I had the pleasure to see Howard in Belgium (at the Cirque Royal in Brussels) I think it was in 1984 or 1985. I knew all his songs by heart. Wonderful! He has always been my favourite singer! And my favourite group is Tears for Fears.. Howard, when do you intend to come back to Belgium? I'm waiting for you!
What a freaking master!!! I think his lyrics had a hidden meaning: Don't be fooled by what you see (his looks) and don't be fooled by what you hear (synth pop). At least that is one of the messages I got from this song. Be the best you can be.
I loved his music when I was at school I appreciate his talent and he's an all round nice guy not a pretentious bastard or a Paedophile like Michael Jackson.
I can't imagine all the programming he had to endure, especially back then. Besides the great music, programming all those modules requires a talent that most people don't recognize.
@chrigu70 i totally agree. im 25 and i also believe all the best and most unique music came from the 80's. and right round 1:32-1:140 he does so much sh*t to have the ability to mulitiply think about that while everything is going on and have the musical coordination is very remarkable. i almost wonder if he has manic bipolar disorder.
Fantastic! Howard is really hot! Not only when he sings, but also when he plays the piano --- especially playing more than one piano at the same time! he is so hot!
Greta to see him do this live. And he plays everything himself, the bass with his left, the main melody and other sounds with his right. Only the drums and that funky arpeggio come from the sequencer. Talented man. And a classic song!
howard jones is the man, sheer brilliance in all he does and what a show he puts on,excellent stuff,a pleasure to watch, many memories floodin back to me now, cheers
at 1:36 is he playing the melody with one hand and the delay with the other hand or is the delay programmed?
ppdan 3 months ago
@ppdan The delay is programmed into the Jupiter 8, the synth he's playing the melody line on.

4:52 to 5:47 is supremely amazing! Love the little twelve bar blues refrain he sticks in.

Man, Howard Jones can really play! Hard to say about most music acts in the 80s that were popular.

I cannot understand why this comment has been rated negative...
Obviously the one who did it has no idea how much work is hidden behind the programmings for such a great performance.
christopher6373,i totally agree 100% with your comment.
The best music ever has been written in the 80s,Howard is one part of it...

Playing the bass with the left at the same time as melody and singing is amazing to me. Talent is right.

Easily one of his best songs.
I saw him live in the US in the 80s and it was a grand show.
I also spent much money, time and desire, to try and get my hair like his in the 80s. Never even came close!
