FOX UNDERCOVER NEWS: Omg!!! How dare people have fun and be happy, enjoying their one and only short lives that they have to live!!! Shame on them! They should be restricted and miserable like the rest of us!!
@gregs76 oldschool head here. Trust man among most of which are cookie cutter edm events nowadays not worthy of being called a rave there is one good one every once in awhile. I went out to a rave called back to the future a month or 2 ago in this warehouse in DC and it felt like I flashed back 15 years when I was just sneaking into parties!
Ahh those were the days! Todays scene has lost the true vibe of the rave scene. All that people are interested in now, is rolling. Long gone are the days when the music is what first attracted the newcomers. NOw the first time rave goer is interested in the drugs and not the music. Back then the music came first. Todays scene is missing that true PLUR atmosphere.
@georgemcurious what r u talking about, the drugs were always apart of it... PLUR is still alive, because I'm still here ha ha. we're all just a bunch of electronic hippies!
LOL they threw us off the tops of those Tonkas. I remember DJ Mindcontroller spinning "Shining Down on Me" and thinking that it was one of the best nights of my life. At 16, this was the place for me to be,and changed me for always. The rave scene was the best back then, PLUR seemed real and the music was great. Gadget, Candyflipper, Capt. Crazee, Funn-E Boy, Leggo, Bonkers, the Cowboy, Playful, Sonic, Sparkles, Jackie, and all those kids.... <3 to you all for giving me awesome memories. HTID
NO Armageddon was 1 of the WORST raves ever.It was @ a beautiful outdoor art venue. They had a beer zone where you buy&drink beer, which back then was IDIOTIC!!They totally trashed that venue&never allowed another"rave"there. This was a turning point in the scene,no more new altruism called PLUR,which became something laughed at.This was really the end of the 1st true UNDERGROUND rave scene. It then all turned into making MONEY."For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil"Evolve:PLUR->JESUS
Rave music and events in the 90's look kinda lame compared to the 20th century, sorry if I'm offending anyone but I think the best raves were from 2003-2006. Don't get me wrong though there were lots of good things about the 90's, I also realize that raves were just getting started around the time too.
@Blindmanstaring Its somewhat true what you say. The music was better in post 2000, but that's what happens when the music evolves and DJ's challenge themselves to make better music. But that said, the raves of the 1990's were COMPLETELY wild, the cops, and the media never caught on. People were rolling and partying right so openly back then. The scene was more costumes with less of the posh stuck up, I've got money attitude you see today. And tickets cost ALOT less back then.
WHAT? The parties that happened in LA in the early and mid 90's cannot even compare to what happened in 2003! That era can never be recaptured, ever. Parties back then were so much about location also, something you just didn't get in the 00's because of law enforcement, media, and irresponsibility IMO. I think this was the first time Sculptureland was used for a party? Anyone remember Stargate in 95 at the Kaiser Steel Mill in Fontana? Once in a lifetime without a doubt.
I could not have said it better myself. It was disappointing when the anti-rave laws were passed. What Blindmanstaring needs to realize is they were passed because of how indescribably crazy the 90's parties were. I still have sticking parties at my house on occasion in remembrance of them.
I was there! What an amazing one it was. I also went to another Armageddon some time before that which was at the Orange Show grounds in San Bernardino.
dang i remember this party, got there like 11am till like 9 the next morning, alotta hippies there during the day but soon as night fell the party started, good timez, when the real parties where happening
its funny to here the news lady talk about the ravers, and has no clue of what anything is. the pacifiers, the surgical masks, colorful gear hahahaha. 3 day party for 25 dollars,. god i miss those
God DAMN.... That was my decade of dance music. I loved how everyone was just having a blast, rolling all openly, happily without guilt. Nowadays its all about the posh look, and if people see you with any lollipop or surgical mask, they kick you out. The kids these days are all about the image and not about the music anymore. But at least I was lucky enough to be part of that great time of PLUR
Haha, I ate some of the craziest shrooms this night, and I just remember starring at the Pure Acid booth for about an hour. I also snuck in some fireworks in my tent, and I lit a stupid little fountain off in front of that lake, and everyone started cheering like it was a fu@king Disneyland display or something! Everyone must have been tripping as hard as I was. When the police helicopters came, we all thought this was a bust, but we rolled out of here at about 9am. Perfect.
Man..........~!~!~!~! I remember goin' to that rave.....got there at about 9p.m. and didnt leave until about 7a.m or so..... i can recall that nite.....when rvain out to i think it was either dj tron or dj delta 9 in the hardcore area when the news and cops were flyin over head with our middle fingers giving the cali salute .....is when shortly after is when they closed down the room...damn~!~!~! walked around... AND LOW AND BHOLD FOUND THA JUNGLE.. CUZ I AM A HARDCOREJUNGLIST
hhhmmm when the hardcore scene was strong and good, I think it was delta 9, Ron D Core and Omar Santana (who didn't show up I think), in the hardcore stage, I miss the old school scene,,, ugghh I have to go to bed now I so I can be up early and continue my routine as an office slave; but still, hardcore will never die!
That was my last rave. I knew something was off that night. Just had a weird vibe... later found out I was pregnant... some things just don't mix. LOL BTW anyone else rememebr when they shut off the sound for a while "Complaints from Bob Hope that it was too loud and keeping him up" ... I miss those days with great music, good friends, and no responsibilities...
That was my first rave also, I get chills watching this stuff! This along with Jujubeats (santas village) and Willy Wonka were so much fun. I used to know the girl @ 1:24 , she was a cokehead stripper but was still kinda cool. I think that guy at 1:11 broke into all those cars that night.
Did you ever hear about Carnaval? It was at the Alexandria Hotel on 5th and Spring in Downtown L.A.// There was also this one rave in Glendale called "foam fest 98" . During this time the only rave scene I knew of was going to the Arena in Hollywood on Friday nights. But as soon as GOVENTURES took over I went to every rave at the Sports arena/ L.A. Colliseum from 2000 till Together as one 2005/2006. I also partied many times at the ORION in 2001-2002. Great Memories !W/B!
U know I hope for the sake of the youth today that rave culture makes a comes back. Kids today need this instead of the coroprate crap they are being fed today.
So were all these people like mostly in their 20's ? Wow the rave scene was so awesome before I even knew about it. I do remember seeing a lot of Flyers for parties when I went to Glendale High circa 1995-1997.
Wow I wish I had went to that rave. However I was only 16 at the time. My rave Glory days were from 1999 to 2002 . But I remember going to The Arena in Hollywood in 1997 , at that time that was a Rave scene to me. Saturday nights at the Arena in 1998 was Definetly a Rave.
That party was pretty tight. It was on July 4th, at sculptureland right? I still don't understand how anyone could have gone in that "pool" though, even if it was 110º.
I really hope that one day there is a website like youtube where original rave footage is uploaded. It would be great to have one central database of rave footage organized according to state and year.
