  • @nicksuprabravesfan

Its funny you say that, the first cash for clunkers I saw was for a turbo'd supra, late 90's. It was sad

  • You see what a WASTE this program is? My Alcoholic, Crack Head neighbors, who are Already on EVERY kind of Gov’t Handout could’ve used a NICE, BIG CLUNKER to Drive around in so They’d be SAFE when they run into something. I’m SURPRISED the Pres. Didn’t think of this; These are His “Peeps”.

  • DID YOU KNOW MOST OF ALL THE CAR DEALERSHIPS ACROSS THE US KEPT THE REAL GOOD OLDER AMERICAN CARS 80'S FULLSIZE EASY TO FIX CARS AND PUT ANOTHER NEW ENGINE IN BECAUSE THEY CAN KEEP THEM DRIVE THEM WITH DEALER PLATES !! THE DEALER PLATES COVER THE INSURANCE REGISTRATION AND TITLE !! LMAO ANY DEALER COULD DRIVE A STOLEN CAR OR ANY CAR WITHOUT ANY PAPERS IF THE HAVE THE DEALER PLATE HAHA OBAMA FUCK !

  • @midnitesquirldog Probably not. That's not even a good idea financially.

  • At 1:26.... Obama should lick that shit up with his tongue and ingest it!

  • @GayUOPXBoy10 AMEN TO THAT ONE! After all, baboons will lick up anything if given the chance!

  • Well one things for sure. Doesn't matter if your a Ford,Chevy,Dodge, Nissan,Toyota,Honda, whatever brand you flavor. We almost all hate Cash for clunkers.

    I'm a Ford man myself.

  • supras and other supercars. gone.

  • So to help the environment, rather than keep the car on the road, why don't we redline it with no oil, put all the fulids under pressure, blow rods and have antifreeze leak out and soak into the soil. Great work Obama! All these cars could have been given to low-income families and teenagers as first cars. Don't see the need to kill these cars if they still run fine.

Plus, this program only stimulated the economy for what 4-5 months? Right after that sales dropped dramatically again

  • look at this truck this isn't a clunker, what I think of clunkers, is the A/C is dead, you wasted thousands of dollar on repairs and maintinence and you take it to the mechanic 10 or 20 time and spend thousand per visit, the car been in the accident, its 15 years old or older, and you use Ducktape, and bunjy coard to hold th door, trunk, and bumper on, thats what I think of the clunker.

  • @sideslide23

Well, my opinion of a clunker is a car or truck that is not safe to drive and whose repair to make it road worthy again far exceeds its market value.

But, despite differences in definition of a clunker, we both agree on one point; "cash for clunkers" needlessly destroyed vehicles that could have been put to use by people who really needed them.

  • @Watcher3223 thats a great example of a clunker.

  • that sure didnt sound like 2000rpm LOL more like 20K rpm!

  • i would have taken any of those cars...

  • It's hard to believe govts. are that stupid. They must be on the take.

  • I would have bought this truck. Morons.

  • CFC more nonsence from Obama and Nancy P!!! idiots

  • I wonder how much pollution was produced when seizing the engines?

  • @KarstonLikesMustangs

And not just from what's burned, too. For instance, what is done with all of that coolant that may burst out?

  • waste of a nice Ranger.

  • worst move the government had made.

  • @punkenduro i agree

  • on the official list there were 2 2008 foose edition f150s

  • nice ranger wat a waste

  • Its horrible to watch. Its like a slaughter house

  • what a waste. this program sucked.

  • that masda is not clunker

  • The truck was sure not a clunker I would have loved to drive the truck.

  • 3/4 of cars and trucks where not clunkers

  • Worried about the environment? What about the pollution that just put out?How about the coolant all over the ground? Now it doesnt run. Hope you got a hybrid flatbed to bring it to a solar powered crusher and unload it by hand.SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT KEEP YOUR CLUNKER.

  • I saw a frickin' VW Bora! If that's a clunker then i don't know what to say anymore..

  • white america showing people how scam the system that was a good truck i know people who r walking who would love that truck.all these fuck s getting government money to buy a car they cant afford the payments on..so next year instead of home forcloures it will be car repos.. get ready america next year the car finance companys wil need a bailout cause peopl cant pay their car notes

  • Che si fottano le auto nuove, bastardi...

  • Seemed to be a decent little ford truck. Flush that coolant with a hose down the nearest politician's throat....

  • This program does more harm than good! Calling us wasteful for driving vechicles we actually wanted to buy. I call cash for clunkers WASTEFUL! Oh yeah, you think this is any better for the environment. Jesus Christ!

  • SHAME ON YOU OBAMA! And shame on anybody who participated in this program!

  • not for all, some cars are bad and shouldnt be on the road, to the people who threw away perfectly good cars shame on them. some cars are past their time and quite honestly its better to have them off the road

  • what the hell?...did i see a 90-93 accord sedan?...those things get 20+ every gallon...thats not a clunker wtf?

  • what a terrible program. I'm glad its over.

  • My dealership has only been approved for 15 of our 235 clunkers.

looks like we are never going to get paid.

(and ps the antifreez thing will get you in trouble. its considerd dumping if you let it run free to the ground)

  • Same here, we took in almost 100 and have only been paid for 7. If we don't get our money we may have to shut down.

  • Wow not only do you get to kill the car but you get to OFF roaming colonies of bears and other furry creatures with anti-freeze lol.

  • i wish i could take all of obama's cars and clunk them! how would he like it!

  • Come on, why a ranger. Man. This is a sad and inhumane proccess.

  • Dont rangers get good mileage i thought they did??

  • I'm not sure what exactly but I'm pretty sure they would.

  • they do

  • The Toyota Dealer near me still has all the same cars that have been sitting there over a month. Nobody it looks like is getting paid.

  • alot of dealers STILL have not been paid for the clunkers.I think a few have hired high profile lawfirms and are about ready to sue.

  • holy crap!!! i am calling peta. you squid.

  • damn.

    one word.

    "harsh"

  • CRUELTY TO VEHICLES!! you americans have gone mad, once a country full of people that loved their cars have now come to this?? my '99 Impreza will be treated properly until the day it naturally dies, if that ever happens

  • I thought I was the only one :( It makes me so sad, there is a 92 mercedes sel in like perfect shape at my local chevy dealer that has had clunker spray painted on it!

  • @sd40u Its not the people , its the (Animal) in the white house.

  • @sd40u

Basically You're going do this. Where all good Subaru's die peacefully..

    /watch?v=guIJphOyCLM

  • yah im sure all that antifreeze going into our sours is really gunna help out our environment

  • The thing that gets me is this program is supposed to be part of the plan to boost failing american car companies and they let us dollars go to foreign car companies.

  • 2000 rpms my ass.

  • More like redline lmao

  • i am sorry to say but their are junk so my good cars that could easy giving to a needly family who need a good car. yes the program is good for the dealer sale but it is wrong to do to a can perfect car and i think alot of people would agree with me on that

  • they should have cash for hybrids where they try to get all uncool cars off the road

  • very good idea dump a gallon of antifreeze on the ground

  • They destroyed a perfectly good running Ford Ranger. Say what you want about Fords, I make fun of them myself, but come on! That looked like it was in pretty damned good condition and somebody would have been happy to have been able to buy that used and fix it and enjoy it. This Cash For Clunkers program is STUPID! Anyone participating in it is STUPID as well. Destroying (literally) perfectly good cars does NOT help the environment and does not help the economy. Way to go Obama!

  • What's stupid is that when they created this program, they didn't plan on greedy, American Expoiters. Give us an inch and we well take you to court for not given us enough!

  • i could have been happy with that ranger looked like it was in pretty good shape too

  • You know there has to be a lot of decent cars being destroyed in this program. If the government want to help the economy, Give the cars to people who need to get to work, but can't afford a car.

  • Seize the engine and crush the car with only the battery removed. To think, someone could of had the auto overhauled and brand new tires put on, and now, that car has been turned into a square sitting atop 1,000 other so called 'clunked' cars. What the hell? Lets see, family car, work car, first car, granddad's car, wife's car, neighbor's car, police car, and your favorite Corvette which you traded for your little Hybrid which now needs a new replacement computer to operate it. HAH.

  • talk about a tough motor.....lol

  • Those vehicles which could be sold used or donated to charity instead are destroyed for no one's use. Why not cash for computers or half eaten pizzas?

  • its government property once you trade in you car to the program...besides, most people would pull the motors and sell them... i know i would

  • They are running a scheme like this in the UK. The car has to be 10 years old or more. You then trade it against a new car and get upto $9000 off the price. The old car is then scrapped. I dont know why the Americans destroy their engines like that. Why not just crush it?

  • so the scrapyard couldn't resell the engine parts

  • sounds like a lawn mower lol

  • well your hard working dollers payed for it your pay check tax not funy eh

  • I hate how Cash for Clunkers has been publicised to "help poor people". Let's not pretend that this program is good for them or anyone else for that matter. "Poor" people that have cheap old cars can't afford brand new ones. This will ruin the new car market for months to come and those folks that need a cheap car to drive will have to pay considerably more to get one thanks to this program. What a disaster. Thanks Obama.

  • this is exactly why I passed on trading mine in. I will take it to the auction where I know somebody will get a good use out of it. the program does make since but it does not make since to destroy a car because it does not meet certain items on a list. the dealers around here are getting into some stuff because there taking them to auction instead of doing stupid things exactly like this.

  • what a waste i would love to have a truck

  • they should be arrested. Killing a truck is a crime lol.

  • trucks sucks and you know it !

  • Yea, But I need one to transport stuff that the Prius can't..

  • and what do you drive? a prius with a 100000 mile life xpectancy?

  • My car does not qualify. What a downer. I was looking for a tacoma.

  • poor ranger :*( that could of been a prerunner wtf

  • thats a waste

  • idiotic

  • what a friggin waste of a good truck

  • its funny that the ranger produced today get NO better mileage then a 1989 ranger. these new vehicles that are replacing the older models get nearly 0 improvement in fuel mileage. it makes NO SENSE. its just a horrid waste

  • I hate ford with a passion so while it was kinda fun to watch one die so quickly. I completely agree though this is a total waste and they could find much better things to do... there is really no point what so ever in doing this...

  • say what u want ford this and that but this was a decent vehicle

  • Knowing what I know now I would have rather had this than the Chevy Cobalt I bought thing has 50,000mls on it and power steering and fuel pump have already gone out and to think it is the #10 car most traded in 'for' ,what fools

  • Seriosly theres people that could of used this vehicle...theres good people that work there ass off and could of used this perfectly good vehicle..

like a family with kids that have to walk and rely on a city bus...

  • IDIOTIC WASTE

  • To be fair the Ranger hasn't been a perfectly good truck in a long, long time.

  • yeah, very true, but with some new injectors and a new computer, its fine! its just such a waste!

And think there is probably some nicer cars being destroyed in this manor.

  • this is murder

  • So let me see if I get this right, destroy Fords, Chevrolets, GM and Chryslers so people can get fuel efficient Imports, toyotas, hondas, etc... to help the American Auto Makers?

  • Seems you have it right.

Still doen't make any sense does it?

  • A lot of those "imports" are actually made here in the US.

  • my rant is to long for the comment box so let me continue

in exchange for them to destroy the truck I would tell said person to F**k right off and ill keep my "gas guzzling" fat boy truck its a shame that engine are being intentionally destroyed along with the rest of the vehicle in attempt to appeal to stupid people that are like $4500 WOW any ways i just needed to say that ......does anyone else agree with me or am I the only one that feels this way about it

  • i thought that this was just a simple trade in to the dealer ship this cash for clunkers thing but after watching this video and finding out what they do to the vehicles after there traded in it pissed me off to no end im only 18 years old and until resent drove a 87 chevy suburban the gas milage was beyond awful and it was expencive to maintain but the truck was awesome and if someone sayed hey ill give you $4500 if you buy a kia rio right now witch turns out to be %50 percent off the car

  • They more commonly send the cars to a junkyard until, after 6 months, they must inevitably crush the remains.

    also: JETTA?!

  • wtf was that.. statement?

  • that's some cruel and unusual punishment

  • Seriously why dont they just take the shit apart and melt it down this is just stupid...

  • your crushing all those cars when people would love to have them and you could have earned some money

  • and what do they do with the cars after that? i actually like that they are taking big unnecessary trucks out of the road but you dont have to do that to a perfectly good engine

  • They crush the cars.

  • that sucks

  • THATS SAD!!! NICE TRUCK GONE TO WASTE

  • They keep saying this program will help the american autos alot but if it is so important why does it also expand to foreign cars as well? They say only about 47% is american cars and the rest are foreign?

  • They say this program is green but research has shown that out of the 750k new cars sold out of over 250 million on the road it wont make any difference at all. Doesnt that also mean since it gets better mpg people will drive longer which means more pollution?

  • Since this is short term doesnt that mean the new people they hired will be fired once it runs out of money and the cars dont sell anymore again?

  • How does this program reduce our dependency on foreign oil when the $2 billion they took was used for renewable resource program? Doesnt that mean less research ect.. for alternatives and more big oil? They say you save about $1000 on gas each year but people that had the cars had them paid off and now with the new loan/debt doesnt that mean the interest they pay will be much higher then the actual gas savings per year?

  • good for the enviroment my ASS frickin coolant all over the ground and draining into the sewer systems fucking idiots

  • what a waste of a good ford ranger

  • omg thats cruel....lol

  • Hard to watch this video. It's like a person or an animal being tortured...

  • Yea lol especially when the green liquid starts flowing on the ground. =[

  • This shit is wrong :(

  • It's like lethal injection for cars

  • These videos make me sad =[

They're all perfectly good cars still. They could at least give them to people who really need them like those effected by the economy.

    WHYYYYYYYYYY

  • Isn't the spilled engine coolant plus the amount of energy it takes to make a new car and crush the old one a bigger harm on the environment instead of just getting a new car with better MPG?

  • Before the next election I will review the voting records of those that will be on my ballot. Anybody that voted in favor of this disgusting waste of our money, will not get my vote.

Obummer said we would have change. Looks like it is change for the worse.

  • Those aren't clunkers! wtf!

  • Holy CRap!!!!! They just destroyed a perfectly good 4x4 ranger, if it was 4x2, then i wouldn't have cared. GOD Da#%^@T!!!!!!!!

  • there will still be classics because people wont destroy sports cars for 4000 bucks

  • Just so Sad and wrong

They really are pushing people to far now for them to have a New car.........

  • What a waist that was a perfectly good truck. This Cash for Clunkers is ridicules, what they should be doing is giving grants to people who want to trade their Old and Low MPG cars in, and thin reselling those cars to needy people who qualify for a very low price or at least donate the cars to non-for-profit facilities. A 2000 Ford Ranger is much better than what I'm driving, but i sure as hell can't afford a new car even with the cash for clunkers scandal.

  • what a waste of metal.. they could try to recycle the engines somehow instead of ruining it forever

  • That just made me cringe. That is cruel and inhumane. This is nothing more than feel-good legislation. It is a waste of money, resources and effort. The positive effect on the economy and environment will be minor if even existent at all. If nothing else, we should oppose this thing because it acts to increase the size and power of the federal government.

  • That was a perfectly good ranger!!!!! Oh well. If they really wanted to break it, they could just go like 70 and drop into first gear.

  • WHAT THE HELL! THAT WAS A GOOD RANGER! I want those damn tires! I want a 4wd Ranger! There they go killing a good one. And the Jeep Cherokee I could use the parts for my Comanche! Where can i find these cars to snag the parts up?

  • Any junk yard in your state homie

  • that seems like fun

  • Such a beautiful Ford truck. And such a stupid new policy. Only the US Government would think of something so stupid.

A person could take those vehicle and sell them or give them to third World countries who lack transportation.

They could be used to help sick people get to medical outpost's.

  • the ford truck blows but the other idea is good

  • same here man it makes me feel like shit that truck was in good condition!!! that how humans are!

  • It's very sad to see how ill informed the public and even Car and Driver are on this subject. Taking older, higher-polluting vehicles off the road has huge environmental benefits. And previous programs have shown that the engine must be destroyed to ensure they are really out-of-service and not just sold to someone else. The fact that you have a lazy, stupid person scrapping this engine and creating a toxic spill is no fault of the program - this dealership should be appropriately fined.

  • That is an official method as prescribed by the all-knowing federal government. Obama and Ray LaHood approved that method despite the possibility of toxic spills and noxious emissions.

You, sir, are the one who is ill informed.

  • The seizing solution is a combination of water, silica, and salt, which is much less toxic than motor oil.

    You sir, are a douche.

  • The toxicity of the solution is not the issue. The solution (and oil for that matter) is not generally burned or released. Regardless of the effectiveness of the program, there are more efficient and cleaner ways to disable an engine. The current method can lead to fluid spills of substances like antifreeze (toxic). In fact, it would be much more effective to simply monitor each engine until it is melted down in an appropriate facility.

  • Besides, the current method of running the engine until it seizes seems to me that it could be dangerous. All it takes is one negligent mechanic for a fire to be started. Cars have been known to accidentally kick into drive (especially if they are supposedly clunkers or lemons) and that could easily end very badly.

Would it not be much safer and cleaner to simply drill holes into the combustion chamber and prevent the engine from reaching sufficient compression?

  • I have yet to hear of any injuries or fatalities from the cash for clunkers program.

  • Monitoring motors would be a very costly and inefficient means.

  • First of all, we already have a method of monitoring engines and other major parts: VIN numbers. Is it really that hard to make note of the VIN on the block at the dealership and check it again at the salvage yard? Besides, as it is, we are basically trusting the dealership to do what the law dictates. Secondly, just because you have not heard of any injuries does not mean that none have occurred. Just because it hasn't happened yet does not mean there is no threat.

  • To get their money, the dealership has to document that the car is dead.

  • What's to say that the paperwork can't be forged or the destruction lied about. People defraud the government all the time.

  • idk why.....but that makes me sad when i see a car killed.....what is the world coming to? omg

  • It's just a wore down machine. You act like they are clubbing baby seals.

  • its a perfectly fine car.......and while killing the engine it did sound like a seal being clubbed!.....how could you be so heartless!!!! You heartless bastard!!!!!!!!

  • HEY...I may be a bastard, but I'm NOT heartless. My blood pressure this afternoon was 126 over 78!

That baby seal did put up one helluva fight...until it started spewing liquids...

  • i hate that you have no affection for vehicles!...well whatever have a nice life...i'm done commenting on this video.....

  • he wont because people like him so everyone will just turn a blind eye to what he's doing...sad but true!

  • what i dont understand is why would they wast time, materials, and money doing this when they can just crush them and recycle the metal, glass, etc. Its like they want to encurage getting farther into debt by buying a new car just so they can have fun blowing up a motor....what are we doing here???

  • what the hell was the point of that. They would have take it the way it was, infact you could have made more $ by selling it than the 3500-4500 theyre giving you. Looks like they just wanted and excuse to pop a fine working motor, if the thing went that long with no fluids how many more miles did it have to go? waste

  • The intent is to keep lemons and gas guzzlers out of the marketplace.

  • then why dont they melt down the engines and recycle the metal instead of wasting money with this crap?

  • They do. Seizing the engine ensures that the vehicles traded-in for "Cash for Clunkers" can only be sold for scrap/recycling.

  • why cant the gov't just keep track of the vehicle? because you do realize that scrapping the engines with this crap in it means that they now have to remove the gunk to purify the metal...which seems to be more work than just keeping tags on a vehilce

  • In the scraping process when it is sent to be metaled down for it's metal that burns off, and is collected by the recycling facilities filtration system ultimately being neutral

  • I would hate to think of how large and complex that database would be to track run-down cars that cost less than $4,500. Not rationale.

The seizing solution is a combination of water, silica, and salt, which is much less toxic than oil. It's is easily separated in the recycling process.

Many governments have had incentive programs similar to 'Cash for Clunkers' for decades, because they take pride in their automotive industries. It's hardly a new concept.

  • your missing my point...i dont care what's happening to the cars...i care that it's the federal gov't doing all of this...they have no right to be dealing with the recycling and selling of cars, it's not their job...period!

  • That wasn't the point you were insinuating; however last point you made is a matter of opinion, not fact.

The government isn't selling cars. They are removing gas-guzzling lemons through an incentive program to lessen pollution, reduce our dependency on foreign oil, and boost our economy.

People using the program are on average gaining 9 mpg from their clunker, so that part is working well.

Who knows how the later will go...

  • hang on...which point is the "matter of opinion"? and the gov't [if you haven't been paying attention] owns 60% of GM which means the gov't owns GM which means the gov't is selling GM cars which means the gov't is selling cars like i said before, and why spend money on reducing dependence on foreign oil when that money could be used to further develop domestic energy sources? [oh yeah...that would make sence]

  • The matter of opinion is that, "the government has no right to be selling cars."

The government regulates everything else related to the auto industry from safety, pollution, trading/exporting, taxation, etc...

Most other foreign car companies (especially from Japan and Germany) are heavily subsidized by their governments. That's why they make superior products.

My opinion is the government needs to take it all over, or get the hell out of the way.

We are investing in alternative energy.

  • yeh well what about the people that cant afford a brand new truck? lemon or not i dont consider a ford ranger a gas guzzler. how about the guy upgrading from a 1984 chevy 350 gettin 9MPG i would say thats an upgrade on gas guzzling...i think they are destoying the used car market.

  • A small truck that only gets 15 to 16 mpg is a gas guzzler. I drove an 1987 Toyota Hilux with a diesel that got nearly twice that per gallon.

Currently, the need for used vehicles is way up due to simple supply and demand economics.

  • They pretty much regulate everything.

  • Yes, unfortunately they do.

  • Do you realize what you are saying? Do you know anything. When the government is regulates the economy everything is good and well and when the government lets the economy go free it goes down. It is good that the government is trying to help. Stop complaining. What exactly is the government job?

  • I think I'm going to cry, that looked like a perfectly good truck.

  • stanbernadino: Unfortunately, we're not getting our tax dollars back, and the stupid politicians are about to put an additional $2 BILLION of our tax dollars into the program.

  • And there you have it, a completely worthless hunk of metal with no reusable engine parts. Does anyone have a worse idea? GG obama...

  • huh the point IS to break them down its not killing cars for money lol u needa do some research. lol hahaahha
