@miller434 yep! its totally sad and tradgic, how pastilong and stewart destroyed wvu football it such a short time.. and it will take holgresom years to get wvu back to its football powerhouse glory days. of 2003-2007 if he can gey it back at all? not having holiday as a recruiter anymore just simply kills wvu"s chances of landing star recruits and pat white type caliber players. but dont think wvu fans will miss their 70 yr. old cheerleader another minor bowl loss assures that.
@88DRocker1 Holgorson just brought in the best recruiter in the Big12,so we are fine on recruiting. Stewart decimated this program with all the attrition from those famous "top 25 recruiting classes", you know, Doc's? Tony Gibson recruited Pat White. OU is a great program with great history. It was an honor to play, and ultimately be able to beat them in a BCS Bowl. WVU was simply better on this night.
Why do teams have to constantly hate on each other? I am a WVU fan and..yes,it was a big win but that in no way diminishes the history of OU. Both schools have good programs and WVU has managed to join the elite over the past few seasons. We should respect each other and like we are halfway mature anyway.
devine intervention! he's gonna better than peterson in the NFL. this kid's got heart! speed! and more talent that anyone on the field at any given time! He will win the heisman in 2010 if he stays in school!!!!!!!!!
oklahoma fans will never get over this game. they thought they had their first bcs win. they thought it was going to be an easy win for ou over wvu. they were celebrating before the game even started. but they were crying when it was over and they are still crying because they still havent won a bcs bowl game...lol wvu was king shit that night.
@soonerstd This is true...but you also hold the shared title (with Ohio State) of the most consecutive BCS embarassments in recent years. So, ya know, I wouldn't be too cocky.

@soonerstd Actually, it doesn't bother me at all. OU has a proud history. It really must suck knowing that you're headed for a fall of Notre Dame proportions, though. Oh well, you'll always have "ten years ago", right?
@tauras88d We have won two BCS bowl games, dumb ass. The 2001 Orange Bowl, which was the national championship against Florida State. Also, we won the 2003 Rose Bowl against Washington State. However, we have lost our last 5 which is bad, but get your facts straight before you look stupid.
@tauras88d What the hell do you mean that OU "thought they had their first BCS win"? Oklahoma won the Rose Bowl in 2003 AND the Orange Bowl in 2001, both of which are BCS games. Dumbass.
You're even wrong about "the game that Oklahoma fans will never get over", because that honor belongs to the PREVIOUS year's Fiesta Bowl -- when Boise State's game-winning State of Liberty crushed the hearts and souls of Sooner fans worldwide.

i find it Extremely Difficult to believe a man his Size bench presses 400 pounds O_O either way, i hope the Jags get rid of Jones Drew and pick him up. i dont really Like Drew as our running back..
he is small but he will make the nfl. he wont be as dominate as in high school and college though he will have a difficult time becuz everyone is fast in the nfl so he wont have a speed effect in the nfl but his elusivness will help him
Yeah for running back in the NFL I think speed and elusiveness is a bigger factor than overall size. It does help but it isn't vital for a running back to have.
You could very well be right. Some guys just click and play better than guys they're similar too. Look at Emmitt Smith, nothing stands out with him physically, but he is arguably the best running back of all time. Sometimes, you can't just go by comparisons. How many 6'6 210 lb. basketball players were there?? Tons. How many that could play like Michael Jordan? None.
How many 5'6" NBA players have there been? Two? Size does tell us something. Because Noel Devine weighs 175 and NFL linebackers average 250 he can't be a featured back. Someone his size can't carry the ball 25 times per game versus NFL defenses and make it through the 16 game season. A comparison has been made to Maurice Jones Drew. However MJD weighs 35 pounds more than Devine and only carried the ball 12 times per game during the 2008 season.
bob u hatin. history is little indication of the future. the lil nigga is stronger than all those backs yall talking about. he would rip your foot off your ankle with a eye fake. i believe the lil nigga can carry it 15-20 times a NFL game. i hope the skins pick that bama up and get portis bum ass outta DC
History is a good indication of the future, that's the reason we study it. besides, you're supporting my point if you believe he can get 15-20 carries per game when I defined the workload of a features back around 25 carries per game. Turner, Peterson, Portis, and Forte all averages more than 20 carries per game last season. Featured backs are rare. Most backs in the NFL split carries and Devine will be no different.
Why is it up to you to decide what the workload of a feature running back is? Around 25 carries per game? None of the backs you mentioned averaged 25 a game, so don't skew the numbers... In fact, there wasn't a single back in the league last year that averaged 25 carries a game. Most starting backs average around 20, or even less sometimes. I don't know if he'll be splitting time or not, nor do I really care, but don't act like it's a science and you're a professor...
I didn't decide the workload of featured backs. I observed it. 10/11/09: Jamal Lewis 31 carries, Cedric Benson 27. 10/4/09: Glen Coffee 24, Rashard Mendenhall 29, Adrian Peterson 25, Clinton Portis 25.
It's funny you say that about science because I'm in school training to become a biology professor. If you'd like, I can also lecture you in cell compartmentalization, membrane structure and function, and protein transport.
I disagree. He is bigger in person than you think. He squats 600, and benches over 400.....I think you MIGHT be right, but we can't be sure that you're not wrong either. I however, think he will be a back that gets 20 TOUCHES a game.....like a Westbrook prototype....
Yes.... this is a quote from wikipedia. Not to mention I go to school with him, and several of the players validated it to me. Oh, and I was wrong.....he squats in the 500's....."Junior season
Entering his junior season, Devine was coveted for his summer workout results: a power clean of 300 pounds, a 500-pound squat, a bench of 435 lbs., a 38-inch vertical leap, a 10-foot-7 inch broad jump, and a 4.04-second pro agility drill time." There ya go man!
With all due respect I hope your wrong and you will swallow everything that you have said. You know a lot of people doubted peterson because of his shoulder injury and because he did not look all that fast, but look at him now. He is being called the best football player in the nfl. I hope Noel Devine will get that title in the next few years.....
What does Adrian Peterson have to do with Noel Devine anyway? My arguments against Devine have centered on his lack of NFL prototypical size. Peterson has ideal size, yet you say that people were doubting him anyway. If NFL talent evaluators had reservations about a product as refined as Adrian Peterson, what would they say about Devine?
I was saying the AP was doubted when he came out of college. I realize where you are coming from. Devine may not be the prototypical size, but hey who do you really like who do you think will have success at the next level?
He is good, but hopefully at the next level they do not just make him play fullback. He does not have the best hands in the world but he looks pretty powerful.
who gives a shit what the scouts say... they said MJD, chris johnson, darren sproles, steve slaton, barry sanders were to small also... he is 180 lbs ya that might seem small but he benches over 400... so a guy that weighs 180 and benches 400 is just as good as a 195 pound guy who can bench 350.... scouts nit pick to much, how about the fact that guy is insanely fast, has excellent balance, vision, ability to see the hole and has awesome accleration how about that mr scouty
A better comparison would be LT's backup. Why I cannot think of his name is beyond me..they're similar..Noel might be a step slower than him, but I think Noel is more agile. You never know how is NFL career will pan out though, you can pretty much guarantee that he'll be playing somewhere in the NFL.
Devine is too small to be a featured back in the NFL. A featured back gets approx. 25 carries per game. Sproles isn't a featured back, he's a situational player. Dunn averaged 12 carries per game in 2008. MJD also averaged 12 carries per game in 2008 and weighs 35 pounds more than Devine. Sanders's playing weight was 200 pounds. Devine got 15 carries per game during 2008 at West Virginia. What evidence do you have that he's capable of carrying the ball 25 times per game versus NFL defenses?
Fair arguement. But you can't just classify him as situational. You don't know either way. Dunn has been a work horse his whole career. Sproles WILL be the featured back after LT, SD has all ready said that. I do know that ND can bench over 400 lbs, and squat over 500, thats rediculous for a little guy, He's over 180 this yr btw.... He is def strong enough....
Well if you're going to put it like that, "you don't know either way" as well. No one can see the future, we're making projections here. Does he forecast as a situational player or a featured back? Based on Devine's college workload and the NFL workloads of similarly sized players, the evidence suggests that he will be splitting carries with another running back.
hey fffan don't forget Jamaal charles star in KC, Steve slaton, Chris johnson , lesean mccoy i can go on and on to... dipshits look at this kid he is amazing, 180 lbs and benches 435 wtf and squats 600 wake up idios go watch MCSHAY and drink your coffee bird brains haha
WVU really really REALLY misses Schmidt.... Don't think they knew exactly HOW important he was to them until the final game and this last season without him.
LOL Yeah, Lofton hit the 46 yd. line, spun around and his feet stuck in the ground for a moment. I'm sure if that were me, I'd just go ahead and just stand there :)
i watckhed this game and thinkin how in da fuCk dey didnt go 2 the national Championship and destroy lsu like they did them that was a good team they had that year
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
LSU would have beaten this team. The Tigers were finally healthy on defense, and they played in New Orleans. If WVU wanted their chance, they had to beat Pitt...
i politely disagree. LSU wasnt any better than Oklahoma. if West Vrginia played the calibur of football they played in this game against LSU, they'd come out on top.
tebow is wack dude, nothing special about him, he is a sissy, we say how he almost cried like a baby when they lost...people made such a big deal on how great that speech was when it really wasn't. he won't be very good in the pro's he lacks so much...regardless if he won the heisman or not.
being a PITT fan I absolutly hate WVU but this does make the Big East look good so I have to thank WVU for handling Oklahoma and brining dignity back to our conference, now what needs to happen this year is we need all six of our teams to win their bowl games 6-0 in bowl games would look pretty good
Im not bragging Im just telling the truth thatI think McCoy is better than Devine but that is my opinion but I think I made some valid points with the stats but dont get me wrong Devine is good but he is not on the same level as Barry Sanders and neither is McCoy
I am a relative of this amazing football star. Noel if you ever read this, I am James Devine's daughter. I don't live far from our Aunt Betty, Aunt Bonnie and our cousins here in St. Louis. We'er rooting for you and love you. RIP Noel Sr. and Moel Devine (they were twins).
lol ou does choke on dick in bowl games... bcs is dumb for giving them yet another bcs bid that they are gonna blow AGAIN... and noel devine isnt quite barry sanders lol
Hey I agree Devine has a lot of talent but McCoy has just as much talent as Devine does, but I do think it is a little premature to be comparing him to a RB like Barry Sanders
Lesean McCoy is better than Noel Devine two backyard Brawls and devine has done jackshit against PITT you do the math and see who the better back is yesterday McCoy 33 carries 183yds 2TDs Devine 12 carries 16yds 0TDs 07 Brawl McCoy 38 carries 148yds 0Tds Devine 7 carries 11yds 0Tds This year overall McCoy 1,308yds 20Tds Devine 1,138yds 3ds
Rest my case- Lesean Shady McCoy best PITT RB since Tony Dorsett
U know what he can be Barry Sanders like his jukes and cuts are deadly and hes strong as hell for a small back the kid can break tackles. His weight room numbers for his size are insane i knew kids that played football with him he put up 370 on bench and well over 400 on squats. Hes an insane combo of speed agility quickness and strength.
Hes amazing played his high school ball 4 minutes from my house saw alot of his games knew he was great, but also thought alot of was due to kids who play high school football in this part of florida are pathetic and the teams are pitiful. I was obviously wrong devine is amazing probably fastest player in the game between college and nfl. He will be a stud in the nfl think like what chris johnson is now but faster.
Holy shit, somebody has serious issues about reading comprehension. Go back and read what I've written before you come here and spew shit. Besides, supposedly I don't watch football and you're saying that Brown is only the 4th or the 5th best RB of all time? I don't think there's much to be said.
NB, Bobby Mitchell was Brown's backup in Cleveland, and only became a legit NFL player when he was traded to Washington.

Well son, I didn't say anything about 500lbs. You did how ever say he needs to get bigger. Lamont Brightful weights 160lbs at 5' 10" and he is doing just fine. Again, being good at football doesn't equal a certain weight. So stop "generalizing" people and hold your tongue. You are wrong, not STFU.
There is a rule you fucking moron. It's called the average weight and size of the average running back in the NFL. Here's a hint fucktard, very few are 170 pounds.
If he wants to produce big numbers in the NCAA, or go to the NFL, he does need to get bigger. I'm a mountaineer fan to, but that's just the way it is.
Well according to you, everyone in the NFL needs to be huge, which is not the case at all. I never said every player was like Barry Sanders. I just gave a very similar example and you had to pout. You must not be able to realize that football isn't 100% about size. So yea, good observation.
No? I never said every player in the NFL had be 500 pounds. But they are generally bigger than 165 pounds. If you think hes going to produce at 170 pounds in a league where the average weight at his position is between 210-and 240 then you're nuts. End of story.
Noel Devine is the closest thing to a Barry Sanders type runner Ive seen in a long time. Stop looking into football so much with crunching numbers and stats. If you can ball you can ball.
hummmm!.. wonder what bob stoops was saying to his coaches upstairs after that run?..probably something to the effect of WHAT THE HELL is going on here, is there anyway in the world we can stop this wv team. and of course the boys upstairs replied..nope sorry stoops we cant touch them, they are just too strong with blazzing speed, they are ripping us a new asshole and there is nothing we can do about it...lol WVU#1BABE
Pause from the 26 second mark to the 27 point mark...Devine has his hips flipped and hits break neck speed before the defenders in front of him can even adjust to the same direction. UNREAL.
BTW, who the hell is the jackass announcer to begin the clip? Turnovers turnovers turnovers, if you dont turn it over you are hard to beat even if the other team is a little better than you.??..i think losing by 20pts is pretty sound ass whooping. and i dont appreciate the OK bias. it was not a 3pt win

AD is 6'1, 220, and ran a 4.40 at the combine, Based on those measurables and his production in college, I don't know anyone who doubted him.
bobsacamano1 2 years ago
many people doubted him coming out of college because of his shoulder. you would be surprised...
jaydajay17 2 years ago
It's really easy to say that. It is, of course, harder to present evidence.
bobsacamano1 2 years ago
What does Adrian Peterson have to do with Noel Devine anyway? My arguments against Devine have centered on his lack of NFL prototypical size. Peterson has ideal size, yet you say that people were doubting him anyway. If NFL talent evaluators had reservations about a product as refined as Adrian Peterson, what would they say about Devine?
bobsacamano1 2 years ago
I was saying the AP was doubted when he came out of college. I realize where you are coming from. Devine may not be the prototypical size, but hey who do you really like who do you think will have success at the next level?
jaydajay17 2 years ago
I like Jonathan Dwyer from Georgia Tech.
bobsacamano1 2 years ago
He is good, but hopefully at the next level they do not just make him play fullback. He does not have the best hands in the world but he looks pretty powerful.
jaydajay17 2 years ago
who gives a shit what the scouts say... they said MJD, chris johnson, darren sproles, steve slaton, barry sanders were to small also... he is 180 lbs ya that might seem small but he benches over 400... so a guy that weighs 180 and benches 400 is just as good as a 195 pound guy who can bench 350.... scouts nit pick to much, how about the fact that guy is insanely fast, has excellent balance, vision, ability to see the hole and has awesome accleration how about that mr scouty
untouchablemvj1982 2 years ago
@jaydajay17 lol noel devine = undrafted
bobsacamano1 7 months ago
A better comparison would be LT's backup. Why I cannot think of his name is beyond me..they're similar..Noel might be a step slower than him, but I think Noel is more agile. You never know how is NFL career will pan out though, you can pretty much guarantee that he'll be playing somewhere in the NFL.
BigFlats01 2 years ago
Maurice Jones Drew weighs 35 pounds more than Noel Devine
bobsacamano1 2 years ago
and Im sure Devine will weigh alot more by his senior season.
Harrisononthesack 2 years ago
how much weight do you think he'll manage to put on in one year?
bobsacamano1 2 years ago
he's too small to be anything more than a situational player in the NFL.
bobsacamano1 2 years ago
ummmm Barry Sanders? Small. Warrick Dunn? Small. MJD? Small. Sproles? Small. Soon to be starter in San Diego. I could go on....
FFfan8 2 years ago
Devine is too small to be a featured back in the NFL. A featured back gets approx. 25 carries per game. Sproles isn't a featured back, he's a situational player. Dunn averaged 12 carries per game in 2008. MJD also averaged 12 carries per game in 2008 and weighs 35 pounds more than Devine. Sanders's playing weight was 200 pounds. Devine got 15 carries per game during 2008 at West Virginia. What evidence do you have that he's capable of carrying the ball 25 times per game versus NFL defenses?
bobsacamano1 2 years ago
Fair arguement. But you can't just classify him as situational. You don't know either way. Dunn has been a work horse his whole career. Sproles WILL be the featured back after LT, SD has all ready said that. I do know that ND can bench over 400 lbs, and squat over 500, thats rediculous for a little guy, He's over 180 this yr btw.... He is def strong enough....
FFfan8 2 years ago
Well if you're going to put it like that, "you don't know either way" as well. No one can see the future, we're making projections here. Does he forecast as a situational player or a featured back? Based on Devine's college workload and the NFL workloads of similarly sized players, the evidence suggests that he will be splitting carries with another running back.
bobsacamano1 2 years ago
hey fffan don't forget Jamaal charles star in KC, Steve slaton, Chris johnson , lesean mccoy i can go on and on to... dipshits look at this kid he is amazing, 180 lbs and benches 435 wtf and squats 600 wake up idios go watch MCSHAY and drink your coffee bird brains haha

If you watch the timer, he goes from the WVU 47 to the goal line in 5 seconds, in full pads no less. When he saw the open field he just exploded.

Big things come in small packages. Future Heisman contender right here. That is if money isn't thrown in his face!!

WVU really really REALLY misses Schmidt.... Don't think they knew exactly HOW important he was to them until the final game and this last season without him.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
LSU would have beaten this team. The Tigers were finally healthy on defense, and they played in New Orleans. If WVU wanted their chance, they had to beat Pitt...
dabbott14 3 years ago
tru but they had a bad play caller that underestimated a hungry team
ScKid15 3 years ago
i politely disagree. LSU wasnt any better than Oklahoma. if West Vrginia played the calibur of football they played in this game against LSU, they'd come out on top.
Ted4NYY13 3 years ago
u mean like the georgia team that beat lsu and got destroyed by wvu or georgia tech maybe auburn oh thats right they got destroyed 2
venommusic18 2 years ago
Ok, but LSU got two free chances after they lost to Kentucky AND unranked Arkansas.

being a PITT fan I absolutly hate WVU but this does make the Big East look good so I have to thank WVU for handling Oklahoma and brining dignity back to our conference, now what needs to happen this year is we need all six of our teams to win their bowl games 6-0 in bowl games would look pretty good
PENS68 3 years ago
Im not bragging Im just telling the truth thatI think McCoy is better than Devine but that is my opinion but I think I made some valid points with the stats but dont get me wrong Devine is good but he is not on the same level as Barry Sanders and neither is McCoy

nickgators 3 years ago 2
Hey I agree Devine has a lot of talent but McCoy has just as much talent as Devine does, but I do think it is a little premature to be comparing him to a RB like Barry Sanders
PENS68 3 years ago
Lesean McCoy is better than Noel Devine two backyard Brawls and devine has done jackshit against PITT you do the math and see who the better back is yesterday McCoy 33 carries 183yds 2TDs Devine 12 carries 16yds 0TDs 07 Brawl McCoy 38 carries 148yds 0Tds Devine 7 carries 11yds 0Tds This year overall McCoy 1,308yds 20Tds Devine 1,138yds 3ds
Rest my case- Lesean Shady McCoy best PITT RB since Tony Dorsett
PENS68 3 years ago
Yeah Lesean Shady McCoy is the best Pitt Rb in a long time.
Yes he is better when the two teams play
But no he is not more talented and very few as in 2-3 other college rb are as talented as Noel Devine.

Is is me, or has OU become OSU against other BCS opponents?
sdbsingle1 3 years ago 2
U know what he can be Barry Sanders like his jukes and cuts are deadly and hes strong as hell for a small back the kid can break tackles. His weight room numbers for his size are insane i knew kids that played football with him he put up 370 on bench and well over 400 on squats. Hes an insane combo of speed agility quickness and strength.
zr1cvette 3 years ago

SplitSpades11 3 years ago
Well son, I didn't say anything about 500lbs. You did how ever say he needs to get bigger. Lamont Brightful weights 160lbs at 5' 10" and he is doing just fine. Again, being good at football doesn't equal a certain weight. So stop "generalizing" people and hold your tongue. You are wrong, not STFU.
anthonyboone 3 years ago
Moron, you named one player at 160 pounds. That's the exception, not the rule. Learn then difference. SHUT UP AND GET A FUCKING CLUE.
benpg 3 years ago
There is no "Rule" to someone's weight in football you jackass. Get the fuck out of here, you don't know a damn thing.
anthonyboone 3 years ago
There is a rule you fucking moron. It's called the average weight and size of the average running back in the NFL. Here's a hint fucktard, very few are 170 pounds.
benpg 3 years ago
Actually there is no "rule" that would be discrimination. Very few... ok... so that means its still possible so suck my ass, while I fart. Bitch.
anthonyboone 3 years ago
yea bitch go Noel Devine show this bitch up lol ^^!
droplant 3 years ago
He benches 350 and has a 43 inch vertical. I dont think he needs to get bigger. Not his fault he is short. Dude is sick.
tlm2151 3 years ago
If he wants to produce big numbers in the NCAA, or go to the NFL, he does need to get bigger. I'm a mountaineer fan to, but that's just the way it is.
benpg 3 years ago
Yea, like Barry Sanders... He needed to get bigger too (Sarcasm)
anthonyboone 3 years ago
Yeah, because every player who goes to the NFL is just like Barry Sanders. Brilliant observation.
benpg 3 years ago
Well according to you, everyone in the NFL needs to be huge, which is not the case at all. I never said every player was like Barry Sanders. I just gave a very similar example and you had to pout. You must not be able to realize that football isn't 100% about size. So yea, good observation.
anthonyboone 3 years ago
No? I never said every player in the NFL had be 500 pounds. But they are generally bigger than 165 pounds. If you think hes going to produce at 170 pounds in a league where the average weight at his position is between 210-and 240 then you're nuts. End of story.
benpg 3 years ago
Noel Devine is the closest thing to a Barry Sanders type runner Ive seen in a long time. Stop looking into football so much with crunching numbers and stats. If you can ball you can ball.

18kendricreed 3 years ago
Pause from the 26 second mark to the 27 point mark...Devine has his hips flipped and hits break neck speed before the defenders in front of him can even adjust to the same direction. UNREAL.
BTW, who the hell is the jackass announcer to begin the clip? Turnovers turnovers turnovers, if you dont turn it over you are hard to beat even if the other team is a little better than you.??..i think losing by 20pts is pretty sound ass whooping. and i dont appreciate the OK bias. it was not a 3pt win
