@metalheadsilay (KEY- bass drum:B/Snare:S/Hihat:H/Ride:R) > i've got it as
BSH BRS BHS in triplet format i.e. 1 is a 2 is a 3 is a 4 is a (with the '4 is a' being a return to the start of the pattern i.e BSH BRS BHS BSH etc etc .
do a video of the simple yet effective R L bass R L Bass (R on floor tom and L on high tom/middle tom) That is another triplet felt groove/fill that ALOT of people have trouble with, I don't (anymore) But i'm curious to your perspective of working on that fill.
i am a young drummer and i have loved triplets eversince my drum tacher taught me bonhams, i love all your videos bu this one really caught my attention, absolutly love it.
i find your placement of your cowbell interesting i have one clamped onto my high hat and another mounted on my bass drum, what kind of feel do you get when it's up there??
Are there any good tips to improving triplet speeds? I can do it slowly, but as soon as i start to pick up speed, i just end up doing the base drum on the second hit, instead of after it.
@FireflyIII Don't pick up speed until you are sure you have got it. If you have a a metronome set it on triplets and play along. You'll get there. It takes a lot of time. RVP
May I suggest holding the sticks further up in a more natural place.. you look tense physically, not allowing for enough rebound from the sticks naturally and it is hindering the flow and feel of what you are doing.
4:55 is a great example, 7:30 also. lifting the sticks instead of naturally pushing your hand down and catching the stick with your hand (dribbling), stick already in up position on the catch.
@PositivelyBored I've never played the drums, yet the first thing I thought was I'm sure the way he's holding those sticks couldn't be better, it doesn't look like it would feel comfortable.
ok ok guys need help now i wanna ask a real drummie why when i put my toms real low they rattle it sounds the lugs are rattling please help someone i will love you forever.....maybe not but please guys :P get back to me soon please thanx guys how can i stop the rattelling
dang i've been drumming for about 3 years and i'm in eighth grade, and I'm supposedly good for my age and playing time. I'm nothing compared to this lol
WTF I have played drums for many years and I still have trouble putting this together! Some of us just suck and have to really work hard to do anything. Anyway, it's a challenge and that's the whole idea, I guess.
I'm really looking for something with that exact tone..
How many inches? If it's custom and/or insanely expensive, how should I go about getting a ride with that similar sound? Any key words or brands I should look into?
One thing I noticed with this fill is that it would be really cool to mod it from being a 16 note triplet form to a 9:2 rhythm (9 sixteenth notes per 2 quarter notes), and accent the drag triplets that are within the 9:2. Cool thing about doing that is that the tempo can be faster for the groove, and you won't be speeding too fast.
i just cant grab what to play, i keep playing it over and over, i thinks it my a d d or something. But i like how in one of your videos you explained what drum to hit one after another, i just cant follow for some reason and im getting so aggravated lol

its all good because the people talking shit about Randy arent getting paid like Randy to play drums so obviously theres a correlation there. "u totally suck"
How does hitting the bell constitute totally messing up? I hit it and it sounded cool, therefore I stopped and explained that you can try it on the bell. Not sure I understand your comment. RVP
Dude, why are you being a douche? I've just seen your video and think that you should really improve your timing and stop picking on proffesionals. Because terms "u fucking suck at drums" and "you totally messed up" could be EASILY used as comments under your video. People are just not as rude as you to use them.
If you guys don't have any thing nice to say, just don't say anything. Why do you feel you need to try and put down someone who is a drumming guru and has taught even seasoned drummers as myself some great stuff. Keep Rockin Randy
I believe it is RLK (x3) with the right hand going from accented snare to ride to hats when he plays it as a fill. The left hand notes are all grace notes. As the whole pattern is nine 16th note triplets long play it twice through and then RLKRLK (to make up the full 24 notes of a 16th note triplet bar). I hope this helps.

No... but they are a local company I do business with and I felt they deserve the plug. They did a great job on them and everyone is always asking my what kind of sound reinforcement I use. RVP
Sounds great bro, would have been nice if you could have slowed it down a tad more and said aloud what you are hitting on the triplet, IE: snare, BD, FT etc. I am still new to this so sorry for the bad terminology but is the pattern a 3 note pattern like 1-trip-let that is repeated 8 times or is it a 6 note pattern like 1-trip-let-and-trip-let that is repeated 4 times?
depends on which way you want to look at it, this particular fill is snare, hat, foot, ride, snare, foot, hat, snare, foot lol so yeah 3 notes played 8 times sounds good!!
Yup, but notice I left it on the video unlike other teachers that edit the crap out of their videos so they sound perfect. Know one is perfect. I'm not. RVP
Randy, this is the second new video in a row that I've had to turn my volume up all the way to hear. I have noticed I am not the only person with this problem. It would be great if you could turn it up a few db's.

Guys... it's a very simple pattern that is repeated. The sticking repeats itself over and over. I didn't think I would need to write out such an easy pattern. I also tried to play it really slow for you all. Bass Drum RL, Bass Drum RL, Bass Drum RL, Bass Drum RL.
