Hey Rafa is right man you posted this have some respect for the artist and th fan and label it right. other wise you look like an asss in front of Daniel fans which will be 100 % of your audience with this vid
It's just that with this video, people can think that You Hurt Me is on Hi, How Ae You, which is wrong. The song is typical of the Daniel Johnston second period, and Hi, How Are You is a tape typical from the 1st period, when DJ recorded himself at home
@rafaelmadferit Technically there are 4 Daniel Johnston periods. 1)West Virginia Period(Songs of Pain thru Lost Recordings II) 2)Austin Texas Period(Yip Jump through Merry Christmas) 3)It's Spooky thru Fun Period 4)Rejected Unknown to present period
OK then where do you put 1990? Why It's Spooky and Fun are in the same "period" (Fun was recorded on a major, Spooky with Jad Fair at his home...)? You could also put a division between Yip/Jump and what follows as Daniel start using guitar.. Also Continued Story is different cause it was recorded with a band therefore the sound is quite different..
What I wanted to say is just that Hi, How Are You and this song are from very different period and musical style
@rafaelmadferit Well The third period is the "other people recording daniel johnston" period. From 1988-1994, he didn't make home recordings, instead collab with Jad Fair, and then Kramer for 1990, and then Paul Leary for Fun, so I go ahead and group those 3 together even though they are very different records they were back to back(over 6 years though). Yeah the sound for Continued Story is different but I still put it in the 2nd Period, the Austin Texas period, because it's from the same time.
@rafaelmadferit You can totally always tell by what instrument hes playing and how good the quality is what time period he wrote something your right. And he was obviously older when this came out you can hear it in his voice and that audio quality is sooo professional
@rafaelmadferit I imagine the person who uploaded this knows what you're saying but the image is iconic so he probably used it for that reason. Its magnetized for clicks towards those who appreciate Great Music!

Melody is kind of close to The Replacements- Andronygues... Whatever, the dischord makes it sound more tragic here.

This melody sounds so familiar?

@theboognish I left out Artistic Vice, my favorite DJ record ever, as another of the third period of "recording with other people" late 80's-mid 90s.
theboognish 10 months ago
@rafaelmadferit but oh yeah, this song is totally a different period, if not a different daniel altogether then the hi how are you stuff
