and goodies.

@TheRaellz The goal of EVE isn't to get a Titan. I don't want a Titan, or any capital beyond a carrier, for that matter. You can actually be rewarded for efforts, indeed. "Skill training completed" isn't the reward I'm talking about.

X3TC is nothing like EVE, and not what EVE should be. Different games entirely, EVE is on a much bigger scale. MUCH BIGGER. 7599 solar systems, in fact.

I really loved playing it though, so much better than WoW, I haven't had so much fun playing an MMO since the original Starwars Galaxies first came out

only thing i dont like about eve combat is how static the battles are haha! you'd expect ships to be flying round ( the smaller agiler one's any way) and even the big ships moving even if only slightly but then again ive never played eve, would like to but the gamelay looks just boring :s forgive me fi your a harcore fan XD

@convictedwaffle this is actually a horrible vid and doesn't show you what most battles are like. actually they're much like you were describing... i enjoy flying the small fast ships and orbiting larger ones at high speeds; pinning them down until my larger mates arrive with the massive guns. in the game those big big ones only move about 60 m/s but the fastest interceptor class ships can move at speed upward of 5 k/s. also, there's a huge variety of classes in between.

@MrFrogsie Sensor Booster, increases locking range and makes you lock faster when active, also makes your ship glow. You can use special "scripts" for them to either not boost locking range but for even faster locking, or no faster locking but much more locking range.

@QuantumOverlord Well given that most of the large battles vary from 300-2000 people it's not exactly the tactical combat of BSG. It's more a big blob of ships fire at another blob of ships while massive lag means that one side can't even see the battle.

However the smaller fights are very tactical, large ships like carriers can dock smaller ships and have fleets of fighters which is reminscent of BSG. It also leaves alot of space for good tactics and leadership to win the battle.
