@TheChaiTeaLatte Yes, it is true. Strength training is now a vital part of a dancers training. This is what dancers in the top ballet companies around the world do. It is ballet specific strength training of course not "weight lifting."
I have been doing taekwondo for 7 seven years. I can do full split on the ground. even more than 180 degree between two chair but when it comes to hold my leg in the air, I am unable to exceed 90 degree. Could someone help me about that? How you ballet dancer do this? Could you give me some advanced training tips for this purpose?
@ddenizmer it's not flexibility that matters.. but strength. yes flexibility helps too but what's ideal is strength. I'm a ballet dancer but I'm not flexible (I can't even do splits!) but I managed to hold my legs in 90 degrees . do lots of plie exercises, releves, tendus, glisses and battements. they help alot! just seek each of these words in youtube and practice at home :)
@1970WasntAllBad You should feel this a tad bit in the lower back. Perhaps you are bending too much at the waist though. You want to make sure that you are standing tall on the supporting leg and pulling up through the abdominals. This will keep you from "crunching" the back.
Ballet has been helping me with a lot. So I've been taking it pretty religiously. I'm going to try this out right now. I'm going to try this pretty regularly, along with a lot of your other video lessons. Yes, I'm going to start taking classes from you.
I've been doing ballet since... well, let's see. How, it's been just over a decade now. You were a professional ballerina? Are you still?
@xPorcelainLolitax I use these exercises with my San Diego personal training clients to slim their legs. These exercises should not thicken your legs as I replied in the previous posts.

I have skinny legs... will this thicken them?
HIMnHER666 1 year ago
@HIMnHER666 This will not thicken your legs. It will, however tone and strengthen your existing lean body.
