Its not scheduled to be demolished. As far as I've heard, Southern star amusement is buying it and clearing out brush, and rebuilding it. just what I've heard.

Hurricane Katrina was devastating and everything, but I can't be too sad to have seen this park get claimed by the storm. I have taken long-distance trips to major amusement parks being a thrill-seeker and all, but I don't think I would have had any desire to go to SFNO. Plus, it was located in the lower-ninth, and should have been located in the more-wealthy left side of the city.

Believe it or not, the entire park is STILL STANDING, the only ride salvaged was the Batman, the rest of the park is still standing and accessible pretty easily. It's incredibly eerie, but I strongly recommend you take at least one trip to the ghost town.

@MrSushiman101 it was smart for them to not go there. The Six Flags NO park, or even when it was Jazzland was never able to turn a profit and was doomed. Bad locations, not the greatest weather, not a HUGE (but yes a large ) town and generally not enough people who would go that far out of there way to go to Six Flags. I hate to say it but this park will never reopen. Six Flags knew it, NIck realized it after they got a tour of the park and SSA has not proven to have any money and is just talk.
