While I mostly agree with Ozzyhemi's choices, let me throw a few other movies' chases in: The Driver (first or last chase), White Lightning (last chase), Freebie and the Bean (Fury vs cop car), Brannigan (Jag vs Ford Capri). My opinion of the best overall car chase: probably The Seven Ups. Why? It seems the most believable, has the fewest errors, and maintains suspense through out.

The car chase from Bullit (#1) was a landmark and the one other car chases would be judged upon afterwards, but I agree it has aged a bit and shouldn't be #1.

I also think Reloaded's car chase was the most impressive ever, but since it was mostly CGI they probably discarded it (also probably the reason why Bullit's made #1).

THey never mentioned The French Connection; while not very impressive visually, it was really crazy the things they did with REAL New York traffic.

They had more than 40 stunt drivers and the movie had its own 24 hour body shop. I don't care about special effects, this movie owns.
