Has anyone seen them do "Never be the Same" live in recent years? A great song from "Temple of Low Men" that never seems to appear on their set list these days.
I remember when I heard this song the first time. It has that eerie quality that is just beautiful. I have the CD somewhere, and now feel the urge to find it! Thanks so much for posting this true gem.
Thanks so much for posting all these great songs - I saw CROWDED HOUSE twice during the European Summer Tour in '92 in UK and again in LA they are still the best live band ever!
Its funny watching the video. The director is painfully obvious not to include any footage of Eddie Rayner on keyboards! Each time you see Paul he is looking over at Eddie smiling!
@leach1527 I know, and I'm so glad they're playing it again! It's been such a long time. Reminds me of when they rediscovered "Recurring Dream" on the last tour.
I saw them for their CH debut album, they opened for Bruce Hornsby, of all people. Wonderful! Hessie came out into the crowd and tried to liven them up, it was hilarious. After their set, the guys came out the door that led from the seats to the backstage and stood in the back watching the show. I wanted to go talk to them, but felt like I would have been intruding. Fantastic show. I also saw them in 94 for the Together Alone tour. Sheryl Crow opened with her debut Tues. Nite Music Club album.
You know, I never thought about it, but you are absolutely right. Both deserved much better receptions in the U.S. That is one reason I was so happy when Top of the Pops used to be broadcast here. You would see a lot of talent that otherwise would not even have been known to you. I guess I am VERY lucky, since I saw ABBA live in ? 1978 (only U.S. tour ?) and Croweded House twice when they first hit in America. And I will always remember all three concerts!
i love them. i love them. i love them, i dunno why but when ever i see a crowded house video with paul in it i feel like crying, RIP paul... this is one of my favourite songs by them...
Great tune. Dig the 'live show' type vid, even if this one has a couple of silly moments. Beats the crap outta the juvenile vignettes that permeate the idiom...
I love this song. It's not a great video, but the song stands on its own... good atmosphere... good composition. I'd pick this song, video and all, over some of the crap they're releasing now... I mean... come on... Paris Hilton is doing an album.
Good to see Eddie playing keys on this one...Probably towards the tale end of his time with the band.

Gorgeous song. Like so many of their songs, a great mix of melancholy and pop hook.

Im stuck in the 80's especially CH. N one writes song as romantic as this. James Blunt eat your freaking heart out.
R.I.P. Paul Hester. Hard to watch these and see you man, still hurts a lot.

Is that Eddie Rayner on keyboards? This is a wonderful song - everything that Neil Finn writes is just so. . .perfect for whatever mood I'm in.
