  • @ clonelmota i have hheared this song on television.. it gives me great courage thanks dear for uploading... i think there is also another version of this song sung by shankar mahadevan.... plz anyone upload this.....

  • Jana Gana Mana is the National Anthem of India. it should be sung with pride and vigour. It's not the vigour of winning a race...it is the pride that comes from inner strenght and love for the country. It should be sung in a manner that makes your heart burst with patriotism...not make you feel like weeping after every line! In my humble opinion every celebrated artist here sings it in an extremely sad and nostalgic way. While it has it moments in this mode...it was never intended to be!

  • @zubinb3 You have a point. But we need also to think differently. National Anthems, IMHO, need not be war cries. They can be things that extol the virtues and treasures and memories of a nation. Nationalism world over should make a paradigm shift 0 from narrow jingoistic tendencies to all embracing gloabal vision where every nation respects the individuality of every other nation and learns the vital need for interdependence amongst them.

  • @zubinb3 sir, what you is undoubtedly true for the european countries, not for us. In god save the queen, they pray to god to defeat her enemies, and conflict in their politics.

But India has never stood and will never stand for armed might, though we are a mighty power. Dont get me wrong!!

I understand your patriotism, but Indians have always taken the path of ahimsa and perhaps being nostalgic of our nation is our way of being patriotic.

    cheers!!

  • I just hope that all those who have seen this video will realize the Ideal of our hard-gained democracy.

    JAI HIND secular India.

  • Absolutely Magnificient. Brings tears into my eyes every time.

  • THIS IS SO AWESOME. INDIA <3

  • Great ! A wonderful, melodious and united effort by 39 reputed vocal ginants

of BHARAT . I just wish to add that we miss HEMANT here. He was a sincere

and meticulous follower of RABINDRA SANGEET and devoted his early years

    entirely to this sangeet segment.

  • @Tamilmothersrapekids Cool story bro.

  • where's LATA ji ?????

  • Very Nice.

  • @colonelmota becoz brother for us nationalism has become just a habit...

  • A New Life given to our National Anthem, Beautiful Narration and Amazing Rendition to Rabindranath Tagore's masterpiece gift to our Nation.... Victory to India Forever...Jaya He!!!

  • how cd they not take lata ji in this rendition, it is nice no doubt, but it is kid of unimainable wdout her..:(

  • well, it has been wrongly suggested that it was in praise of George V. It may seem so when only the one stanza recognized as our anthem is heard and analyzed. However, listen to the other stanzas and it will be obvious that he is addressing the ALMIGHTY, not a mere mortal.

  • The old version- Singing- rocks- this is not so good!

  • liked it very much but then was surprised when Usha Uthup was singing sindh instead of Vindhya....

  • Jan Gan man Me kaho Kaun Yeh bharat Bhagya Vdhata hai,

Ho Nat Mastak Guru Ravindra ,Gunn Jiske Gaata hai.

Have u ever realized or tried to know whom Guru Ravindra Nath Tagore was praising in this poem.... It was KING GEORGE- V

  • @thecop100 a small correction here, the song was written to welcome king george V, not to praise him.Basically the intention was to describe India to the british king in brief through the song !!

  • @coolbuddy432 Tagore himself has clarified that the song was not written to welcome the British king. Refer Wikipedia

  • what were the other languages it was rendered in? The first is Hindi..don't recognise the others (didn't sound like hindi)?

  • why sonu nigam!!!!!!!

  • @rksb93 Why not?

  • Wow, it is so heart warming and sung so beautifully. kudos to the producers and the singers!

  • wow wonderful and awsome

  • good mixing. But one person is missing.. Dr. KJ Yesudas... He is such a great singer than some of these peoples. This incident simply becaue of north Indian politics against south India.

  • @lijok1 I dont think thats the reason, else P Susheela n Nityashree wouldn't be. I feel they have ignored his contribustion to music.

  • BHARAT BHAGYA BIDHATA-BORN ON HINDU SOIL-

  • @anjum69 Jana(people) Gana(their communities) Mana( their minds/heart's) Adhinayaka ( <= nayak + adhi which means nayak/ leader of the things mentioned (people, their communities and heir hearts) Bharat bhagya bidhata : decider of bharat's fate.Thought to clarify in case you don't know of much of sanskrit or tatsama bengali .Please don't judge something without having the knowledge of the language used. The song clearly regards the decider of india's fate as "snehamaee tumi mata" in 1 stanza.

  • Jai Gurudev , Jai Netaji , Jai Lal Bal Pal , Jai Bhagat Singh, Jai C S Azad, Jai Shashtri Ji ................. thanks to the singers, Vande Matram !

  • Like this if you think TOI is doing a great job in Inida :)

  • i miss a few notable singers and musicians in this Ravi Shankar, Manna Dey, Lata Ji and Asha Ji of the old timers and AR Rehman and Shreya Ghosal from now

  • I admire the composer , the artists ,the musicians for the great job, we Indians are indebted to our Immortal Gurudev , this anthem brought tears in my eyes , Jai Hind !

  • Mera Bharat mahan...jai hind!!! love u india

  • yaajaam : chirasarathi : eternal charioteer

  • We salute the galaxy of all the pioneering artistes who have lend their bewitching voices to the ORIGINAL song, which gifted us the INDIANS the most respected and majical national anthem JANa GANa MANa.......Salutations and Aahee!

  • Nonetheless its a beautiful composition but the facts remains that this song was initially written to praise the then King & queen of England. The entire song gives many indications of the same & there is no doubt about it. Congress has always done there best in ruining this county & sorrowfully they still continue to do so. " Saare Janha Se Achha.. " should be our national anthem.

  • shan79a: Tagore would never refer to Bharatmata as " Bharat Bhagyavidhata". And if he wanted to sing about Bharatmata why wont he include the word Bharatmata. Forget the records. Just go through the song and the words and you will see how much more apt it is as a paean to King George V.. Mind you, King George V was the ruler of India at that time and there was nothing wrong in writing a paean to him . After all Congress was felicitating him.

  • @Utkalranjan ever wondered the word like 'chirsaarathi' mean?

  • frankikshpaladin1: ."Tagore was unaware of that.and three newspaper published the news." Really? They sang a Tagore song to welcome King George, in Kolkata, and they did not inform Tagore about it? Three newspaper published reports saying that a song written for the occasion by Tagore as sung, and Tagore still didn't know about it? Tagore who was such a prolific letter-writer never wrote a letter to the editor repudiating this?

  • @Utkalranjan do u feel tagore was like a nomal guy like u who always stayed at home ie calcutta?cheap peaple like u who want to to bash congress can go any certain stage to criticize souls like gandhi, tagore.how much literature did u read of tagore?even in english?I guess ZERO.dont ever try .its not ur brains capacity.try to find out a sane way to bash congress

and if u wanna try go read songs of 'song offering' where god portrayed as king of all kings

  • anthem is great BUT while singing the anthem we are suppose to pay respect by not moving and standing still....which was not shown in this video......

  • i am frm toronto canada!!!!!!!!! jai hind vande mataram

  • the song itself is so amazing.... its a pleasure to listen to it anytime...

  • those who dislike this are must be terrorist

  • Jai Hind... Love U INDIA

  • JAI HIND to all the NATION ..... Jaya Hey.... I m from DUBAI....I Proud to be an INDIAN....

  • Superbly composed rendition...felt goosebumps listening to it.

A special note of thanks to toi.

    JAI HIND

  • awesome

  • It was composed to welcome Geoege V to India ( though cleverly disguised to offer dual interpretation) and the words reflect the adulation to a lord- emperor and does not contain anything intrinsically patriotic. I have always felt uneasy about the words. Who is this lord and decider of India's destiny we are singing in praise of? What if I don't believe in any such external entity? Why not have a song which sings the praise of India itself? Like Saare Jahan Se Achha and Vande Mataram

  • @Utkalranjan,@bvssubhash dont utter something u dont know and misinformed.if u have interest and not any pakistani atleast do own research and search google 'jana gana mana complete'.fact is its not written for any king george but was sung for him in small greeting ceremony .Tagore was unaware of that.and three newspaper published the news.Tagore himself condemned about the fact later in his letter.just go to wikipedia site..we praise almighty god in this song

  • @Utkalranjan: I think the refrain is not to any external deity but to Bharat Mata (Mother India) herself, as our protector, etc. In some sense, you could say that Bharat Mata is being conceptually referred to as a deity, but it is not an external one. However, just in case this song is addressed to God, as an Indian you hopefully will not have a problem with it, as culturally, historically India has always been a spritual land, and it is that spirituality that is being celebrated in this song.

  • @shan79a This is truly REPULSIVE and DISGUSTING, and could only pass as being good only in a country with some incredibly backward people. "Worship", whether it be of a country or of a deity, as in the song, has no place in any national anthem. With worship, you show a total failure in achieving a scientific understanding of how things work. Only uninformed people believe in deities - please study plate tectonics, evolution, and the big bang in detail to learn of our and India's true origins.

  • hats off to the great Nobel laureate Shri Rabindranath Tagore... he is indeed one of the best poets born and nourished by Indian soil.....

  • it feels great to see my Guru Srabani Sen amidst all these stalwarts!

  • It is our duty to know the real meaning of our beloved National Anthem!

India's national anthem, Jana Gana Mana, was written by Rabindranath Tagore in honour of King George V and the Queen of England when they visited India in 1919.

To honour their visit Pandit Motilal Nehru had the five stanzas included, which are in praise of the King and Queen.

'Adhinayaka' and 'Bharata Bhagya Vidhta' here refer to King George V.

Dont take me wrong friends, but this is the truth!

  • @KDKAPOOR even Indian classical music is a very precious gift bestowed on Indian voices by India...so why not praise it by putting its best..?

  • @chiru

it seems u r not aware about our national anthem, nor about rabindranath...

  • @colonelmota, good job posting this, sir! but i'm afraid this is not the "new" national anthem, it is just the original poem by Rabindranath Tagore. please change the title of the video- it is inappropriate. again, thanks for posting the video in the first place.

  • @sidkul2k I heartily acknowledge your reply. I will change it ... thanx

  • @dannykaye85 danny ji, aap agar is adhhaye ke sab vicharon par nazar daley hein to aapko pataa chalega ke zyadaatar logon ko rashtrageet ka sahi matlab pataa nehi. • i am just speechless.. thanks for this video

  • @cniru : we shud learn to accept the beauty in everything. this song is neither derogatory nor demeaning our nation. so only fools will not like this.

  • Beautiful rendition of the National Anthem. Makes you proud to be a part of such an amazing nation. Happy Independence Day India!!! Jai Hind!! :)

  • Listening to our national anthem is an experience transcending all boundaries of time and place. What he wrote decades back still sparks that fire of patriotism and sheer pride of being an Indian. Recalling the dialogue from 'Rang De Basanti' : koi country perfect nahi hoti, use perfect banana padta hai.

So lets all join hands to make India a better place for everyone. Happy Independence day to all.

  • I'd say this is a beautifully rendered variation of the same theme - Love for our country being expressed in different ways by different people. Patriotism is not diminished by expressing it in different ways. It's been a long time since I saw the pride in one's own root expressed thus. The last one I saw was a Marathi Abhiman Geet - another Youtube expression of love for one's roots.

  • Awesome. Many people din't know the existance of additionl stanzas of poem.

It is quite mild and lacks in 'Josh' . Even though I liked by heart and accept it just to remind that our unity in diversity.

    Adishesh Hanasoge

  • I wept like a child watching this - not once but again and again ....

Thank you so much for uploading this.

  • We..Indians only acting.Dont want to save the nations from corruption even though see corruption in everyday news.Still we vote to the same political party. We are dare to hand over our govt, to Foregin born ruled management. Many working in govt give bribes and accept bribes too,but they act like pure when standing at a place where national anthem is played.Really ,really tell me how many who created and worked for this song really working for india..

  • @shivahandsome - Mr. Handsome Shiva, how much have u worked???

please share with us ur contribution to d nation....

  • @colonelmota Happy Independence Day!!! Thank You so much for this video - it is wonderful!!!!

I don't like to say this, esp today, but some people have a habit of finding fault with everything they see. This is the complete version of the Indian National Anthem (for those who don't know, the full version of the Indian National Anthem consists of 5 stanzas)

  • Awesome !!! Truly inspiring

  • always welcome new interpretations of such a marvelous poem and song... Good Job! May we keep reinventing ourselves with time....

  • I am proud to be an Indian....I live for my nation and i want dat every Indian should be dedicated completely towards India.......

  • Contd.

What is these peoples' problem they cannot even keep one song

untainted with their fake creativity. At most what could have

been done is literal translation to the provincial languages

keeping everything else intact. The lyrics of this fake anthem

only leads me to think - these people are happy with cowardice

under the guise of political correctness, and putting up with

cultural obliteration under the guise of globalization and pseudo-

    secularism.

  • Some have even before told that the Jana Gana Mana was a paean to

King George, but they probably do not understand Bengali, or Rabi

Thakur's level of control over language. As a Bengalee myself I

know it now, Rabi Thakur's songs have multiple meanings, the most

most pedestrian ones of which are the immediate literal ones.

  • So those who think this is a paean to British imperialism are just

wrong, and lack depth of thought in the ways these words of the

anthem can be construed. It is justifiably usable as the national

    anthem.

  • @cniru

How ? Will you kindly justify your opinion ?

  • @cniru sorry Sir... Hindi me batao....

2nd thing: Galti mat doondh... pehle bhi kaha maine : feel .karo..Bharat ki sundarta ko...Jo hindustan ka varnan kiya hai.....BHarat bagya vidata ...ahha kya line hai...

fell kar bahi.. aache se......dil se....Goose Bumps all over the body..... wet eyes....... ..

    Sir..

apke yeh populism, globalizing forces,pseudo-secularism, etc ghatak english words irrelevant hai..

    inki picture clear kijiye..

    Thank you..

    Happy Independence Day to You

    Jai HInd

  • @cniru This is not a "hodge-podge" u illiterate fool...these are the original four verses which were composed by Ravindranath Tagore...only the first verse is used as our anthem..so respect it..only if u feel u r an Indian though...by looking at the level of knowledge and attachment u have,I myself feel sad to think u r an Indian..

  • @cniru

nowhere on earth anybody is allowed to tinker with the national anthem, i am sorry, that too with government sponsorship...it's a shame for us, shame for govt. of india...

  • @protichhanno what crap r u talking .... this only includes all stanzas originally composed by Rabindranath Tagore and forgotten by alll.....so y do shame fellow indians and govt....

  • @cniru :

dear this is the actual and the complete national anthem which was written by RAVINDERNATH TAGORE.

What u know as NATIONAL ANTHEM is the only part of it.

hope u can understand the difference between them....

    JAI HIND..

  • @cniru You didnt like it, just dont listen to it...neither are we interested in your 'hodge-podge' sentences nor the bizzare reasons of your not liking this beautiful rendition.

  • i dunnknw who disliked this song........
