No way! ford Capris are a very popular car for drag racing in Australia,fit a small or big block V8,Ford 9inch diff,and auto and your away! Quickest in Australia is low seven seconds,some of the cars they use in Banger racing is good,just not Capris in my opinion,waste of a useful car.Other than that i dont mind banger racing.

it is held all over the country and the main tracks are arena essex, mildenhall in suffolk, aldershot, sheffield, ipswich, wimbledon, smallfield and a few more. you can get tickets on the door at nearly every meeting unless its a really big meeting. they are on most sundays.

That first song is "Ooh La La" by The Wiseguys. I remember back in the late 90's there was a music video of it on MTV and in it black and white footage of Banger racing was shown. Probably why the song was re-used here. Thing is I can't find that original video for life!

ok i've watched plenty of these banger races and other than just smashing into each other at high rates of speed,and destoring your car in one hit because they're not mid 70's american passenger cars, what is the stradegey behind it? is there big money in it or just the rush of being in a collision at 40 plus MPH.the only way i would do this race is with a ealy 60's "chrysler imperial" they are unstopable.

the strategy is to spin cars or ram cars in front of you out of the way so you win the race. then at the end the winner gets a trophy and all of the cars have a destruction derby to see who is last man standing :D its good fun.  i dont think theres big money in it but who cares? you can sell the car for scrap at the end after all

Tracks in order of first appearance; Birmingham, Sheffield (0.03) Paices Hill (0.06) Kings Lynn (0.09) Swaffham (0.13) Northampton (0.16) Smallfield (0.30) Standlake (0.36) Skegness (0.46) Horndean (4.35) Fleet (5.05) Arena Essex (6.45) All except Paices Hill are still running but a couple have changed a fair bit since this was filmed

It's amazing the Brits aren't killing each other in these races. This is hands down, some of the most brutal blind side and head on hits I have ever seen. Makes American Enduro racing look like the little leages. Apparently winning the race is secondary to completely demolishing your fellow driver's car if given the chance. This is an awesome video.

The cars have to be built to a certain spec. ie metal plate across drivers door and the 'H' frame rollbar. A lot of work goes into the cars to make them as safe as can be
