I'm very curious to test my IH for this ding thing you do :). Sounds great! But it doesn't look like the bendy ding thing you can do on old hang, does it work by muting the area next to the ding and putting considerable pressure down with you left hand?
Wow, after some experimenting on my IH I found something similar. Only thing is, the area I have to press is on the right! Not handy for a right-handed guy.. And the tone doesn't go down like yours, but up! Thanks for putting me onto this idea man, it sounds great on your hang!

... it's just a real light pressure on the "frame" of the ding. i know, it doesn't work on every hang. i was lucky to find one like this ...
