It's like when there use to be a crap load of undead rogues (most are now belves). Also a lot of people race changed to Horde while at the same time still hating the faction which caused a LOT of problems.

Culturaly speaking the "white" elves have separated into 2 diferent groups.

The Sin'dorei, wich is the blood elves (sin'dorei meaning children of blood in thalassian) and the Quel'dorei (noble children).

the Quel'dorei are nothing more than a bunch of boot-lickers who still kiss the feet of the alliance even after they abandoned them to die on the third war, and later sentenced them to death at the hands of garithos.

the orders may have been not to ally with the naga, but when the choise is between follow orders and die (for a stupid reason too as garithos could had sent some resources) or disobey orders and live, I think the option is easy.

these are the elves who chose to turn their backs to silvermoon, and their heritage, their culture, their people and become second-class citizens of the same alliance who sentenced them to death
