I have the same exhaust on my 1954 Chevy. it's attached to a supercharged 454 and sounds like heaven. I love to annoy the rich and fancy neighbors with it and they one all signed a petition for me to get rid of it! I started it up and threw the paper into the fan (not my best idea) they all hate me!

@guineapig41494 there not the best tire for on the road, but didnt wear to bad on my little light tacoma. i had toyo open countrys on my z71 and they are very good on the road but expensive. all depends on if you got a heavy foot. i know every time you gas it, it eats the rubber quick.

@91CTD 96 is the first year of vortec. and you can get a hypertech programmer for a TBI

@kaleb011 No you can't they only make PROM chips for TBI's that you insert into the computer, and they're a waste of money from hypertech or any of them. TBICHIPS or FASTCHIPS make custom programmed chips for the tbi trucks just to fit your application. His truck is either a tBI with a hypertech Prom chip or it's a 96 Vortec truck and he just typed the year in wrong.

@91CTD hum thats kinda of funny cause i had a 1993 chevy z71 1500 350 TBI and i put a super chip programmer on it that plugged in to the ODB1 connection and it askes you a couple of questions just like the hypertech does for the vortex engines

@kaleb011 Yea superchips makes the things you plug into your OBD1 port to calculate for tire size or gear change, on the 92-94 trucks.

I custom burn my own chips from moates.nett for my 91 tbi 350 truck, you'd think i'd know that you can't reprogram your computer PROM chip from your friggin obd1 port....

@91CTD it does the shift points too. so therefore you are recalibrating your computer which with the right calibration of the shift point and tire size you could see a difference in performance and gas milage. You might go up 5 or a little more in horse power and torque at the rear wheels. which that is all you really get with the newer ODBII type programmers.

the only way a straight pipe would sound nice is when you have longtube headers and a BIG cam. i do hate the sound of straight pipe too cause it sounds like shit but it would be bad ass to have exhaust cutouts so you could have a straight pipe to disturb the piece at night haha

A lot of em do, it's not bad unless u burn a quart every 500 miles, lol. I'd check the oil dipstick for any coolant residue, and check the radiator fluid and make sure oil isn't mixing. long as it's not burnin that bad, than no fear. I have a 95 that burns about a half court every thousand miles, it's just the old 350.. i love the engine though
