thanks sop much i tried doing this with some other walk through with this r tarded asian guy XD he failed at explaining how to do this but u succeeded :D
@SoloOctavio413 make sure u had allowed to download applications from outside amazon store in the setting/device section of kindle. click top of kindle go to settings, device, and allow download of applications. then the root should install
@DrTechReview an you do another tutorial what to do after i got the apk showing in the kindle fire, n how do i get apps or download them, i got the android market but a white srceen shows and wont go away, and when i go to the little cop and it says "you rock" you suck" then i click "you rock" then it goes to another srceen and says " root" then i click root then says "final steps on your computer run the following commands" : adb kill-server :adb root : adb shell :enjoy do i do the commands
@DrTechReview Downloaded all files and able to see my Android in Device Manager but not able to see it on the command prompt.adb kill-server works but adb root gives this:
c:\KindleADB>adb root
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
Great tutorial! but after you root your kindle fire, can you still get updates from amazon? and I heard that all the rooted Fires cannot get access to Amazon Prime membership's videos and TV shows, is that true?
Just did this, when I hit the android superuser icon it comes up with a blank white page with "No log information" Is this correct? What do I do from here to get android market and everything else. I see the settings you have at the end of your video.. -Thanks
@thelemein1 yes just get an app like root explorer and ur good. thats when u can allow superuser access and stuff will appear in that log. titanium backup pro is another good option to get.
@12345654321zack Here man this is for you and anyone else that his this problem. the link was a little different. i guess they changed. so to make it easier i have put the file u need here (by here i mean look above it will be in the description). its the updated version and should work just fine. enjoy!
@12345654321zack um as long as u transfer it to ur kindle via usb it should work. if u download straight on ur kindle, it should work as well. its a .apk file, so after u download it, it should say do you want to install and all you have to do is click yes. now if ur stuck at the part downloading it, the solution is simple: go to the top bar of kindle, hit the settings button, and u have to scroll down to device, and then click YES for downloading applications not from Amazon market. should work
@DrTechReview well i tryed but its not an apk file that i got. its a file with pictures and word documents. so do you think i did something wrong or what?
@TheTombomb5000 um well that shouldn't be happening. idk why it times out. ur not downloading anything. make sure u are going to ur device manager and following my steps exactly. beyond that i haven't heard of this problem before. im sorry
@12345654321zack I have the same question. I have managed to get my computer to recognize my device but that's it so far. The file I have is the "cunninglogic-burritoroot-f1f22df" one also. I don't want to screw this up so it might sound like I'm asking stupid questions.
OK I am doing this from windows XP and am having a few problems. I installed the driver onto my Kindle, or at least I thought I did. It came up as an Android device so I am guessing I did this part correctly. Still, when I open the command prompt it won't recognize the device properly. It says list of devices and then there is no number. I've unistalled the driver until I can get some help. I don't want to brick this thing. Please help.
@jamstrings100 did u do abd kill server first. also make sure u put 0x1949 at the end of adb_usb.ini file. after that make sure ur device is recognized by the computer as adb composite. after that follow my code in command prompt exactly and it should work. i too at the beginning had that problem. hope this helps!
@DrTechReview OK I found the ini file and it has the 0x1949 but its still not working right. It might be my computer being an arse. I'll have to to figure it out.
worked perfectly! thanks! you are my hero! i had been trying to follow the rootzwiki how-to but i was missing the driver. having the video was extraordinarily helpful! thanks!
@rostine1980 um i just checked the link to the KindleADB.zip and it is working. its supposed to take u to multiupload. and i tested downloading it from there and it worked. so idk what link isn't working...
@DrTechReview...my fault not that 1 its the burrito root drop box file that u click on at 04:49 of ur vid...im doing good to that point but when i get to that link it takes me to some weird site that u cant down load nothig on. i c on ur vid u got a diff link address then what is on the wiki site now..?..i could b missig something on that site it goes to but i dont think...thanx 4 ur help..
that last file you want us to download is not on the link...go to it and it is some kind of b.s. that wont download...do u have another link that works? thanks
@rostine1980 haha yea will do. its just i thought 10 min was pretty long as it is, and if i really slowed down it would be like 20 min. anyways thanks for watching the video! Happy New Year!
@MrQFab do adb kill server before adb root. also make sure ur device drivers are updated on ur kindle fire to where it now says adb composite device. otherwise it will not work.
@joshua61071 im pretty sure adb kill server was in the video. and the video from start to finish should be all you need to root your device. no extra steps needed.
@joshua61071 ok so first u typed adb kill server right. then adb devices. it really should show up man. idk what else to tell you. other people that had this problem said that their device eventually showed up. if u still can't get it to work, ill try to help u more. ALSO make sure ur computer recognizes ur kindle fire in the first place. like a thing pops up saying Kindle Fire (F:) with options like open files in folder, etc. if it doesn't , try on a different computer.
@YourNewGod123 ok man. please refrain from such language. im sorry that i forgot to mention that, but u could adb push it to ur device as well. i hope that u can overlook my small blunder and enjoy my content. have fun with ur new rooted kindle fire!
i tried t rot my kindle but i did something wrong so when i go to device manager it says android phone instead of kindle how do i make that kindle again?
@XxCodMasterzXx it is supposed to say android phone. that means ur doing it right. follow the rest of the steps in the video and ur kindle will be rooted.
@Macsk8ing ok man. i think u maybe typed it wrong. it should be cd c:\KindleADB. also, if that doesn't work, it means that u hadn't created the KindleADB file initially.
@DrTechReview I made a typo here, I always put c:\KindleADB but it keeps saying invalid directory, how do I create the KindleADB file, because I have the KindleADB folder on mi C: drive
@Macsk8ing ok at the start of the video, i show you how to step by step create it. please go reference that first, going step by step. then, if it still doesn't work i will give you more help.
@DrTechReview Thank you DrTech, the problem was I opened command and I saw on the other video I had to type cmd it's like another thing, now it appears very well, thank you.
@DrTechReview - I got the same problem even though I try to root it again. I saw from other forum saying I should use uperuser-2.apk instead. However, I cant seem to find this file on the web. Please advice.
@ojeremy1979 make sure u typed "adb install com.noshufou.android.su-1.apk" <that is the superuser app itself. so idk which forum told u about the above superuser-2.apk. that is wrong. use the ones provided in the rootz wiki link.
@DrTechReview - I have downloaded the root checker as per ur advice. It indicated: " Root access is not properly configured or was not granted. Superuser.apk - com.noshufou.android.su - version 2.0.7 is installed! Standard su binary location: /system/bin/su: No such file or directory Alternate su binary location: /sbin/su: Permission denied Su binary not found in the system declared PATH What shall I do next? Thanks.
@ojeremy1979 ur going to need to start over. this time making sure that u put the su file and com.noshufou.android.su-1.apk file from the superuser download on the rootzwiki site in ur C:\KindleADB. Then, root ur device again.
okay when i went to to the command prompt i typed "cd c:\KindleADB" and it was all good but when i got to "adb devices" it said "list of devices" and didnt show my device
when i get to cmd and adb device it says "Android debug Bridge versoin 1.0.26" then a long list of stuff. any ideas what is wrong? i reinstalled my drivers and restarted my computer and that still pops up
@HOBGOBLIN1396 i fixed that now it wont recognize my kindle i reinstalled the drivers and everything but when i type adb devices it wont find my kindle
@HOBGOBLIN1396 lol well i got it rooted..for some reason windows 7 wouldent recognize my kindle so i booted up my old desktop and tryed it on that for shits and gigls and sure as shit it worked. thanx for the help
@HOBGOBLIN1396 ok u can try this. in that same folder with 0x1949 u prolly see a long line of text above it. u can try deleting that and saving it. then seeing if ur device is recognized. however i recommend saving that line before deleting it on a word doc or something just in case it doesn't work.
@FastLife79 did u type in adb install superuser.apk or adb install com.noshofou.su-1.apk. it does make a difference. In the superuser folder u downloaded, there were two files that needed to be extracted to the KindleADB file: the su file and the com.noshofou.su-1.apk. the second file (com.noshoufou...) is the superuser app itself. so yea this should fix ur problem.
@DrTechReview Hey jus got home from work and did the other way as stated. Not the superuser.apk. it worked awesome! Thanks for all the questions u have answered for all of us. Never did anything like this b4. im blind w computers. Im a NOOB lol. Your video made it very easy to do. Allthough it took me 3 hours. thnks again
@DrTechReview. After checking with Root Checker it says it's rooted. I guess I'll try to unroot and start over. I'll keep you informed. Thanks for your help.
@DrTechReview. I followed the directions to a T, only problem was that I didnt noticed that the superuser didn't install. I finished the prcocess and after rebooting I noticed that I didn't the superuser icon in apps. Thats when I noticed that it did not install. I check and kindleadb folder and the APK file is in it. Now when I'm in cmd prompt and type adb root, I get "adbd con not run as root in production builds". I noticed some else having that problem but did not see a fix. Any help please
@rhill183 this problem has come up a lot. and im still looking into the best way to solving it. however, if u want u can donwload root check on ur computer, transfer it to ur kindle fire and see if ur device is truly rooted. if its not ur lucky cuz u can simply start from the beginning of the video. However, if u are rooted ur going to need to unroot and if that doesn't work u need to restore to factory settings. now if i were u, first do the root check then tell me whether ur fire is rooted
I have successfully completed the steps and proceeded to reboot the device. However, I cannot open the Superuser application at all by clicking the icon. Also, I cannot open the Root Explorer that I have installed previously. It prompted "Root Explorer has not yet managed to obtain access. Because of issues with Superuser, this often happens the first time the app is run but is usually fine from then on. Click ok and restart the app to try again......"
@ojeremy1979 um i recommend downloading the app Root Check.apk on ur computer from a website like 4shared, then transfering it to ur kindle fire (or u can download it straight onto ur kindle fire in the amazon web browser). after u install it to ur kindle fire, then open it and it will tell u whether u are truly rooted or not. if ur not, then ur in luck cuz then u can do everything in the video again, this time making sure that u followed each step exactly like i did in the video
@DrTechReview this includes moving the superuser file u downloaded from rootzwiki into ur C:\KindleADB folder. then u follow the instructions again and it should work.
Running into an error, I rooted the kindle but forgot to add super user to it. Went back through the steps and after killing the adb server, and entering adb root it gives me " adb cannot run as root in production builds"
I tried installing super user from the device and it installs but doesnt grant anything with it. I have a picture of what its doing if you need to see it.
After crap like this, I am really regretting buying the Kindle Fire. Who knows when the-powers-may-be at Amazon starts to update their firmware and erase the root once again...
@DrTechReview "'adb' is nt recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file." ok seriously what the fuck ive been trying for like 6 hours im getting pissed off. i followed you EXACTLY
I moved the file "kindleroot" into my kindle but I can´t find this aplication there. I tried to reboted many times I also repeated the procedure several times, but it is still the same :-( Can you help me anyone? I have the version 6.2.1. Thanks!
"'adb' is nt recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file." ok seriously what the fuck ive been trying for like 6 hours im getting pissed off. i followed you EXACTLY
@IndieGeekProductions first off did u update ur kindle device drivers like in the video. Then, when u hit nutrition root app to root ur device DO NOT type in "adb shell" after "adb root" in command prompt
@ccristi08 ok I need to know where u put the superuser files u downloaded from the rootz wilie site, because u needed to extract both files in the folder to C:\KindleADB. That means both the com.noshofou.aneroid.su-1.apk and the su file.
@hamaki20 well for root explorer look at my comment @XxDynamicDtDxX. As for saving the kindleroot_rootzwiki.apk, after u download root explorer, then on ur computer (ur kindle plugged in via usb) transfer kindleroot_rootzwiki.apk file onto the Downloads folder of Kindle. then disconnect it from computer. Open Root Explorer on kindle fire, go to Downloads, and click on the file u just put there. install it and then ur set. Enjoy!
@XxDynamicDtDxX ok what u want to do is open this site on ur kindle fire web browser: 4shared.com. search for "Root Explorer v2.17.1.apk" by Rijon
hit download, wait for the download link to appear, then it will download ur file. install it by clicking on it in the notifications tab when it appears "Download complete." This will then result in u having a Root Explorer app on ur Kindle Fire. Then, you can continue rooting. Should have included this in video. my bad. Enjoy!
@NewBoyFonzz I figured it out. What I did was I went into the KindleADB folder where I copied and pasted the apk and su files into... @ (5:08 in video) Once there I copied the text from the "com.noshufou.android.... and pasted into the cmd. It worked from there. Good luck hopes this helps
Great Video. but i have one problem, when i am in the cmd i type "adb install superuser.apk" and it says that it cant find it even though ive downloaded it and extracted it to KindleADB. any help would be appretiated, Thanks
Oh yea and I don't have a user so it says C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\9U3YPTFV\.android[1].zip
@BoomSquad21SS well u most definitely don't want to save the .android.zip in your Temporary Internet Files. You want to type in something like for ex. C:\Users\Luke\.android.zip
I'm sure you have a Users folder. Just go into your My Computer, then at the top bar where it says My Computer, delete that phrase and type: %USERPROFILE% and there you will find the place to save the .android folder
So maybe I missed something but this is the first time I have rooted my device and I used this video. Tell me: where do I actually get the ICS OS? It wasn't included in any of the zips and I guess it was assumed that most already had it downloaded from an earlier root. Can someone help me?
@buyingleads simple instructions can be found here: go to DroidModd3rX's channel and search for this video: "Kindle Fire Unboxing First Impressions First Look Review Overview"
download it to your computer, transfer it to ur kindle fire, install and ENJOY!
@drewmaloy well haha u can get the android market and the sexy icecream sandwich android os. just look at the tutorials for those on kindlefirewire's channel. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
@TheLking21 um. well u want to make sure u typed 0x1949 at the end of adb_usb.ini. visit nat3mil or kindlefirewire's channel for a video tutorial. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
I had the same problem as rickybtrickey. I downloaded, and unzipped the updated superuser .zip or c:\KindleADB and the only 2 files it added are "com.noshufou.android.su-1.apk" and "su". No file name "superuser.apk" was inside. Looking in the .zip pre-extraction no superuser.apk file can be found either.
Got it. Your video is really good. The directions on the linked site do not include the command line "adb install com.noshufu.android.su-1.apk". but looking at the same site in your video you can see that at one time the command line was there at the bottom. Now the site says "adb install superuser.apk" but thats wrong because the file in the superuser .zip is not called "superuser.apk", its called "com.noshufu.android.su-1.apk". Thanks for the good video.

ALSO make sure ur computer recognizes ur kindle fire in the first place. like a thing pops up saying Kindle Fire (F:) with options like open files in folder, etc. if it doesn't , try on a different computer.

@joshua61071 yeah I got the super user but IDK what to do from here...

DrTechReview 1 month ago

joshua61071 1 month ago
o sry im kinda new to youtube user stuff what did u say
joshua61071 1 month ago
@joshua61071 oh ok. i said that in your My Computer, search for the adb_usb.ini file. In that file, change what is written in it to say this: 0x1949.
That should fix your problem.

Macsk8ing 2 months ago
@Macsk8ing ok man. i think u maybe typed it wrong. it should be cd c:\KindleADB. also, if that doesn't work, it means that u hadn't created the KindleADB file initially.
DrTechReview 2 months ago
@DrTechReview I made a typo here, I always put c:\KindleADB but it keeps saying invalid directory, how do I create the KindleADB file, because I have the KindleADB folder on mi C: drive
Macsk8ing 2 months ago
@Macsk8ing ok at the start of the video, i show you how to step by step create it. please go reference that first, going step by step. then, if it still doesn't work i will give you more help.

@DrTechReview Thank you DrTech, the problem was I opened command and I saw on the other video I had to type cmd it's like another thing, now it appears very well, thank you.

@DrTechReview - I got the same problem even though I try to root it again. I saw from other forum saying I should use uperuser-2.apk instead. However, I cant seem to find this file on the web. Please advice.
thanks.
ojeremy1979 2 months ago
@ojeremy1979 make sure u typed "adb install com.noshufou.android.su-1.apk" <that is the superuser app itself. so idk which forum told u about the above superuser-2.apk. that is wrong. use the ones provided in the rootz wiki link.
DrTechReview 2 months ago
ojeremy1979 2 months ago
@ojeremy1979 ur going to need to start over. this time making sure that u put the su file and com.noshufou.android.su-1.apk file from the superuser download on the rootzwiki site in ur C:\KindleADB. Then, root ur device again.

@HOBGOBLIN1396 make sure u edited the adb_usb.ini file to say 0x1949. this is from previous rooting videos by other youtubers like kindlefirewire.
DrTechReview 2 months ago
@DrTechReview i looked at it and and it has that
HOBGOBLIN1396 2 months ago
@HOBGOBLIN1396 ok u can try this. in that same folder with 0x1949 u prolly see a long line of text above it. u can try deleting that and saving it. then seeing if ur device is recognized. however i recommend saving that line before deleting it on a word doc or something just in case it doesn't work.

sorry it says cant find superuser.apk to install. I have the "su" file in the KindleADB file.. please help and thanks for all your hard work..
FastLife79 2 months ago
@FastLife79 did u type in adb install superuser.apk or adb install com.noshofou.su-1.apk. it does make a difference. In the superuser folder u downloaded, there were two files that needed to be extracted to the KindleADB file: the su file and the com.noshofou.su-1.apk. the second file (com.noshoufou...) is the superuser app itself. so yea this should fix ur problem.

Any help please
rhill183 2 months ago
@rhill183 this problem has come up a lot. and im still looking into the best way to solving it. however, if u want u can donwload root check on ur computer, transfer it to ur kindle fire and see if ur device is truly rooted. if its not ur lucky cuz u can simply start from the beginning of the video. However, if u are rooted ur going to need to unroot and if that doesn't work u need to restore to factory settings. now if i were u, first do the root check then tell me whether ur fire is rooted

I got a forced update to 6.2.1 after I rooted in v 6.1.
ojeremy1979 2 months ago
I have successfully completed the steps and proceeded to reboot the device. However, I cannot open the Superuser application at all by clicking the icon. Also, I cannot open the Root Explorer that I have installed previously. It prompted "Root Explorer has not yet managed to obtain access. Because of issues with Superuser, this often happens the first time the app is run but is usually fine from then on. Click ok and restart the app to try again......"
I have rooted before in 6.1
Pls adv
ojeremy1979 2 months ago
@ojeremy1979 um i recommend downloading the app Root Check.apk on ur computer from a website like 4shared, then transfering it to ur kindle fire (or u can download it straight onto ur kindle fire in the amazon web browser). after u install it to ur kindle fire, then open it and it will tell u whether u are truly rooted or not. if ur not, then ur in luck cuz then u can do everything in the video again, this time making sure that u followed each step exactly like i did in the video
DrTechReview 2 months ago
@DrTechReview this includes moving the superuser file u downloaded from rootzwiki into ur C:\KindleADB folder. then u follow the instructions again and it should work.
DrTechReview 2 months ago
Running into an error, I rooted the kindle but forgot to add super user to it. Went back through the steps and after killing the adb server, and entering adb root it gives me " adb cannot run as root in production builds"
I tried installing super user from the device and it installs but doesnt grant anything with it. I have a picture of what its doing if you need to see it.

hamaki20 2 months ago
@hamaki20 well for root explorer look at my comment @XxDynamicDtDxX. As for saving the kindleroot_rootzwiki.apk, after u download root explorer, then on ur computer (ur kindle plugged in via usb) transfer kindleroot_rootzwiki.apk file onto the Downloads folder of Kindle. then disconnect it from computer. Open Root Explorer on kindle fire, go to Downloads, and click on the file u just put there. install it and then ur set. Enjoy!

XxDynamicDtDxX 2 months ago
@XxDynamicDtDxX ok what u want to do is open this site on ur kindle fire web browser: 4shared.com. search for "Root Explorer v2.17.1.apk" by Rijon
hit download, wait for the download link to appear, then it will download ur file. install it by clicking on it in the notifications tab when it appears "Download complete." This will then result in u having a Root Explorer app on ur Kindle Fire. Then, you can continue rooting. Should have included this in video. my bad. Enjoy!

Un1eashTheFury 2 months ago
