I was at the event and I'd like to point out that I met at least three other people who have raced in a variety of championships at some point.
Regardless, I'm not convinced that only racing drivers are qualified to have a valid opinion on a sports car. There are many aspects to a good race car that would make it an awful road car.
I guess you average, predictably negative youtube posters wouldn't understand that!
I tried it out buying one of these to check it out. Believe me or not, but driving an Evora is all about perfect balance of power and cornering precision. No boring hp stats, just exploring the most fun you can pack in a couple of minutes around a track. With hairpin precision.
a competition just to praise the crap out of lotus... I'm pretty sure those who wrote a proper review (eg. including all the flaws) didn't get into the top 20.
your 'average' motorist, which these guys clearly are, will be impressed by any old sports car. Therefore this video, and the forthcoming feature in the magazine, is going to be both boring and meaningless.
@dhale750 I wouldn't say they're your average motorist. Most Evo readers are pretty clued up, and I know one of the finalists and have raced against him a number of times. He knows his cars and most definitely knows what makes a good handling one as well as being pretty damn handy as a helmsman!
So they selected only the people who was going to speak positively about the car and then made a video of them making free advertising. Is all very nice, they had a great time. The problem is: this is just advertising. Biased to the point of being pointless. Meh
