  • I like V8's as much as the next but V6's are no joke these days. And it will always have the advantage of being lighter than the 8 & practically matching it for horsepower.

  • this is my favorite car!!

  • this guy can't talk

  • its garbage my sister has 1 has been in ford dealer shop 2 times

  • No, but I do remember the Taurus S.H.O. just like you

slipped up and said at :58secs. Then later he speaks

of a Taurus Shogun, but there was none. There was

a Festiva Shogun but only 7 were made. I know this

doesn't bother most people but it drives me crazy.

Just say we have decided show is better marketing

than S.H.O. or better yet, give it a new name and get

some cue cards so you can say the same name more

    than once.

  • i hate automatic transmission plus i think you have more control of your car with a manual transmission

  • i hate automatic transmission plus i think you have more control of your car with a manual transmission

  • automatic transmission arrrgh...what a waste for a car like this

  • the sho is badass-

but wait till the bring the focus RS over from germany

    300hp 4cyl... fast as hell

  • The RS has the same 2.5 I-5 that's in the Volvo C30. Up-tuned, of course.

  • @quadzillaryder The RS has a 5 cylinder...

  • right i forgot...

  • wff... the original Taurus SHO with

Yamaha engine can beat the new model

    which is a too heavy.

  • Bad ratings. What a disappointment.

  • i wish they would just stop making taurus' i'm tired of working on this junk everyday. this new SHO is is fucking butt ugly. the ones in the 90's were total pieces of shit also.

  • Love the look. Love the real dual pipes. Love the front wheel drive base(goes great in the snow). Fuck that 6 cylinder shit. If you say high preformance make it a V8 all the way.

  • @hippie1093204 you have a point on the v8 perfomance but you got to admit that the v6 ecoboost is still awesome 365hp from a v6 plus 24+mpg i say its a winner

  • @dontknow95 eh nissan can give you 332 hp (350 from the Nismo 370z) from a 3.7 V6 with no turbo at all and it gets 26 MPG. I like the body style so I wanted so see what they're about but no thanks. They're was to heavy to be quick even with all that power only a 14.2 in the 1/4 is way weak. And 'ecoboost' or as commonly known by anyone but ford as light-pressure turbocharging has been around for decades already so stop trying sell old tech as something new.

  • @bmomoney22 nissan 370z have less torque..... only 270lb-ft haha.... vs 350lb-ft of SHO ....

  • Based off Front Wheel drive? (with all wheel drive available)

    barf

  • amen

  • More expensive, more power, slower, handles worse, longer braking distance, turbocharged and I am lost when comparing this to the Infiniti G37...G37 gets 26mpg on hwy and 21 city is the 25mpg he spoke of combined?

  • um- its cheaper than the g37- about 15g cheaper- not really that much slower- i highly doubt g37 gets 21 city-

  • I suppose the SHO is wildly more expensive in Canada then...

  • maybe-

5 us dollars is like 8 bucks in canada

  • Dude. It is a common occurrence for companies to "artificially" jack prices up on cars disproportionate to the exchange rate.

    $5US = $5.30 CDN btw.

37,770 starting US => 48,199 CDN starting price.

Conversion is just under 40G. See an 8G added on just for Canadians that "should" support US companies..???

  • how do you know the exact price?

ford really wouldnt make other countries pay that much more..

ford is pretty much the top seller in canada- so that may be a reason why the prices are higher-

the more you sell, the higher the price / less you sell the cheaper it is.

--BUT, ford is fighting hard in usa to sell- against gm and toyota.-

    $37,770 is $40,005 in canada.

you also have to figure in other fees

    like shipping, canada tax, etc.

so theres more variables you have to add in

  • you know what-

BUy THE G37- B/C PPL LIKE you WOULD RATHER MAKE FORD EMPLOYEES LOOSE THEIR JOBS and not be able to feed their families- i buy fords cuz i know the money is STAYING in this COUNTRY- im a real american and stand by american products- if you wanna buy nissian shit- go live in japan

  • Infiniti isn't made in Japan. I have no problem with Ford in fact I'm a big fan of what they are doing in the automotive industry. I'm an engineer and I see what happens 3-5 years ahead of what is in dealerships now and I'm quite impressed with Ford in the past TEN years.

You should realize that if I bought an Infiniti I'm also supporting American companies and employees - even Canadian ones. Bose, TRW, Visteon, Clarion, Dana, etc. are all American and supply G37 parts.

  • when u buy a foreign car- the money doesnt stay in this country- and that is why this country is going down hill-

yeah some money for the nuts/bolts/ acc. stuff is made in this country but when u buy a foreign owned car/ regardless if its made in this country- 75% of the doe is leavin this country.

u may be supporting them like 10% thats all-

even when u buy a ford- only 85% of the money stays in this country

cuz they building some engines/trannys in either mexico/or canada

  • Perhaps. Since Nissan is owned by renault though, some money ends up in France. But with three design studios in NA, with two of them being in the states I would be support less blue collar and more white collar Americans.

That is unfortunately a trend with modern capitalism, but that is a digression. I like the Ford Taurus as much as the Nissan Altima and you know what? Ten years ago I'd be shot if I said that because the Taurus was hideous!

  • the taurus was always a good car...

thats why they brought back the name-

it used to be the Ford 500-for 2 yrs but it didnt sell

-so they brought back the name- b/c americans know that it was a good car 25yrs ago.

and i see alot of them driving around today

and alot of americans 20yrs ago bought the taurus for a family car-

they have had new model taurus's but ford wasnt upgrading them or putting R&D into them and left them a basic car and the sales slipped alot .

  • this country is going downhill because were lazy, and make garbage products. not to mention cancer aka unions, and saving another 3rd world country every day.

  • actually ur totally wrong-

    WERE NOT Lazy- BUT Cheap

    WE make good products

The PROBLEM is MOST STUFF is made OVERSEAS b/c we are cheap-

we need to start making everything in this country again- thats why this country is going down- theres no manufacturing..

  • uhm unions??

unions are great- and we need more of them-

you obv. never been in a union-

    b/c unions,

    1. take care of you

    2. make companies pay you good

3.make companies have good working conditions for you

    4. wont get fired b/c of missing a day of work or something stupid

    5. pension

    6. never have to bust ur ass all day-

  • @quad- you just articulated exactly why a union is shit.

    1) you should take care of yourself

    2) you should be paid what you're worth, not for how long you've been there

    3) federal laws are in place for working standards and conditions

    4) should be fired if you're missing work or doing something stupid (teacher unions keep people on payroll after being proven to be a detriment to children)

    5) pensions began during the war and were a way to get people to work now and get paid later

    (cont)

  • ur an idiot- because you can work in a shit ass company- and no one can tell them how much they have to keep up on the place- yeah theirs laws- but thats not good enough-

and yeah- u get paid good in any union-

shit gm workers were starting out at 27/hr years ago-

    B/C when u have a FAMILY with KIDS -

    -working a regular day

-getting paid so you can support ur family

-benefits that cover ur whole family-

-pension so that you know when u retire you will have some income for ur loyality

  • I have NO DESIRE to have a pension. I would be embarrassed to have someone "taking care of" my finances and investments. When it goes bad, someone has to be blamed and it's easy to blame someone else. What union employees really want is to be a mindless drone rather than taking responsibility for themselves.

  • THATS a JOB TAKIN CARE OF YOU-

and not just a job where u are the slave and get shitted on

THATS WHY- alot of jobs are union

    and people want union jobs-

good pay-good benefits-pensions,etc..is what ppl want-

UD SHUT UR business DOWN B/C YOU DONT WANT UR EMPLOYEES TO HAVE A RIGHT TO BETER PAY, BETTER BENEFITS,

pretty much you dont want to pay out- u want to pcket more money

  • unions take care of the ppl who work now, and the ppl who put in 30 yrs b4

  • 6) you should bust your ass! if it's worth doing you should do it well and right and keep working at it until it is right.

I'd shut my business down for spite if my employees tried to go union. Unionized car companies lose money on nearly every car they produce!

Unions don't take care of you... they take from the ones working TODAY to pay those that worked yesterday.

You should be responsible for yourSELF

  • both of u are wrong- and stupid-

unions fight for the workers- to make it fair-

so if u were workin for someone for say 15yrs- and say u had to take a day off- and u get fired for that?

    15yrs for nothing?

who wants to bust their backs for 30yrs?

and yeah u do get fired if you do something stupid, or miss alot of days

    ur wrong about pensions-

b/c what are u gonna do after you retire?

atleast you get a paycheck every month to help pay bills- i made 24/hr not even full pay yet-

  • what are you gonna do when you retire? HOW ABOUT TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN FUCKING SELF.

You don't even know the history of unions and pensions OBVIOUSLY.

and you think everyone wants a union job? then why haven't I tried to get one? Why hasn't my husband tried to get one? I stay away from unions b/c nothing pisses me off more than working to support someone else or having someone tell me I have to make the same as the slack jaw loser that only SHOWS UP b/c he's been there xyz amount of time.

  • Really?! Because in Japan, Japanese car companies are ALL UNIONIZED! DITTO FOR EUROPE! APPARENTLY THIS MATTERS TO NORTH AMERICANS WHO ARE ONLY TOO PROUD TO BY FOREIGN AND BASH DOMESTIC CARS AND COVET U.S. ASSEMBLED NON UNION BUILT JAPANESE ONES!

  • the unions in japan are not structured like they are here. japanese people also work an average of 60 hours a week and the average apartment is around 250 square feet. If the US car companies worked people 60 hours a week and all they could afford is a 250 sq ft apartment where the kitchen doubles as a bedroom there would be upheaval!

EUROPE is on fire every other month... UNIONS not getting MORE.

the original premise of a union was good but it's been morphed into entitlement.

  • Semantic reply that didn't give a good answer for your hypocrisy tool! Fact is that they're ALL Union! Last time I checked the UAW gave away their benefits and pension conces. - are they 'getting more' too! Your a hypocrite and an idiot. I would bet that you would shut your face right up if you could have a good Union Job. I see a lot of substandard construction that is 90% of the time non- union! There is actually a benefit for everyone in having accountable, productive unions.

  • There's nothing in the WORLD that would make me want a union job. I do not want to give my money away to someone that's already retired. I do not want someone else doing the "investing" and "mismanaging" for me.. I can invest and mismanage my own money just fine.

an accountable productive union doesn't exist anymore. And there's nothing about my stand on unions that is hypocritical. Unions hold companies hostage 99% of the time. The UAW GAVE AWAY?

  • no, the UAW didn't GIVE away anything. If the car company was going out of business (remember the govt bail out and take over?) and it came down to .... $80 package with no job or $70 package WITH job, they did the smart and right thing to concede something.

  • And do you KNOW the definition of hypocrite or is it just a word you think has an effect on someone?

hypocrite:1 : a person who puts on a false appearance of virtue or religion

2 : a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings

I'm pretty sure you're not referring to religion. And I do not act in contradiction to my stated beliefs or feelings.

  • you are a hypocrite as you are slamming domestic cars for being 'union' built. Yet your insinuating euro or japanese cars or more worthy because some are 'assembled' in non union plants in the US! You've owned japanese and euro cars that were likely 'union' built. that make's you a hypocrite - WTF don't you get!? The UAW gave away TONS! Pull your head from your ass because that's where your talking from!

  • no jackass, I never "slammed" American cars. I said (if you can understand english) that my BMW is the best built care that I have driven and that is why I drive it. When America builds a car that feels like a BMW I'll happily buy it no matter WHO makes it. i don't NOT buy an American care BECAUSE of the unions. It is not impossible for a person to regard unions as hostage takers to business yet still purchase something made by one if the quality is there. In this case it is not.

  • And since you obviously have not paid much attention to this and just want to attack someone and make words' definitions moot, you should know that the reason I came to this channel is because I think the new taurus is a pretty hot looking car. I am going to test drive one and if I think it feels as good as or better than my BMW I will buy one.

I have never bought a car brand new in the first place! So it really doesn't matter what car I buy because the company doesn't benefit ANYWAY.

  • and 2009 UAW concessions were not HUGE in the first place! Oh... they lost some vacation and bonuses... they also got 55% stake in chrysler for it. And... how's chrysler doin now????

And ya know what? Too fucking bad on concessions. People take a drop in pay ALL over the world in order to keep a job. Sometimes it's what you have to do.

you've obviously never had to meet payroll.

  • I have owned TWO japanese casr in my life. I have owned a mustang, t-bird, 2 olds intrigues, 1 jetta, 1 rabbit, 2 cabriolets, 1 dodge shadow, 1 RX7, 1 hyundai, 1 dodge truck (still have it) and 1 BMW (still have it). Out of all those cars, the BMW is the one that feels the best to me. It's heavy, balanced, strong and though it is 10 years old is still nicer than my sister's brand new ford and my dad's brand new chevy.

When America makes a car that I love I'll buy it happily... 'til then? NO.

  • my god, I'm not a ford fan but I would love to have one of these

  • Interesting developments with Ford. The UAW owns 61% of General Motors. They just voted DOWN Ford's latest concessions whih would have put FOrd on equal footing with GM and Chrysler after their recent bankruptcy and labor negotiations.

So maybe the UAW is betting on their retirement fund instead of their day jobs...The better GM does (worse Ford does) the more valuable their retirement account...Gush, I hope no bolts fall off Ford cars?...Nice plan Obama! This will help the US OEMs...

  • ford never went bankrupt. they never filed bankruptcy- they are GAINING market share every quarter- gm cant say that

  • The best part is that the US gov't didn't shake an olive branch in Ford's direction for having the business sense and PROVING their success in the worst of times.

GO US GOV'T! Support mediocrity and punish success and innovation! SOB, the Americans are doing what the Canadians started fifty years ago - something about a plane...

  • This is my new dreamcar! Ford are my heroes!

  • I love this car and have been following it for a while. BUT I just saw a commercial for it on tv and they are pronouncing the SHO as 'show', which is the gayest shit i have ever heard in my life! S-H-O is so badass why would they say "show"...fuck

  • well, I agree with you on that one...IT's pronounced ESS ACH O...."SHOW" is so gay it makes me wanna puke...Why not call the GT the GUT?...Ford's Marketing people (the ones that are left) are so far out in the weeds that I don't think they know what a blue oval is...All the reviews for the ESS_ACH_O bragged about 0-60 in 5.2 secs...so what does Ford crack marketing team do? thay shoot a video against an Audi, and post it on Youtube, proving it only does a 6.02!...DERR! Fucking idiots.Fire'm all!

  • I Bet this car would look hot with the Performance Package and the Factory 20" wheels.

Ford's Cabin Tech is Superior, even after being out for a year it's still way ahead of the competition, Thanks Microsoft for helping to make Fords even Greater.

Ford's Quality and Creativity have gone way up in recent years.

  • superior cabin tech?...like the fake molded stitching in the door panels? how cutting (cost) edge. Hell, even my 2007 Honda Civic ($22K) has real stitching on the door panels...The more they say things change, the more they stay the same...Last time I saw blow-molded extruded fake stitching was on my mom's 1971 Torino...swing and a miss...how many strikes is this for the "new" Taurus? 4 or 5?

  • I just found out that Ford's JV squad engineers (This wasn't created by the SVT team) made a little "oops" on the Performance package...They didn't check the diameter of the 20" tires to see if they'd fit in the spare tire wheel well! Don't have a Flat tire while on vacation with a trunk full of golf clubs or luggage! To add insult to injury, if you buy the Perform. pack, they delete the std tire and only give you a donut!...I'm sure that was to save weight for better P/W ratios....derr Fail 3.0

  • Wait, your logic doesn't make sense... in order to have a tire that doesn't fit the storage well would mean that the tire size would be different which would call for a different axle mounting height, speedo/odo counter gear, and wheel well clearance zones.

  • Well, yes of course that is true that the change in diameter (and therefore circumference) would require a recalibrated speedo (and ABS). That is why I would be very willing to bet you all your money that any SHO ordered with the "performance" package would have it's own unique PCM program (flash). If you think about it, the "upgraded" SHO would HAVE to have it's own flash, because that same upgrade also replaces the rear drive gear which would require different shift points.

  • $45,000!!!!! Imagine what you could buy with that!

Five more thousand will get me a used Mercedes S500 from carmax.

I could buy an audi coupe. Or audie A4, A used BMW 7 series. A new 3series. A new Mercedes Class.

And numerous other racing sedans for a whole lot less.

  • i had 2 taurus and the transmission broke on both twice. piece of siht...

  • I love the Design look at the wheels and the interior Trim it DESTROYS AUDI AND BEEMER !!!!!!!!!!!!! LOOK AT THE WHEELS BODYWORK DESIGN ITS PERFECT.

  • uh...the wheels only LOOK good, actually, they are PAINTED, which means that in 6 months the brake pad dust will have worn off the nice shiny paint, and you'll be looking at raw unpolished aluminum....read a little why don't ya?

  • HAHAHA brake pad dust doesnt wear of paint

  • over time it certainly does...It's not just brake dust tho...the rims are designed to increase airflow over the brakes, and even clean air, is abrasive to paint (and even chrome) for that matter.

  • sho time? yea right, ugly ride

  • All you Toyota/Honda buyers love to flame a quality product from an american manufacturer because you are trying to justify your unpatriotic purchase. Now that all the unions are broken (no longer a living wage for auto workers) we now see everybody elses wages go into the tank too. Nice job!

  • turbos built in the Phillipines...so much for american made...I wonder what the sticker says about how much of this car was "made in the USa"?....

  • good luck with that price tag.

  • a twin turbo in a ford?! oh shit..still a piece of american..uhmm..doodoo..:D..imports BITCH!~

  • another high end unit in the Hertz rental fleet.

  • Its American so whats not to love about it!!

  • FINALLY!! Ford makes something that i would buy..

  • You Damn Right cause for the past Decade they made crap cars. Now Look :) and yea im a VW guy lol.I really wanna Drive that New Taurus. so much new Technology in it it has all the stuff or even more then some jap luxury sedans for which you gotta spend twice as much !!!! FINALLY I thought Ill never see american cars competing japs or German. damnnnn...

  • sadly, a few union retirees will probably buy this just so they can say they walk the talk, but I don't see that many monday night football fans running out to buy a car that still manages to get only 18 mpg in city driving...

  • ok Ford. Now make a Fusion with this twin turbo eco boost V6 and AWD and make it look sporty and you will be getting a whole new market of buyers.

  • bottom line! FORD SUCKS! i own a 94 toyota corolla with a 7afe engine with a single turbo and is running 302hp and my car doesnt weigh a ton. power-to-weight ratio baby. and i easily walk v8 mustangs and marauders

  • im sure you car is cool and all and i dont hate on japanese cars that people mod to be some what fast but i dont see to many cars from japan on american dragstrips that run in the 10's let alone 8/9 sec 1/4 times but i do see a lot of mustangs and camaro's running those times my ford is one of them with 528rwhp which equals about 600hp at the crank and it has been that way for 4 years. there is no japanese car that can do that as easy as my ford except the GTR and it cost 85k my mustang 28k

  • WTF are you talking about you are hating right now.

  • This car looks beautiful. Ford has their shit together and has their best line-up of vehicles in decades. Toyota is overrated, as well as Honda. Their styling looks pretty shitty bland now, they are getting lazy like American car companys in the '90's. The Camry is an ugly design. Period!

  • so because your car is cool ford sucks? your logic is kinda retarded.....speed does not indicate quality. if the only purpose of a car was to go as fast as possible we could all be driving tini little things with nothing but a huge engine and some tires. theres alot more to it than that. your corolla might be fast, but it doesnt compare to a new care from any maker. including ford. ford has some very nice products out right now. show some respect

  • nicely said bitch. i agree with ya that speed isnt everything

  • Fuck you , you rice patty eating fuck nut, the oval logo will outlast any car company out there!!!!

  • learn how to use the reply button...your post is just hanging out there not calling out whoever you were wanting to rant at...

"rice patty eating fuck nut?....rice is GROWN in paddys..not PATTYs...Maybe you meant rice CAKES?...

    Question for you corey:

What does the 2010 SHo have in common with marijuana?.

    .

    .

    .

they both get smoked at lights!

...I'm afraid to ask what a fuck nut is...

  • ... ford pwnes toyota

  • on what planet?

Toyota outsold Ford Cars by almost 3:2 ratio in the US so far this year....

Toyota sis it with less than half the dealerships too. THat means they paid less to advertise, thier cars AND Toyota had fewer incentive dollars they had to tie to their products. Ford is still trying to get to a positive cash flow situation, and trying to get $40K for this heap, is what it's all about...I don't think this economy will support that price in the volumes Ford needs...Incentives coming soon!

  • bottom line corollas are gay

  • GM engineer?? Ya whatever..??? GM designs have sucked a** since about 1977.....IdIoT!

  • Very nice AMERICAN CAR. Amazingly looks great.THANKS GM Engineer.

  • splain lucy...id the guy that designed this from GM?

  • i hope there sales are good knowing its not yamaha engine anymore :\

  • THat was one of the few selling points of the old SHOs...This is not a SHO, except in name. It is a Taurus SEL-X. The X standing for extras that will break on you and cost you thousands to repair.

The brakes on this thing are pathetic, and overheated on the first run, during the journalists test runs...They are not even ventilated...Just vanilla solid brake rotors...Can you say warpage? a 2 ton bohemoth needs better brakes than a normal sports car...derr!

  • wow. id buy the car because of the looks, but other than that i rather buy a 95 sho or 98. lol

  • very nice car BUT it has the pricetag of a LINCOLN not to mention that its based on the australian ford falcon F6

    dont believe me? watch this

    watch?v=DFXwkFhn_fs

the australian F6 Typhoon turbo intercooled

  • i would chose an audi S4 over this any dayy

  • Germans cars are fun, but I dont want to pay for their "unique" and complicated ways of doing things. I got a Scion tC, and it is reliable, great mileage, fun, and just cheap to maintain overall.

  • This is completely different than the F6.

The F6 has a 4.0L Mono-Turbo I6 which produces 420hp, is RWD, and is based on the Ford Orion Platform.

The Taurus SHO has a 3.5L Twin-Turbo V6 which produces 365hp, is AWD, and is based on the Ford D3 Platform.

  • Dude, this is a nice car!

  • Just noticed that Nissan is advertising on this video, with the slogan "Quality doesn't have to be boring"...I wonder if Ford dares to try to advertise in the Nissan Videos...?

  • This is the best Taurus "Ever"! Bar None! Since 1985 as an 86 model. Ford has finally done it's homework and came back a winner in a very big & unique way. Go Figure. Love It.

  • "Best Taurus ever ain't saying much....$38K is a joke for a car with the thin quality metrics that this thing has....3 year warranty won't attract ANY european cross-over customers...The Asians already spoke with their C4C loyalty numbers of around 90%...

Think about it...70% of all clunkers turned in were US big 3, and the biggest of all was the explor(d)er.

70% of those purchased were non big 3 makes. ...All C4C did was to highlight and accelerate the shift away from Union made crap.

  • I almost forgot about that part as far as price is concern but i was talking about the "SHO", not the base model starting at $24,000 ?. That is kind of steep for a "Bread & Butter Rental". Because when i bought my Taurus (Brand New) in 2001 i paid $19,254.22 (Grand Total). How did it jump that high within an 8 year period? Now that i look at it and done the math, It "is" sort of hi-priced for a car that's known to be on America's Rental fleets. Very Good Point My friend.

  • thanks...most ford folks here don't like my stance....totally understandable, since I think this car is not worth buying.

A minor point, the Basest of the Base Taurus vehicles lists for $25995, and with the $1000 rebate comes to roughly $25K. The price only makes sense when you compare it to Ford's other lineups. (Fusion excepted). All the comparable vehicles to this from Asia eat this car alive on a cost basis.

  • I'm trying to figure out how you got your numbers on C4C and union/non union made cars.

If you look at the list, 1/2 of the top ten cars purchased through C4C are union made cars: Ford Focus, Toyota Corolla, Ford Escape, Dodge Caliber, and Chevy Cobalt. All UAW built cars.

  • I was wrong. I was using the DOT figures which I just learned are wrong. The best selling cars were 2 full sized trucks and a crossover suv, according to Edmunds ans CNN.

btw, about the Corolla; straight from the UAW web...

Not all vehicles made in the United States or Canada are built by union-represented workers. The Toyota Corolla, for example, is made in the United States by UAW members, but the Canadian model is made in a nonunion plant and other models are imported from a third country.

  • SHO man is the best people dont know about SHO and one day i was going to work and this huyndai tiburon was reving it and he wanted to race so i did smoked him and at the next stop light he was "wat kind of engine you upgraded because people see a taurus and they think is a piece of shit but is not could smoke any ricer

  • I owned two SHO's - a 90 5 speed and a 94 AT. Both cars - the engines were incredible. I really loved the 5speed more - I had 175,000 miles with the original clutch. (May say more about the driver than the clutch, so my mechanic told me). Even that said, I could burn rubber in the first 3 gears. My top speed I ever drove it was 115 - for 5 miles - and it had PLENTY to give yet. (Yes, could call it stupid - it was me following another SHO following a Probe GT).

    $37K is a bit much 4 me.

  • I miss my 89 SHO. The engine was bulletproof, but the body had issues. On the other hand, I have a 96 Taurus with 198K and 97 Contour with 138K. Both have been VERY reliable and cheap to fix (hope the new SHO is the same)

  • GAY. i'd rather take an STI or EVO over this for POS any day. Oh and the new mustangs are retarded too, i see about 40 of them every f_cking day.

  • I move cars for Hertz, so I get the luxury of driving all makes and models.

You might want to argue with me, but I'm tellin' ya, that the Ford Vehicles are kicking ass! I know I drive 'em all! Focus is vastly superior to Accord and Civic. Fusion blows away Camry and Accord.

And with the new Taurus, I'd be scared, Lexus, Acura and you too beamer!

I'm not biased, just totally impressed! Ford has done their homework with the cars they are now putting out. Try one for yourself and see!

  • well im not going to speak about lexus and acura, but a 45k taurus is running in the same price range as 2010 audi s4's and 335xi which would put it to shame at anything.

  • I guess I don't understand your message. Are you saying the SHO will put the S4's and 335 XI to shame, or the other way around? Unfortunately, I don't get to drive many luxury cars for Hertz, once in a while an Acura or Towncar, about it. I'm hoping when the 2010 Taurus does come out I can log a lot of miles in it as I really like the style and features and I think it's the car I want to own. Not a SHO, out of my price range.

Would anyone here with a high end luxury car think about a SHO?

  • s4 would kill the sho.

and i own an a4 and i wouldnt consider one at all

  • You may be right, I don't know. I hope in the future I can drive more of the high end cars. We're kinda out in the middle of knowhere so the only time I get to drive one of the premium luxury cars is when a Platinum member requests one. They get anything they want with a few hour notice.

You wouldn't even give a SHO a try? If no, why not? I'm not trying to talk you into it. But I was pleasantly surprised when I drove them compared to the other makes, and compared to years past.

  • My mom got a volvo back when ford still owned them, just the lack of quality parts and budget interiors was enough to turn me away for good. I want my car to feel precise and firm and the germans do it best.

  • True German cars fit like a glove and drive superbly------ but like all things in life there is give and take.Bmw ;s are expensive to own once the warranty is up ---- so at best your costs need to be based on a 3 year lease. A 5 year old Ford is still reliable and inexpensive to repair.--- and the Higher performance motors are still running under-stressed. And they are improving the handling --- The Taurus has always has an independent rear end.Its just $10,000 over-priced

  • well my moms volvo which was built by ford has had far more problems than my audi that ive put 175k miles on....Well its good to see that theyve stepped it up from a live axle, still got aways to go to compete with the germans

  • I've purchased only Volvo's for my wife for the last ten years. We're on our third and they have been bulletproof. Without exception.

    Try changing the oil sometime.

  • Ya your right changing the oil will do wonders for the abs and airbag lights that dont turn off and the dealer not caring and the dime store interior can be easily upgraded if i ran synthetic......

  • Does it come in manual drive? And why they couldnt keep the yahmaha engine??!! Thats what made it unique

  • Anyone else wondering why they are pronouncing it "SHOW" now, when it used to be the "S. H. O." Just curious.

  • SuperHighOutput. idk why theyre saying "show" now

  • damn that engine cover is ugly as shit, the yamaha engines r so much better looking

  • check out jalopnik and search for SHOcrash....great pics of the completely mangled plastic front an drear, from a 10 mph-ish fender bender...

How can a car made out of plastic weigh so much?

  • nice!!!

do you know how long ive been waiting for this engine to come out???

i heard they were going to put a v6 twin turbo on the 6cyl mustang and a all new 5.0 on the 8cyl, coming soon i cant wait that shit will take on the ss camaro no prob and like always with a smaller engine

  • its all about durability with amercan cars you can drive and drive and drive i have not once heard a german car or jap car or itallian car or any forgein car that does associate with american car companies go more than 300k on a motor even if they did do regular maintenance and from an american car guy u should already know this. power hurts the cars american cars are doing more power without the hurt thats all i bet u at 130k or so that G- is goin to need a motor or trans

  • Youre right about the durability of American Iron----- Mostly due to the simplicity of their design -- and the engines always ran under-stressed.Germans and Japanese like to rev the crap out of theirs. However I must admit to having personally seen quite a few Honda Civics with over 350 000 Kilos on them --- with minimum maintenance and hardly a breakdown. But their still nothing but sardine cans with a wind up motor .Kinda embarrassing to be seen in one.I still like the Bimmers though.

  • well see thats right there 350000 kilos aint crap thats wut 210000 miles ppppssssshhhhh 4.6l crown vics and tbirds go a hell lot farther than that im tlking about 300000 miles on a little rice burner with rebuilt motors the way they drive them aint goin to last any longer than 50000 ive driven my car hard as all hell it has 150000 on it a 95 tbird 4.6l got it with 125000 from my grandma and she isnt the average grandma driver either but yeah just putting that across that 350000 miles not kilos

  • I like the fact that you can rip and still save a bit of gas. It's a good car to drive fast and save gas at the same time.

  • you all can suck it i had a sho and it beat alot of mustangs and alot of camaros before i wrapped it around the front of a bronco, i really reallly wanna get my hands on one of these

  • would love to see this engine in a mustang!

  • Comment removed

  • i dont like it

  • i love ford but these goons make an SHO but not a SVO? if they brought back something like the merkur it would kill. . .

  • You might be right. The Special Vehicles Team (SVT) was not assigned, nor did they work on this Taurus. It was the Taurus team that worked on this. It kind of makes you wonder what the SVT IS working on?...maybe something better?

I'd like to think that Ford has an even better car in the works, but doesn't want to completely kill sales of this SHO...Any one with insider scoop they want to divulge?

  • im sure u heard about the raptor right they are focused on that right now even though its almost done they can still make improvements

  • Now that the latest round of SHO test-drive articles have hit the streets, I don't expect to hear much from vdn992 and his compatriots arguing about how fast and billy bad-ass this car is gonna be...Kinda sad that Ford (their incompetent marketing team) oversold the SHo as a BMW 550i killer, and set all their loyal fans up for having egg on their face...

  • Problem with Ford is the same as all North American Manufacturers--------they always leave their cars short changed.BMW does not do that -- they charge you through the nose for every little bit of extra Hp. just check out the 3 series availability -- from a 323 priced like a Honda all the way to the Mighty M3 priced like a vette.American manufacturers should of stuck to cheap Hp and inexpensive cars. They forgot the rules of the scool-yard -- never fight a bigger guy on his own terms---

  • wow, if this isn't some sorry dude who has been brainwashed by the Europeans and Japs, I don't know who is.

  • dude--- I've owned more American cars than you;ve had the pleasure to see.Including a Taurus several Mustangs, a camaro 1 transam the list is too long .all I meant is that North American manufacturers in the last 20 years have always been outdone by the Japs and Germans.Notice the lack of a dual cluch automatic even as an option on the Shelby or any of the Dodge or Chevy;s.And why does the G-35 get 300 out of their V-6 and offer it in all wheel drive???/

  • I had a 1994 all white on white SHO!!!

  • not always about hp. there is always a car with more.... its about the whole package that's why bmw rocks!

  • I was excited when i heard the stats onthis car, but the dissapointed when I found out it was AWDand automatic. Was hoping for a six speed RWD sedan. But they had to grandpa it alittle and screw it up. Maybe even 5 spd FWD, like the older

  • Stole this off another blog:

What does the 2010 Ford Tuarus SHO have in common with Marijuana?

They both get smoked at lights!

  • So why the pine cone up the cooter when it comes to the SHO? Hell GM made the Impala SS a FWD V8.

  • What year are you talking about, and what was the base price of the car for that year...All the Impala SS cars I would even contemplate were RWD and had the Vette engine in them...I think the base on them back then was around $24K...for RWD, leather interior, and a vette V8...

  • Yep Chevy Impala should be rear wheel drive and a 425 Hp small block -- same as they have in the little Cadi --- but give it a nice shape like the 1968 fastback---- they would sell thousands to all the city cops and Highway patrol -- right now they're all driving 6 year old design Fords with 4.6 litre engines.

  • They have impala ss's now. They just shoehorned a tranversly mounted 5.3 L V-8 in the regular impala.

  • again from autoblog:

There's plenty of meat here to get worked up over, but there's just not enough flavor to slake our red-meat enthusiast side. What Ford has wrought with the SHO isn't really a sports sedan at all it's a 4-dr cruiser with sporty undertones. It's an "everything but the kitchen sink" approach to high performance. And while this (car) generates some pretty handsome numbers, it fails to inspire drivers to push harder, something that we desperately hoped it would do.

  • Ford's suspension tuners are among the best iii, but they aren't magicians, and they can't suspend the laws of physics. Maybe Dearborn's SVT team could've exacted some more ... out of the suspension (they were not a part of the SHO's development), but even that's a stretch. The bottom line is the SHO weighs more than a Grand Marquis (with 60% of the burden looming on the tires that steer) and combined with a front-biased all-wheel drive system, well... it's a recipe for push, not entertainment.

  • Not to overstate a point--- but this is a good car.If it only sold for $30,000 then I might consider it over the harsher riding Mustang. What the hell happened to the price of cars---- they're priced like houses except in a few years they are worth crap.If these car companies want to get back into business drop all the prices by half -- cut all the executive bonuses and ridiculous salaries -- pay the workers only wgat they are realy worth--- same as wallmart employees.

  • The base Taurus is 3 db quieter inside than a $47,000 acura tl, has more durable paint than a $70,000 lexus, and gets 28 mpg highway, for $27,000. It might be worth taking a closer look at. Shop around for invoice, or fleet bargains.

  • More durable paint than a Lexus? How do you know this? I never heard of any problems with Lexus paint? Is this another of Ford's answers to the unasked question, like the capless fuel filler.

But like I said before, The SHO mileage is so low it qualifies a s a clunker, and so maybe the capless fuel filler will prevent some owners from experiencing carpel tunnel syndrome while at the gas pumps...

  • They have at least two brand new videos on the tube, one showing a sound comparison and one showing a paint comparison, do this search

    2010 Ford Taurus Sound Check

    and

    2010 Ford Taurus Paint Quality

to view the comparo's i'm referirng to.

  • -find a single person to replace me. They tried to rehire me, formally at least 3 times, I told them to forget it. And this is what happened when they let go of one of the most productive people in the plant. On the very next UAW contract the company Froze everybody's wages, created 2 tier classifications, new hires are paid around $5 less per hour, and cut their Full Medical Benefits in Half. As a direct result of my departure. It couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of people.

  • Much of what you mentioned is not on the comaprably priced model that the Toyots website used. If I priced in all the features you listed, the SHO would be over 45K. So, trying to say a $45K Ford is better than a 29K Toyota is, well...justifiable. But for the money, I would take the Camry any day...

  • Mr blueskysiii, I was Math Science Valedictorian for 2 years, out scoring people going on to engineering school. I worked for an Aerospace Firm called, L3 communications Ocean Systems. I was a member of the UAW, and was on top of the Largest overtime equalization chart in the plant, containing some 35 People. I got there by doing the work nobody else would do or could do. And it was a blessing in disguise the Black Woman HR Director Fired me. Out of over 600 employee's they couldn't-

  • My workmanship was easily identifiable, and I was earning close to $65,000 annually, when the average man earns approx. $37,000.

You can bet it hurt the Company and the UAW membership.

    Truth is Stranger than Fiction.

And if you say "Whooopdeee Shit" then money doesn't mean anything to you.
