I love Ridge Racer, RR7 and Type 4 being my favorite. I can respect his opinion. The drifting style is very much a love or hate it style. I dig it though personally. This is a good review. Also yeah, the announcer has always annoyed me. I thought you could turn it off in 7... I remember doing it. You can also turn it off in the 3DS version which I played more recently.
I don't remember nitrous in the playstation games. And from what I remember the car didn't control so off. Maybe they should have gone back to basics.

I think your review was funny! I actually like RR, not 4 or 5, but 6 on the Xbox360 was good and I played this a few years back and it was similar to the 360 version. I like the "fake" car driving experience... I don't care for Gran Turismo or Forza etc. I also like those atv games where you can jump 10 miles in the air. I like racing games being arcade and drift to get nitro is totally fine because it's arcade, but theres got to be limit to the silliness. when the car in rr touches the wall or edge, instead of smoothly grinding to halt it bounces with these little tiny bumps like a dog trying to hump your leg, so fucking annoying, can we just have the car blow up instead?

Arcade style is for fun. Simulators are for 'beards'. Why slag off the 'drifting for nitrous' feature? It's just rewards earned for good gameplay, cornering and staying on the track. You sound like you've been 'reviewing' games too long, lost the point and are a borin' bass. Who made you a reviewer anyway?

After what was then 14 years of Ridge Racer, you'd have thought that everyone had finally understood that unrealism is pretty much what Ridge Racer is about.
Instead of spending one-third of the video bitching about the commentator, one-third of the video pining about how great Xevious is, and the remaining third complaining about it's not like GT4, the reviewer could have just passed it onto someone who actually does enjoy proper arcade racers instead of failed sims passed off as arcade.

Drifting to gain Nitrous Oxide also exists in Need for Speed Nitro, although that was a great game with licensed cars, an awesome car editor, as well as a very smooth frame rate and 15 well-designed tracks.

It's an arcade game so why review it by the standards of a simulator ("laws of physics...", bla bla bla). It keeps you on the 'road' longer and keeps the fast moving gameplay going for longer. Arcade style is for fun. Simulators are for 'beards'. Why slag off the 'drifting for nitrous' feature? It's just rewards earned for good gameplay, cornering and staying on the track. You sound like you've been 'reviewing' games too long, lost the point and are a borin' bass. Who made you a reviewer anyway?

After what was then 14 years of Ridge Racer, you'd have thought that everyone had finally understood that unrealism is pretty much what Ridge Racer is about.
Instead of spending one-third of the video bitching about the commentator, one-third of the video pining about how great Xevious is, and the remaining third complaining about it's not like GT4, the reviewer could have just passed it onto someone who actually does enjoy proper arcade racers instead of failed sims passed off as arcade.

@tjtreece8 I'm not exactly sure when I'm supposed to have said that this guy was "better than IGN" (especially as I don't actually read IGN) but the fact is there is a difference between a bad review and a review of a bad game. This reviewer basically spends the entire time complaining that Ridge Racer is unrealistic - a complaint which reminds me of the guy that was complaining that you needed an internet connection to play online in World of Warcraft.

Drifting to gain Nitrous Oxide also exists in Need for Speed Nitro, although that was a great game with licensed cars, an awesome car editor, as well as a very smooth frame rate and 15 well-designed tracks.
