The fundamental problem with any of the more liberal approaches to government is that it assumes that people are basically good which is very naive. If a government leans towards being too liberal, the rich basically take over(North America *cough*). Countries like Norway have it figured out in my opinion. Taking sociology creates a bit of a bias towards socialism for most people, in my opinion, but it also gives them a solid factual foundation for their opinions.
Anarchists do not assume everyone is good. Some people criticize Anarchism as being a "utopia", but it isn't meant to be a utopia in the first place. Everyone except hippies knows that there will always be criminality and corruption. However, in an anarchist society, every would be armed to the teeth with firearms, giving people the ability to defend themselves against criminals and dictators seeking power. There will always be bad guys, but most people are good, and it becomes self-regulating.
