@Atheistblower Diatribe played this show but we can't find the footage anywhere do you have it on the film you have? Or maybe point us in the right direction? We know the band was filmed playing by the same people....
Man it always went back and forth. I saw Agnostic Front there, and the skins were beating the crap out of anyone with long hair. I saw DRI, and it was the Suicidals kicking butt. I dont remember the show, but I saw like 20+ people from the LADS and Circle One throwing down in the mens room. Just depended on who was rolling deep that night.
I was at that show. Fenders ruled for shows at that time. Stage diving off the rafters! Anyone who was went to Fenders a lot would probably remember me, I was only 12 and had a mohawk.
suicidals, south bay skins, oc skins, pds, s.o.s., and various cliques made this a seriously crazy spot at times, but still the best spot for shows at the time!
I know part of this text by heart cos lyrics and chords are brilliant!!
No there's no f###g way that anything is going to change, it depends on you and you know, we can protest till death they won't listen...don't sit back and think it will happen, they won't give up what they have robbed stand up an resist....
Fenders ballroom was at 521 East First St. Long Beach, California which is now a Best Western motel. I think Fender's Ballroom closed around 1994. I saw Voi Vod, Motorhead, and Possessed at Fenders in 1986,1987, and 1988.
I even remember the old phone number for pre-recorded up-coming shows. lol! 213-435-2838. This was in 1986/1987 when Long Beach was in the 213 area-code. I saw 4 shows there. I don't know why or exactly when they closed it down.
@patr70 My memory of Fenders closing goes back to about 1987, a fire damaged part of it, they reopened. MDC played, the fire dept showed up and shut it down, a riot broke out... That was pretty much it. That was what I remember. Can anyone clarify?
The last show I saw at Fenders was Voi Vod in December 1988 and I also remeber that Cheap Trick played Fenders in 1989. So I am guessing it closed around 1990-1991.
After the fire Fenders had , they tried to put shows in the back bar area(s). I was there that night and I also think D. I. and Nations on Fire were suppose to play. Once LB Fire cleared the place, all the punks went out into that small alley where there was a handful of cops; Bottle here, bottle there and then all mayhem. So many good shows/times at Fenders, especially the Exploited/RKL show. Cheers
i remember this show they played at the olypic the weekend before im 42 i was around 18 those were the fuckn best times

I live in Southern California and always heard stories about this place. It sounded like a combat zone.
Never went because I was too young. A friends older brother did and he said:
-A hispanic group called the suicidals would always fight the skinheads.
-"ratpacking" some poor guy would get chased/beat up by a group
-the sucidals not letting anyone in their circle pit.
-lots of violence
Any of this true? I would love to hear from others what this place was really like.

I have a video of SNFU and MDC playing at Fenders.
Bodies flying everywhere. Total Mayhem. People hanging from the beams that ran just under the ceiling!
Didnt see any fights in the video. Just looked like people raging and having a good time

John Fender did some time in prison for taxes and stuff around that time. He came out of jail and then tried to reopen the club unsuccessfully.

Thanks for the info. I enjoyed the 1980's music scene in L.A./O.C. There were SO MANY bands out of L.A./O.C. back then.
